You guys are right on point with this one! once I heard Newberg was hunting in the same area I was I went and watched a couple of his utube videos and sure enough even stayed in the exact VRBO I did! I then looked into the draw odds and non resident apps since he started promoting AZ and that’s when it sky rocketed. Especially the exact unit he is hunting which I never heard him say the unit?

If you go Kuiu you need the Katana pant (light weight, early season) or the Pro Pant (mid/late season) They are a tighter weave and won’t pick. I have the Pro pant and they have not been phased yet but I haven’t probably walked through as much cat claw as some of you. I had my Attack pant start picking after one hunt in the southern desert and called Kuiu about it and they explained to me the tighter weave of the Pro pant so I bought a pair and it was a game changer. They have since come out with the Katana which are similar weave just lighter/cooler for early season.

I’m sure you will find the help you need from someone on here. I haven’t been in 10 for years but was never much of a problem finding antelope. I still see them a lot off the 40 in between ash fork and Seligmam. I remember seeing several on the north side of the unit as well when stomping around.

Deer should be great! Especially Coues. Perfect timing for fawns too! Give the does lots of feed and give the fawns lots of cover for better survival.

You are correct on the 10% non resident cap for draw tags only. Where it has hurt is the OTC archery tags that are unlimited and caused such crowding that AZGFD now has to start eliminating that option. I’m guessing in the next 1-2 years OTC tags will be eliminated completely as result of overcrowding.

That’s a good idea and I think I may give that a try just to see what they say. I’m a non resident of AZ but I used to a resident and have hunted the southern desert for more than 20 years. I feel your pain as a resident with the flood of non resident hunters, I have experienced the exact same thing here in CO. We just lost our OTC elk tags because we got pounded by non residents. Even this years archery elk draw with limited tags we had 61% of the tags go to non residents. As far as AZ goes my days of drawing a coues tag every year are now coming to an end even with two points. This is in units and hunts that had leftovers 3-4 years ago before the sellout!

I’ve been watching the radar daily and AZ has gotten some great rain! Haven’t seen the big wide spread storms but powerful smaller storms. I would imagine about every tank in the southern desert is about full now.

It’s true! I’m just curious to see if there is way to find out how much AZGFD paid these guys? Also curious if it was a one time deal or have they been paid annually?

So with all the confusion with sheep tags being overcharged, possible youth tags charged for adult general tag fees does anyone know when results will be posted? Are they gonna wait several weeks to get everything hashed out before they do? if I remember correctly when G&F overcharged youth during the elk draw they still posted results before they refunded.
