I have an almost new Spot-Hogg 7 Deadly Pin Wrapped with Cameren Hanes first and last pin are .10 all the rest are .019. I bought this for my son and 7 pins are to many pins for him so we went with a 3 pin instead. In my opinion Spot Hogg makes one of the best sights out there on the market today. I was just wondering if any of you guys can help me out with making a load for my .308? A friend of mine is helping load some rounds however we have not found the secret sauce yet that my rifle likes. So far it hates Berger Bullets we tried many different loads and seating depths but could not group anything more than a inch. We are using VARGET POWDER. My rifle loves Blackhills Gold 168gr A-Max however we are trying to build a better hunting round for my rifle. As of right now we just purchased Lapua Brass and Hornidy ELD-X 178gr bullets? We have not loaded anything yet. I know its all trial and error but its expensive to figure out. I have a Remington 700 action with a 20in Tactical Barrel 1:10 twist rate. Thanks Coues Sniper, Yes I have great groups with the A-Max Bullets however last season my son shot his bull elk with it. He dropped the elk in its tracks, he was flopping around for a couple of minutes so we got closer to put another round in him and he just got his footing and took off. Very Little blood (4 drops) and to make a long story short we could never find him. I feel if we had a better bullet like a Berger or ELD-X the initial devastation would have been greater and we would have never lost that bull. I have shot many Coues Deer with the A-max with no problems but an Elk is a lot bigger. I just never want to have that happen again...That sounds like a shot placement issue, not a bullet issue. Yes I agree maybe 2 or 3 inches lower and we would have never had that problem. It was my sons first big game hunt at 12 yrs old, He probably caught him in the back strap and stunned him for a while. However there are better hunting rounds than the A-Max and every little bit counts. All he needed was 2 extra seconds... dang, that's a bummer! Sorry to hear that for your boy. Did your son dust himself off and get back in the game? It was the last 2 hours of the hunt when he shot him. He hunted for 5 days put 20 miles on his boots and said he can't wait to go again. So I think he wants to get back as soon as possible. The Question is when... Hopefully he will get a coues deer tag this year.

Ok, we just loaded some new test loads. I will let you know how it goes tomorrow. We are trying Hornady ELD-X and Lapua ? Thanks for all the info guys. Also Thanks to Maximus for giving me Six of your Sierra Game Kings to test out.

I just ordered the new Mathews Halon 32. Now that I bought it, maybe I will get drawn for an Elk tag. LOL Wishful thinking...

The only way to change the draw length to 29in is to change the cams. I don't know what that would cost maybe $50 for cams plus install. If I was you I would look for one that is already set up for a 29inch draw. Many Hoyts have adjustable cams. Hope this helps.

Look at Tikka T3 compact youth model. IMO this is the best gun out there for youths. I have one in .243 and 7mm-08. Both my sons shoot amazing with these guns. Trigger and action are great and they are light wait. Hope this helps.
