    How many sight pins?

We all use Black Gold 5 pin Ascents in our shop...30-70 is REALISTICALLY covered for hunting situations...if its past that I have time to range and seconds to dial,no counting pins and if an animal is walking toward/away from me no adjustments like a single pin, still takes us out to 150 yards...but there is no right or wrong..whatever sight, doesn't matter as long as you practice and are confident/proficient with it....
  3. Got this yotie but only saw 1 other one,a late start and honey do's........still had a lot of fun though..looks like there were a few of us out today!! Congrats guys..by the way, sorry for the bad angle,a double tap isn't pic friendly..

    Bad Day of Calling..only 1

Most of the time I get 2-6 a day when I am average...when I am on fire 6-10...By the way I may be selling my Rock River LAR-8 Elite Operator .308 without scope for 1500...not sure...the Core-15 in the pic is an awesome coyote gun but wont sell it...Bonecollector that price will include the predator pod...haha....By the way I was also in an area that gets hit pretty hard with hunter so I guess its just great to be out anyway!!

    Fletching choices

trying the NUFLETCH to see if it really flattens out the trajectory,it definitely aids in penetration....5-6" more.....plus you just unscrew the end and swap out the damaged vanes,it takes mere seconds...

    Solo Hunting with mouth calls

I am solo 98% of the time, use hand calls and try to set up where the quarry has to expose themselves in order to circle downwind..I recently welded up a predator pod about 5 feet tall and its lightweight...I can tell you that being up that high is like treestand hunting for predators..alot of guys use 4 ft camo'd stepladders...use one and you immediately see the benefits...you can literally see them coming in from a hundred or more yards and raise the gun long before they even begin knowing you are there..they are looking low,you are up high yes,but backdropped against a saguaro or mesquite and you are invisible until its too late....try it and its a indispensable tool....I still have been surprised even with the pod,but they still didn't see me until the gun was on them at 35-50 yards....it happens a lot less I assure you...hope this helps..but a good decoy(turkey feathers on an arrow shaft),(jack attack) works great too...the allure of pitting yourself against a hunting predator is a lot of fun!!!

    Great weather dogs

I figured why not help out the deer and javelina now, then when our hunts all start maybe there will be a few more around..plus it was just perfect to be out...saw a ton and missed a couple too..it happens..

    Not a monster,but my first....

Was glad that I was given the opportunity to harvest this archery bull at 18 yards,he only went 20 yards then collapsed...the GraveDigger Broadhead definitely did the job on a full pass through quartering away...The solo pack job wasn't fun,but a labor of love...Hope everyone's hunts are safe and going well. -- Nate P.S. I wrote the quick story on page 3....

    Not a monster,but my first....

Okay here is the story...take a deep beath close your eyes for a minute and breathe out. Imagine sneaking through tall mature pines, the jack pines filling in the spaces...then suddenly movement!! Its a dang grey squirrel...They get you every time...then as I approached the edge of a canyon I kneel down behind a tree and let out a soft cow call...immediately 2 cows answer up to my left..I nock an arrow and a lone calf comes trotting right at me from nowhere..She is so close at 10 yards,I chuckle at watching her trying to find me..the wind is perfect, she keeps walking by then I hear antlers raking against a tree about 60 yards out.I cow call one more time and he starts his approach. The only thing I see is antler tips coming over the tops of the shorter jack pines...I have my bow on the right side of the tree, starting to do the "stay calm, pick a spot" regimen...he starts walking by and I realize he is going to be close enough he might see me draw..As the bull slips by,I have to do the "up and over" to get my bow on the left side of the tree..he didn't see me and I was able to pull that 82lb PSE Omen like butter...the top pin settles on his last rib as he quarters away...18 yards....the release just knows when to go off and the whack..he lurches forward about 8 steps.then coughs and then crashes to the ground...then silence..I only hear the breezy pines and the crunches of the pine cones under my feet as I approach the monarch of the woods...In that moment I was awestruck!! I cant even begin to tell you all how great and bitter sweet the harvest felt..I got a chance to just sit on a log for a minute and drink it in,the rocks, the moss hanging off the branches, the light filtering through on a peaceful fall evening............

    Thought I would get out....

Yeah,I do hunt this one area hard, but when I don't make a dent in them as many times as I have posted the results,it kinda makes me think I might be the only one hunting there? Just wanted to get ready for the elk hunt on Friday, this was relaxing to me......
  23. Just a couple of warm weather birds and yes 1 was shot in the air ...it was a riot...I got these 3 then switched to a shotgun...great weather and great friends..great dog work too...Hope everyone is out doing what it is you do..Hope to see you guys out there..--Nate
  24. like first coues was 80 stated,I usually sit on top of a 4 ft camo'd step ladder(lightweight and portable)...shots are usually between point blank to about 175 max usully depending on terrain...offhand practice does pay off and the ladder gets you up above the greasewood and you can see them coming in a long ways out which gets you the extra 20-30 seconds to get ready and raise your gun and literally walk them in...they don't normally see you up in the saguaro or mesquite tree backdrop...So I guess I got off track- any gun you can comfortably shoulder in a hurry and be accurate enough to hit a soda can as far as you can offhand, the guns will do it all day out to 300 yards or more, but practice snap shooting at 20 to 150 and it doesn't matter which upper you go with, its ford versus chevy versus dodge....but armalite and rock river are the two I own and have no complaints...avoid bull barrel for fast offhand and carrying..they are great for prairie dogs but you don't need the extra weight for snap shooting.
