    High BC, Fast Twist .257...

lance - have you run those bullets through fur yet? If so how did they work? Are their advertised BC's close?

    High BC, Fast Twist .257...

How is the performance on game with these bullets? Not just great but how was the expansion? Did the bullets get recovered? Exit hole sizes? Weight retention? ECT?

    High BC, Fast Twist .257...

I wonder why they recommend such a high twist rate for their bullets. That is a bit faster than most bullets in the same weight/BC category. It would be hard for me to put another barrel on my gun just to try those bullets. Seems a bit crazy to me.
  5. You obviously need to shoot that 260 more!!!!! You could burn up your powder and barrel and before you know it you will need more of both!!!!!!! Crisis averted.......

    Nosler Prepped Cases

I have had great luck with Nosler brass. I just prime them, add powder and insert a bullet. My gun shoots really small holes for sure with never fired nosler brass. There might be some to gain with brass that is put through dies but honestly I'm almost to the point of just buying new Nosler brass and just filling it with powder and making it go bang. The brass is a bit softer. I have had it to where on the 3rd firing the primer pockets are getting a bit loose........probably because I'm pushing bullets a bit faster than I should during load development.

    Rifle Barrel

your barrel will last longer if you don't let it get hot. I would probably shoot the gun and wait a bit before the next shot. .....or maybe shoot a round of 3 and let the gun cool completely. My top secret method is to bring so many guns to shoot that you always have something to shoot while your barrel burner rifle is cooling down. Here is my advice. Shoot the gun. Find your load and just have fun with the gun. So after awhile your gun starts to loose some accuracy. So what, get another barrel (that is probably an upgrade) and do it all over again. You will honestly spend more money on ammo than you will on the cost of the barrel.......but nobody ever talks about the $1,500.00 - $2,000.00 they are going to spend on ammo to burn a barrel out. Barrel replacement is just another part of the cost of busting primers. BURN IT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

27 South 28 North Rocky Tag

If I got a sheep tag in this state I would DIY it myself. If I was a NR then I might consider getting a guide. You typically have a ton of time to scout and a month to get it done. Ask for help. Sheep hunting is different........Everyone wants to help and if you have a female/kid that needs help then even more people are willing to help. Find out who had this tag in the past and talk to them. They aren't getting the tag again and will be more than willing to point you in the right direction. They will probably tell you about a sheep that they couldn't kill or got away and where it was at. Have fun with the hunt. It only happens once in this state!!!!!!

    ISO kuiu tent

I just spent 12 days strait in my KUIU mountain star 2P. I really think you will be much happier with a 2P than a 1P. The condensation with the 1P tents (single wall) are challenging in quite a few environments. My 2P tent had zero condensation and wetness issues. Well worth the extra ounces in my opinion. Tent also made it through some serious winds. Probably in the 40-60MPH range and came out the other side just fine.

    Taxidermist conflict help

Just be happy to get your stuff back and be able to get them to a different taxi. I rarely fight it out with them when I'm getting my stuff back. Getting it back is worth more than the money you might spend. I know more than a few that never got anything back.
  12. Bergers are a really accurate bullet for targets and complete junk for hunting. My results with Berger were the exact opposite. I shot a hole through a deer that had a dime size entrance and exit and did very little internal damage. Hit the deer perfect and it was still alive 30 minutes later when we got to it. Had to finish it off and I wasn't happy about that. I've been shooting the ELD-X and M's for a bit over a year now. I'm also a big Nosler fan but couldn't get the long range accubonds to shoot. We have shot a ton of critters with the Partition (BC of a brick) and the ballistictips. All the nosler bullets performed really well on game. Never had a problem. Not a big fan of the ELD-M's for hunting but the ELD-X's are great. In your case I think you could use any of the ELD-X bullets and be fine. I'm shooting the 178 grain ELD-X out of my .308 and it shoots lights out. I think any of the bullets will perform fine under 800 yards.

Avet raptor reels are the BOMB!!!!!!! They just drag fish to the boat.

    Youth hunting round

Just use a reduced load for the gun. H4895 will allow you to reduce the load by up to 60%. I've used it for my kids and it makes a big difference and then you can make them hotter as they get older and can handle the recoil. From what I've seen the accuracy is still really good but the FPS drops as needed. You might just have to get close to whack the critter......but you will probably have to do that anyways.

