So here are my two bigger items to address with a new barrel. Normally it takes at least 50 rounds for the speeds to get consistent from shot to shot. Some can take more shots depending on quality. Second, is how you get ready for a hunt. Typically I'll clean my gun as good as I want BEFORE the hunt. Then I go to the range and dump no less than 6-10 shots down the tube. Put the gun in the case and don't touch it again until I'm done hunting......or maybe even next hunting season. Having a "seasoned" tube is a huge deal if you want to hit an animal with the first shot at longer distances. 300 yards and under is no bid deal. Past that the details get more important.

It's gone. -
A barrel is just like an old cast iron skillet. They both need to be seasoned properly for optimal performance.

7mm chambering “issues”
recurveman replied to bowhunter-tw's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I typically wouldn't do .005 for headspace either but if 2.120" doesn't fit in his chamber. When he bumps it .005 then it does fit in his gun. He really can't "undo" his original bump so I would just make them all the same at 2.115" and be done with it this round of reloads. Go fire them and then bump it back like .002 from where it ends up after fire forming in his chamber. -

basically. Just make small adjustments and measure. Then I always put the brass in my chamber to check fit. Also, when I load up my ammo and put a bullet in the case I put the round in my chamber. I've seen a bunch of reloaded ammo that went to the range and couldn't be put in the chamber!!!!!!! It is super funny when someone goes to the range and can't shoot because their ammo won't fit into the chamber........Unless you loaded the ammo. Then you get the opportunity to pull bullets and try again. Super fun. So always check to make sure everything fits as you go. -

Dents will go away once fired. We have done some wildcat loads that........well lets just say they don't look good going into the chamber....and they look just fine after they have the opportunity to experience 50,000 psi. -

Yes. bump them all to 2.115 and load them up. EVERYTHING needs to be the same.......unless you are changing something on purpose for load development. Typically my brass remains as a constant except for maybe neck tension but I normally keep my neck tension at .0015 for hunting purposes. So I would load these up and fire them in your gun. Then I normally bump it back a .001 or .002 with once fired brass (in your gun) and call it good. -

Are you full length sizing or just neck sizing? Were these cases fired in your gun once already? -
I bought a set a few months ago and they seem to be great. I haven't taken mine in the field yet but I think they will be awesome. I don't know how but the glass is clearer than the EL's.

Big Agnes Skeeter SL 20 Sleeping Bag, Tall
recurveman replied to broadhead's topic in Classified Ads
Does this model of the big Anges have the place where you can insert your sleeping pad so it is attached to your bag? I have a different model Big Agnes and love the bag. -
Not sure for most guys. I have an 11# 338 lapua w/o a brake. It's a weatherby Mark IV 300 weatherby converted to a 338 lapua. To say that this cartridge is a different beast is an understatement. It takes a bit to get used to the new level of noise and the recoil is in a different league even on a lead sled. I think the biggest reason this cartridge didn't blossom is due to the fact that there is little practical use for this round in most hunting applications. Basically big bear and Africa would be the only use for this round. It is overkill for elk/moose. So, I don't shoot mine much because of the limited use. Maybe I'm just a sissy too. Could be either or both.

I have the same bed extender and love it. Gives me a ton of space for gear. -
Looking to buy a Polaris Ranger Crew or Honda Pioneer
recurveman replied to SpotNStalk's topic in Classified Ads
I love my pioneer. They all come with pluses and minuses. For hunting it is really hard to beat the pioneer. Typically when I'm hunting it is 2 people in the buggy so be back seat isn't an issue. My kids have mentioned that the back gets a bit warm. Some heat shield cures that. The dust is an issue with all of them if you have a windshield. All in all I don't think you can beat the Pioneer for hunting. The general is nice if you want to just go riding but the lack of a bed isn't a trade off that I am willing to deal with. Plus, the general is loud. Though the seats are super comfy. -
It says you can't get messages. Will you take $350 for the tikka stock?

Just to be the odd guy out. I'm not buying right now to see if this insane demand can relax a little bit. Once it is done then I'll be a buyer. Though I think it is great that you are offering this to CWT guys.
-
I have shot the 6.5 140 ELD-M bullets into a few CWT deer. The results were not in the same level as the ELD-X's in my experience.
