Scooter, if you are the bivy/backpack style of hunter, just make sure you have at least the 6 game bags as stated previously. Depending on how far in you are, stay with your elk and get it skinned out, taken apart and hung somewhere as shady as you can find. Once you have this done you can begin your pack out and possibly see if you can locate some help. That time of year if you take care of your meat you should have a little time to get it out. Depending on how far in you are, you might consider boning out the entire thing and not hauling any bone out. If you can post to this site, you could probably locate someone to help fairly quickly, there are a lot of people in Gila county on CWT. Also, like previously stated, you need to be somewhat prepared for any kind of weater, at least have some extra stuff in your truck that you can get back to and grab if you need it. Good luck!!!

I talked to him a couple of months ago, he had gone to holbrook, but still had the same phone number. He is not processing any more. There are several other good processors here in Payson that are not members. PM me if you want some contact info.

I like the pelican case. I have taken to using it everywhere including on my quad. They are tough and waterproof.

Most likely genentics. One of the area's I go has mature bucks that never seem to grow a 2nd or 3rd point, they look real nice but wouldn't score well in inches.

I know you can use 2 GPS with the download version. It can be a little tedious getting everything to work right with their security, but once you have it all set up it is awesome. I had a little trouble getting everything working right this last upgrade, so I had to watch their video's to get a refresher course

The custom turret is not that big of an investment, you can alway's put the other back on if you change your load. It might be nice to have a quick reference for closer shots say under 500 yds.

If you could any unit, any time of the year.....
pwrguy replied to idgaf's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I would not rule out any time of year, I have seen some of my best bucks in Sept and Oct while scouting for later hunts. Whatever time you glass up a great buck is the best time of the year to go:) That being said I would avoid May through July -
I don't have any H4350, but I would sure like to get my hands on some more H1000. I wonder how long this stuff is going to be hard to get?

+1 on the Fenix. The light that I alway's end up using is a cheap headlamp, I have lots of them around and it's nice to have your hands free. If space and weight are a factor then I would forgo the high quality light for a headlamp.

This is a great opportunity for someone! I have found that learning the area is alway's 50% of the battle, so going with someone that has been there and done that is a great opportunity. I sure you will have takers on your offer. Unfortunately I have decided to get out of the stick and string way of harvesting

All good points on the previous posts. I promise you it will be one of the items mentioned. I think most of the time it ends up being the tips being different than the ogive, in which case it is probably more important to measure to the ogive.

I'm looking at the same boots. I think I am going with the Kenetreks. I go through the average footwear in about 6 months, and I am hoping for something better this go around.

I know of 2 people that drew unit 22 Dec with 2 bonus point this year.

Being a fellow lefty I am alway's on the lookout. They are few and far between and when you find one they want as much as just going out and purchasing an action...just a thought.

Looks like a great hike. Great photos!!!

That buck looks like it has about 15 inches of length to me. That being said, I'm not going to even offer a score. Antelope have alway's been tough for me, so much of the score is based on mass and that is hard to judge for me.

You answered your own question. Which one do you shoot the best. Weight is always a factor, but I will hump a heavy rifle around if that is the one I have confidence in.

Using 2-way radios while hunting. Legal, ethical or what?
pwrguy replied to Whitesheep's topic in The Campfire
I believe they are in CO now too, but cannot recall at the moment. I would like to know if anyone has any insight to Colorado. Not to hijack the thread, but I am likely to hunt there in the next couple of years. -
definitely got some cool pictures there.

Nice lookin rig. I wouldn't mind one just like it...with the bolt on the other side

BAZIIINNNGGGAAAAA!!!! Fuuunnny. I have alway's understood it is ok to use in AZ, I know in a lot of other states it is not. -
The owner of Rim Country Guns, Scott Helmer is going to be doing some advertising in the local paper (The Payson Roundup). Those of you that have been around a while probably remember whe pictures from successful hunts were a regular occurrence in the paper, but the last few years not so much. Scott feels that this kind of thing is needed in our local paper so he is going to pay for it to be in there as part of his advertising campaign. I know there are a lot of hunter in this area that have had a lot of success and I'm hoping some of you would be willing to contribute. It doesn't matter if you are a CWT member or not. Drop off your pictures at Rim Country Guns on the Beeline highway or email them to: scott@rimcountryguns.com I know this is kind of commercial in nature, but I'm hoping Amanda doesn't mind. I agree with Scott and would like to keep seeing the pictures back in the paper. He is particularly interested in pictures with young hunters. Also, since I don't think it has been done in a while, how about postiing your pictures of your youth hunters here from the last year or so, no matter where you are from.

Yes, at Rim Country Guns next to Dairy Queen. I'm not sure if he is still going ahead with the advertising campaign, I don't think there was much response, but it would be great if he would. Thanks for all the posts, love seeing them kids in the woods gettin it done.

Tommy reporting from the 'Supreme-has anybody here got out?
pwrguy replied to biglakejake's topic in Fishing
I got out last week for my first tuna trip. Had a great 1-1/2 day trip on the Shogun. The boat did real well landing 101 fish, my buddy and I not so well only landed one each. I caught a nice smaller bluefin and he caught a small yellowtail. The biggest bluefin was probably in the 50 to 60 # range. Total bluefin was 49. I am looking forward to a multi day trip next year to try and hone both my luck an skill -
Good deal, I would take it if I wasn't a lefty.