    Advice on youth rifle

I forget what powder you can use to down load the round to like 60%. Do a search and it will come up. I did it with the .243 and the gun still shot minute of deer and the younger kids really liked the soft recoiling gun. With time I'll get them shooting full boat loads. I would lean the other way in regards to the gun. I would probably go buy a cheaper youth gun and be done with it and keep the old gun original. You can go either way. If they could shoot the gun "as is" then I would have them shoot it in the field to take their animal. If you have to modify it that much I'm not sure it has the same effect. It would be your call.

    1.5 Day Offshore Trip

I've got a spinner with 80# spectra and normally a 60+ pound short top shot. It crushes fish and you can get a bait away from the boat and into the action. Getting a good bait/jig away from the boat and to the fish is the key. Spinners get a ton of crap on the CA boats but they normally calm down when they know they just got out fished.

    Tikka T3X vs Savage 110

I own both.......maybe a few others too😎. I've got the Tikka superlite in .308 and it drives tacks. Absolutely a great gun. I'll tell you the things I really like about the Tikka. I lightened the trigger with a simple change of a $10 spring. It breaks really, really clean and is one of the better production triggers I've shot. Set it at a measured 1.5#'s. Could get down to 2.5# with the stock spring. Then I changed the bolt stop to a long action so I could load the bullets long on a .308 and got a 300 win mag magazine. Works like a charm and was super simple to do. It comes with a 3 round mag stock. I upgraded to a 5 round mag for a little extra capacity. I just think it is cool to have the option. The Tikka rifles are really easy to work on and there are a ton of you tube videos on everything you would want to do to the gun. I just bought a savage and have shot a few others. I don't have as much in depth knowledge about the Savage guns. The ones I've shot did really good. I'm not a fan of their trigger but I'm a bit of a snob in regards to triggers. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either. My guess is the Tikka is a bit lighter than the Savage but it might depend on models too. I'm shooting a 178 grain bullet WAY over max for a .308 and the recoil is very nice. I had other .308's that would beat the crap out of me but the Tikka is built really nice to make the recoil very moderate for as light as the gun is. My gun comes in at 7 pounds with a scope. I could shoot it all day and be happy.

    1.5 Day Offshore Trip

I hold the IGFA world record for the amount of times throwing up on a fishing boat in a 24 hour period. I can't even tell you how many times I've yacked with a rod in my hand. It's a bunch and I haven't been sick on a boat in a very long time. One word "The Patch". It is the best and really, really helps. Dramamine doesn't even put a dent in it for me and makes me tired too. Patch is the bomb.

    1.5 Day Offshore Trip

If you are looking for just getting out on the water for a chunk of a day then then a 3/4 or 1/2 trip might be a good option. Sometimes those get super crazy crowded depending on the bite. Normally you won't catch bigger fish. Expect to catch some type of bottom fish with the occasional barracuda or yellowtail. I would think that you would expect to catch some fish on a trip like this. The 1.5 day trips would be a much higher level of adventure. You will basically sleep all night and fish from dawn till dusk. Fishing can be awesome to a boat ride depending on the time of year and what is going on. There will be fewer people but expect to be shoulder to shoulder with another guy on most trips. You will target bigger fish (10-40#). Normally smaller yellowtails, yellowfin, dorado, ect. I would hope that you guys catch a fish but some do and some don't. The only key to getting a fish on this trip is being able to get a LIVE bait AWAY from the boat. Almost all issues happen within 30 feet of the boat. If you have a bait out away from the boat it isn't that hard to catch fish. If you have a 20# bass rod(which I know you have a few) that would be the perfect rod for this trip. Cast a sardine out from the boat and you will get bit. To many guys are worried about bigger reals and short rods. Who cares. A 20# bass rod will get it done with 99% of the fish on a trip like this. On either trip make sure to get the patch. Being on a bass boat is nothing like an ocean boat. I could live on a bass boat and be happy. I will get sick on an ocean boat without the patch. It's very cheap insurance. Plus I hate seeing breakfast the second time.
