Was glad to tag out,the hunt had a lot of ups and downs..I passed a 5x5 and 2 6x6's on opening week...they shut up and aren't responding to bugles..cow called this one in to 32 yards..another solo pack out like last year..again a labor of love..the gravedigger broadhead and PSE Full Throttle made a easy pass-through..Hope all is going good for those still hunting and congrats to those that also tagged out...

Ok,so the pack out was only about 3/4 of a mile,but it was up and out of Clear Creek Canyon -6 trips to get it all out...I feel like I got in a bar fight with 5 guys...

Chisel tip..just felt confident after last years non recovery of my arrow after a pass-through,then it happened again on this shot also...last year it took 5 steps,this one took 10...but either cut on contact or chisel is personal preference..throwing it out there because a lot of people ask...

The glock 20 is listed under the hunting category of their website...not saying I agree with Razor Dobbs or anyone else,but a 10mm is close to .41 magnum as you can get in a compact gun...some guys think a 357 is plenty...just depends on you quarry I guess....220 grain hard cast seem to work really well....

Got this tall but lanky sow up on the San Carlos this morning...hate to admit I didn't get it with a bow,which breaks my 10 year archery streak since I moved here...good luck to all and be safe!

Thanks guys,and alot of people asking what setup I was using...its a Remington VTR(Varmint/Target )rifle in .308 with a Vortex Viper PST first focal plane 4-16x ....funny thing is I spotted her from over a mile away,and it ended up being a walking 150 yard shot..1 shot to the shoulder and she didnt twitch..using 168 grain bullets..hope that helps out..it was enough gun for sure..hope everyones hunts are going good! I cant wait for January though..

I have already rented a panel van,thrown a box of twinkies in the back and rigged the side door to close when a monster steps in,when I get to Bearizona.....

getting the same at 412 grain arrow at 327 fps @ 26.5 inch draw(85 lbs) from an omen..97 KE and getting a full metal jacket at 470 grains at 308 from same omen ...right at 99 KE FOC isn't everything and I agree some things are over analyzed...I just measure cut,insert and shoot...I don't do anything special to my arrows and up till this post never measured my FOC but its a great topic and interesting to see the variations of each person to achieve the same thing...

you just made a 400 spine arrow basically a 500 by putting that heavy head on there...stick with 100 grains..I use 300 spine Victory armor piercing arrows and FOC around 13...with the 50 grain insert and 100 grain head..

+ 1 ....we recommend 100 shots,then bring it back for a follow up..easily remedied by a half or so twist in the press...and realign the loop also..great topic though!! Thanks for posting up..

Sounds like too many opinions...take to a shop,let the pro's check to make sure its in spec then level,time,and check for cam lean..check arrow length versus spine/stiffness and vane clearance...then when the bow is mechanically sound can you paper tune it and adjust sights at that point.....don't waste valuable time guessing....

Ladies and gentlemen,I do this yearly as a public service so don't take offense...please get your archery gear in order now,dont wait much longer as most shops are getting busy...the busier they get,the longer the backlog..string/tune ups usually take a day to 2 weeks depending on availability of parts and strings so don't get mad because you waited since January until the last 2 weeks before season to do something about your setup....it has been a nice uptrend to see a lot more people started this a month ago and hope that trend continues...on that note- how far out do most of you hold off to start the annual tune up of your equipment? Just taking a rough poll to see peoples thoughts....Thanks in advance- Nate
