Ok so I have leupold vxiii 6.5 x20 x50 lr with varmit reticles and I ordered a turret for it. I got it on fri and went out to shoot today with it. Wow!!!!! Really accurate and they payed attention to all details on my load and it shoots great! I started at 800 cause my varmit reticles got me out to 700 before so the turret was to get me the rest. 800yrds one shot hit. Jumped to 975 one shot hit! Cranked to 10 witch is 1000yrds shot. Little low one click. Bottom of target, one more click to center and money!!!! I don't know why after having this scope for 3 years and this load I waited so long! Very impressed . At 1000yrds my bullet drops 244inches and with out a turret there would be no guessing . Lol 7mm 140 grain nos bt 64grains imr 4350 at 3198fps muzzle Thank you leupold for making a great scope and turret is very good quality !

The way I see it is. It's better to have then not! Just cause u have 20x doesn't meen u always have to leave it there. A simple twist in or out will fix zoom problems. But having a 9x max then trying to make a 700ytd shot. Possible but a little more difficult! The differce in high power is, with a 9x max u am for body. With 20x max or more u can place ur shot on the shoulder, behind or where ever u Want it truly makes a huge difference!!!! I have taken a deer at 620 with a 9x scope then one with 20x at 700 and it constantly surprises u how close they look at 20power!!!!! IMO scope magnification = better accuracy with ability to have better shot placement.

270 FPS out of a bow claiming 315 fps IBO?
nighthawk replied to rossislider's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Are u shotting a fmj full length with 125 field point? U have a good draw length and don't see how that would be the issue. -
6power for lowest not an issue at all. I've shot fox, coyotes and so on with my scope witch is 6.5 to 20 in less then 50yard shots.

7mm Rem Mag and Federal 110 grn Barnes Triple-Shock
nighthawk replied to SunDevil's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Almost I dentical to my load except mine is 140grain nosler balistic tip. 64 grains of imr 4350 with a half inch at hundred when worked up load! 3200fps is average . I really like the 140 grain cause it flys great with very little wind push untill 700plus yards Btw my 7mm is a rem 710 model witch is rem lower class model, but will out shoot many other guns just cause of the work of hand loading till its perfect.. -

I have the leupold vxiii 6.5x20 x50. With varmit redicles. The varmit redicles get me out to 600 with out guessing and 700 if u hold head high on coues deer. Very impressed with scope!!! Just ordered a turret to get me the last 300 to get out to 1k. Turret cost $65 dollars threw leupold and they make it accordingly to the bullet u shoot. Also the benefit of have varmit reticles is if I don't have time to set turrets, use reticles as long as not much over 700.. The scope is still $1k I believe the same as when I bought it years ago!! Well worth the money have all the confidence in leupold they have been making the best scopes for years with a great warranty .

Yeah I can't wait! My dad had it 2 years ago and passed on a hand full of 100 class deer to wait till end but never found "the one". Hopefully I can get a whopper... Got turret on order.

At 64grains of imr 4350. Getting 3200fps
-
Sorry so brief.. I shoot a 7mm rem with 140 grain nosler balistic tip and 64grains of imr 4350. Half inch group at 100 . 2 kills over 600yrds. Out of the guns we reload, 5 out of 6 shoot imr 4350 extremely well. Don't get set on one powder. Try 3 or 4 just find out what you gun likes!!! They are all different and a 1/2 grain could make a huge diff. The nosler book has good info that's a good point to start .
