4) Scope - I want to have a turrett setup, where you just range the target and dial the scope in. I know you don't have to buy a Nightforce or Huskemaw to achieve this. From what I can gather, Leupold will tailor match turretts to your load. I would stay away from these custom turrets. When you have one of these made, they are set for one altitude, and for one temp. As you shoot long you will want to be able to compensate for Hum, Bar, Alt, Press, and Temp. I have seen these turrets be way off as you start to shoot long. I know these are the new thing and are getting all the hype on BOTW. If you dont believe me, run the numbers through a balistic program and see how much these factors change your MOAs/MILs.

57gr RL-22 and a 100gr SBT @ 3350fps worked great on 200lb MS deer. Thats what I had when I was in MS. 5 shtos 5 deer. Only 1 ran and that was 30yrds.

Unreal, I cant even roam around my own country. And there are so many that dont think we have a magor problem.

Did a little shooting at 1000yrds the other day. 162 Amax at 2935fps. Not real happy with the horizontal, but the vertical was preaty good. The wind got me a little bit, as it was a bit gusty. That sure is a lot of fun though.

Ah, just saw you said fine plex with custom turrets. Are those custom turrets set up for a specific load?

My 7mmRM will hold .5-.7 MOA out to 1000yrds if I do my part. In LR shooting, the wind drift is what Im most concerned about. As seen in this group, the wind got me. I have a new custom that is about 2 months out that will have a Mark 4 with a TMR reticle in it. What reticle are you using? Who is building your rifle?

As for the light calibers, I will agree that the 7mmRM does well. There are many heavy hitters that will spank a 7mmRM though.

I will never shoot nickel brass in a precision rife again. I did it once, and the ES, and SD were all over the place. Same load diferent brass great results. The nickel on the insides of the necks is very rough. This causes unequal neck tension. The nickel brass also doesnt last as long due to the plating process, that causes the brass to be brittle. You can feel the nickel in the necks when you seat the bullets. The nickel is also hard on dies, as it is much harder than steel.

There are better LR cal. out there, but the 7mmRM is preaty good.
