    Who didn't draw?

I would assume that they went through the first round of CC transactions... don't forget that if a CC declines, the app is thrown out. So... for those of you that didn't get a CC hit, there may still be a chance. I would bet that they are running additional cards for those that were "next in line" or however they determine that... and all the website stuff is just them preparing the database to get hammered.. most likely allocating additional server resources to the web server... (all good in theory.. however I could be WAY off... ) Good luck! My son (11) and I put in seperately.. ONE of us got drawn.

    lion hunt

hey everyone. We want to clear up some confusion. We called bloodtrail telling him we had a calf kill, and if he knew anyone that would want to come hunt. We were unaware of his post above until yesterday, and we have spoken with him about it. He was not asked to post this, nor was the information correct. We typically give a discount for a deal like this, mostly because we realize that it's last minute, you're going to have to take unplanned time off work, and most likely have to drive down overnight. This hunt was not $1,000. Like I said, we've spoken with bloodtrail, and he has apologized. For those that are curious, this lion weighed in at 141 lbs, NOT 151 as was previously stated. Here's a picture of the lion and the hunter.

SunDevil, couldn't have said it better myself. How about that Mike Leake huh? That kid has got himself a bright future ahead of him. Can't forget the SunDevil softball team either....Hillary Bach was amazing, posting 3..YES 3 complete game shutouts to advance past LSU into the Super Regionals. What a weekend for ASU ball players. Go Devils! Tyler

Couple of quick points, then I'll be done... We run 8 dogs. 3 of which were purchased from a well known lion hunter. 1 of which we got from the same guy when it was 4 months old. The other 4 were raised by us from pups. We could never take all the credit for getting those dogs where they are today. Listening to Huntem tell everyone here how much he knows about our pack and how much we have invested in it, really is proof that he doesn't know. To assume something that you have no firm knowledge of is ignorant, and makes you look like a jealous little kid, and I know that's not what you're trying to do. Siren and Goose have been the best "trainers" for our pups that we could ever ask for, however, like Lionhunter mentioned in a post earlier, our pack can't catch lions, or get any better at what they do by being in the kennel and not out hunting. We've been through 13 other dogs to find the mix of dogs that we have that works well for us. We trash broke many of those dogs, and have stuck with the ones that have shown the most dedication and determination. We haven't put in near as much time as the guys that are out there that have been running dogs for 20+ years, but to say that we are instant hunters and haven't put in any effort is stupid. Lionhunter's analogy is ok, but I like to think of it more like this; If you want to start an excavating business for example, you need good equipment for sure, but if you want to have a successful excavating business, wouldn't you hire the best equipment operators as possible? Guys that can mentor younger operators, and maybe teach you a thing or two along the way? That's how we think of Siren and Goose, veteran operators that were trained by the best. How we got into lion hunting is neither illegal or wrong, and we will keep on doing what we love and learning as much as we can along the way. We will never compare ourselves to anyone. We have the utmost respect for the veteran dogmen in this state, the list is too long to even begin to name names. Regardless of whether or not you agree with Huntem, I'm kinda tired of the mudslinging. Huntem, if you'd like to discuss anything further, send me a PM. Tyler

Amanda, The reason that the content in my first post was removed was truly out of respect for the other guides and outfitters that are paying sponsors of your site. When members of the site publicly state that they are sending hunters our way, and we are not a paying sponsor, that would be considered by some as "free adverstising". I had a PM conversation with one of them, and it came out that there is a perception out there that we are "fly by night" and that all we've done is paid a ton of money for a whole pack of dogs. This is far from reality. Huntem has the right to his opinion. Huntem actually sounds like he may be someone else on this site, but created a new username so that he could speak his mind without tarnishing his "other" username, hmm joined 3 days ago, 1 post?...seen it a thousand times, but could be wrong. Oh well. El Fuego, thanks for the kind remarks. Tyler

Ah well... I guess if we would have posted pics and stories 3 years ago when we started it may be a little different. No one but us knows what we've put into our dogs. There is no question that we're not the most experienced, and we have a lot to learn. We have no regrets, except for sharing our stories and excitement. Sometimes perception isn't always the reality, and for those of you that have taken the time to get to know us a little, we appreciate it. Tyler

GameHauler, To answer your question about these dogs in the snow.... We had the chance to hunt in the snow one time in late December '08 last year. We caught 2 lions that day. The lions could have been together at one point that morning, but the dogs actually cut the first track and treed that lion with a very short chase up a deep canyon. As we were loading up the lion and heading back to the truck, they struck another track 2 canyons over and had the 2nd lion treed in about an hour. It was cool to watch them and see the difference in their behavior in the snow...not having to stick their noses all the way into the dirt and sand was probably pretty nice for them that day... they ran with their noses about 6 inches off the ground that whole day. It was nice to be able to see the track too!

GameHauler, what are you waitin' for!? We'll have a litter out of Siren about the first week in June... gonna be hard to get rid of any of them, but we definitely will to the right hunter... 300, she is very cold nosed and has the grit and brains to work out some of the toughest tracks, in stupid ridiculous conditions... she's pretty amazing...

    Glassing up......

That is one thing that many people don't realize! It's really quite amazing that we can run a track one day, harvest a nice lion, then go back to the same place within 2 weeks and run a totally different track from a different lion. There are TONS of lions in Arizona, and most people don't have any idea...including G&F... Oh yeah...not trying to hijack the thread...I've only glassed up one while coues hunting. Cheers, Tyler

In my opinion, it's the only way to hunt. The Garmin Astro system is awesome. The new DC-30 collars are pretty sweet, and the batteries last quite a while on one charge. The distance is pretty good, even in rough terrain. We do lose signal with the dogs on occasion, but only when they're trailing fast through deep canyons....other than that, they're a must have. We discussed it for quite a while, and being that the cat is legal and our hunter's occupation doesn't allow him much free time, there wasn't much we could say to change his mind. It's a trophy to him!

    Ideas on where to camp

haha! Redneck, finding the turkey is frustrating enough, having the poor guy searching for 666 on a map is just too cruel...LOL!! I just noticed an erie coincidence.....Cody's member number is 666! oooooooOOOOoooOOOOoo.....spooky! Watch your back in the woods Cody! LOL!! Good luck! Tyler

    Ideas on where to camp

FYI.... 666 is no longer 666, it's 191, so if you're looking on your map (unless it's from about 1995) you won't see 666 anywhere. My favorite place to camp is off of the road to sawed off mountain. Cool camp spot about 1/4 mile in on the right. (sawed off is to the East of 191) I believe the road is FS82 or something like that. Good luck! Tyler

Christian, if your dad would stay in Arizona long enough to hunt we'd get it done! haha! FYI....Christian's dad, Randy, was the winning bidder on the hunt that we auctioned off at the AES banquet a few weeks ago. Big congrats to his dad, and we're really excited to have him hunt with us! Cheers, Tyler
