That magnetospeed sounds awesome. One of the things about chrono's that I always find annoying is the setup time. I am a bit curious about the changed point of impact with something hanging off the end of the barrel. It has to change the harmonics, so how does it not affect group size? I think I would be more likely to do my load development without it and then throw it on for a couple of strings to come up with a speed?

+1 On Mogollon Taxidermy. Clay has done 3 for me, all excellent.

The best 1:18 you'll spend ALL DAY.

Best place for reloading stuff in Phoenix
pwrguy posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Who has the best stock of reloading components in the Phx area? I know this is kind of a loaded "no pun intended" question, just looking for opinions. -
wow that is a fantastic deal for someone that needs something like that.

Most places you can drive to there have people fishing everywhere when the salmon are running. I agree with SWdesertrat, as far as filling up coolers with fish I have had the best luck with the small charter boats out of Seward or Homer. The most fun I had fishing there in AK was when we took a small float plane to a place where the fish were running. I have never done it but I have heard you can pay/charter someone to drop you off with a boat or plane somewhere and fish in a "non-combat" style of fishing. Never been to Kodiak but that sounds like a blast as well. By the way, make sure you buy your plane tickets as early as you can. I have had lots of trouble getting tickets that time of year with air miles, and they are seldom available for the advertised 25,000. good luck!!

Glad you got it back. It is heartbreaking to be ripped off like that.

Great deal, if it was left handed I would be robbing a bank right now
-
Yikes...wonder what it would have done if you were on foot?

+1 this is a great way to go with that kind of a budget. You can pick up one ready to go and you don't have to wait on a gunsmith. If you don't like the result you can make affordable changes down the road since all the pieces are already there.

I'm a fan of Amazon as well. I have had great luck with them and no problems returning. I like internet shopping in general because I never seem to find what I'm looking for even in the huge stores like Cabela's.

I am also a lefty. I have a custom built on a 700 action, but you are going to pay for something like that. Savage has some great starter guns that you can build on according to your budget. My new left handed Savage looks like it will shoot under or right at a minute of angle right out of the box.

I can't believe you have not sold these.

Great work Clay. Kinda hard to see the antelope horns with the dark background.

Got Coues I pretty much agree with everything you stated, except I think squaring would apply to sheep tag applicaions as well. It would weight the tags availible in random drawing (excluding bonus pass tags) a little more in favor of those that have waited the longest. Most of the top tags are going in the bonus point pass anyway so if you are not on top of the bonus point pile you are not drawing those tags, but there are still a pile of sheep tags that go in random draws. I agree with you on sitting out a year after drawing a tag, it is statistically insignifigant.

Draw for Elk/Antelope 2014?
pwrguy replied to 280REM's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Strongly and respectfully disagree. I know of several people who through no fault of their own lost tags and bonus points. -
Nevada squares bonus points. I like the idea of the longer you have been putting in your chances go up exponetialy. The other idea that would work is to change the bonus point pass to 80% of the tags leaving 20% for the "lucky" people.

Thanks for all the great replies. I have lots to look into now. I would not go up with great expectations, just looking to have a quality rut experience. That is not to say I won't be looking for a good one, I just won't be dissapointed if I come home with a small bull. I am hoping to do some over the counter hunting after next year, that is one of the reasons for getting into the primitive weapon hunts.

Spoken like an engineer. Also, very true. I am rapidly becoming a big fan of the win mag, but I think I would step up to a .338 if I wanted more reach.

With the question being that generic I would have to agree with firstcoues. Both have some great choices.

I have only done it 1 time, but my friends with lots of experience say that most of the boats out of Diego on multi-day trips are excellent. It is a very competitive business and they all need happy customers to suceed. I was going to go on an 8 day trip in June but we cancelled due to my fishing buddy needing shoulder surgery. Good luck, let us know how you do.

Very nice. With a half minute gun sometimes you don't have to carry them too far from the truck

I'm just glad to hear they are contacting people who have had problems with their credit cards, that was my main beef with the system. I could care less what day they post the results...yes it would be nice if it was sooner rather than later, but this is a government office we are talking about

You guy's are right and pretty much all correct. I say all of the above. Get a good safe, get a rider on your insurance, video, photos, records of purchases and serial numbers from everything that has them. Like Anaconda said, the best insurance in the world won't replace the sentimental value that some of us have on jewelery and other items.

Howdy stranger. Best of luck in the draw, hopefully we start hearing soon.
