2008 CouesWhitetail Blacktail Smackdown.
azcouesandelk replied to mattys281's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
That would have been perfect for me but that is the first week of school then its off to antelope and elk hunts so I am going to have to pass this year. Good luck on the hunt Matt I know you will have a good time. -
Twoguns the whisker bisquit does get the job down without a dought but the fall away rest is better for several reasons. 1. It is more consistent since there is nothing touching the fletchings and there is minimal drag along the arrow. This helps with accuarcy both at close range and especially at longer ranges (50+ yards). With the constant drag along the arrow with the bisquit you will see groupings at from 40 to 50 yards open up widely and with a fall away you wont see it as much. 2. You will have to change the bisquit because if you shoot alot the hairs in the bisquit will start to fray and cause the arrow to fly differently than before. Another thing about the bisquit is that if the fletching do not go through the same hairs it will fly slightly different and that is where you will lose accuracy down range. Hope this helps out. I am not saying th bisquit is a bad rest but it is a rest that you will need to keep a much closer eye on.

help me focus on which new bows to try
azcouesandelk replied to Schmitty's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The General only goes to a 30 inch draw and the 82nd Airborne goes to 30.5 inch. How can you like that 82nd Airborne it has to be the roughest draw cycle I have ever shot. It is fast and pretty quiet but that bow is just uncomfortable to shoot. -

azcouesandelk replied to Schmitty's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Before you jump on me for not posting a Matthews Gino I am not sure which models will allow someone to get a 32 inch draw. Matthews are good bows and I would look at them if I were you, just be ready to drop some change -
help me focus on which new bows to try
azcouesandelk replied to Schmitty's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The first 3 bows that came for mind for your draw length were 1. PSE X-Force Long Draw 2. Bowtech Commander 3. Hoyt Katera XL All these bows are fantastic shooters and with a 32 inch draw you should have no problems with speed. As Gino said the longer the bow the more forgiving and all of these bows are longer in today's terms of bows. -
I have heard good things about the new American Broadhead Turkey Terror. http://www.americanbroadhead.com/turkey_heads.shtml They claim with the new design that it sticks in the bird and you do not need to worry about fly away birds. The only thing is that it is only a 1 3/16" cutting diameter.

Kathy let me know of your great luck in the draw!!! Just get up there and scout your butts off!

I got a 10 gauge semi auto but have never taken it out for yotes only for ducks! Doesn't help that the thing weighs 12 pounds by itself -
