My last daughter I had take the field day took me 14 months to get her in! I had to call and complain and they got her into a class because she was a non resident and resident kids were priority even though once we attended the class there were several adults attending getting their bonus points.

It was a very tough year with the exception of October it sounds like. I’ve heard multiple reports from people on the October hunt talking about how great the movement was. I also think we are low on the typical 3yo deer from the 2020 drought year. I remember noticing a very low fawn population in 2020 and saying to myself we are gonna notice this in a few years! What also hurts with low numbers of your branch antler deer is it seems a lot of spikes were shot this year and that’s not gonna help for the future. so I would say I don’t think the population is dwindling but I do think there is a gap in age class. I also believe these deer are masters at survival and maybe with the dry year and lack of water they held up more to conserve and not have to frequent water as much where they were more vulnerable. But that’s just some of my thoughts 🤷🏼‍♂️

Do not have to be 10 by range day anymore if that was the case. You can take hunters safety at 9 and compete at 9 (range day). Only requirement is to turn 10 prior to start of hunt you’re applying for.

She can complete the hunters safety at 9 and also enter the draw at 9 with hunters safety certificate as long as she turns 10 before the start of the hunt.

Does anyone know when the threshold list is updated? I’m sure every day? But is there a specific time? Or do they do it throughout the day at random times?

Yeah I think it is daily just curious if it’s at a specific time or not.

You can watch the quotas and pretty much determine where the mule deer are rutting haha. Coues in the southern units I’m sure will be end of January for good rut action like always. Could be interesting though to see happens after this next wave of storms does with the last one also being a cold one.

Still too early for southern coues but is anyone seeing any rut action in the central units after that last storm and cool temps? I’d imagine the mule deer in the southern units are starting a little?

How much rain are you guys experiencing? There has been some good storms going through the state.

All that rain will slow down the water hole hunting for a while. They were smashing water prior to this storm.

Anyone had any portal updates yet on successful the leftover tags for the first come first serve?

So how is the 2023 October hunts looking? I haven’t seen as many deer posted on social media as the past couple years so wanted to see how you guys were doing? Maybe moon phase played a big role? Maybe I haven’t paid enough attention?

I have a 2000 and love it! Good luck finding one. I do see them on FB market place often but you usually have to travel a little to get them.

Can’t be worse than 2020??

Hopefully the hold over feed and water still have the deer in good shape. But we better get some winter rain!

Happens all the time! Seems OnX keeps adding bells and whistles and it just keeps getting slower and screws up more. I have a lot of issues with the compass working correctly.

So is the “tag my animal “ part only valid once your tag is valid? Season dates? This is my first year with the e-tag and I don’t personally have a tag bu my kids do. When I go into “my tags” it shows their tag like daryl above but has not options underneath it for tagging like he shows?
