What kind of bear is this? Nutrioso, AZ
pwrguy replied to Norteno's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
+1 Nice bear but certainly not exceptional. I don't have a problem with the way people pose to make their harvests look bigger....I enjoy photography and the innovative things people are doing with their pictures. -

Dream buck gave me the slip. but this buck will do
pwrguy replied to DILL's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
thats a great buck!!! -
I have alway's counted eye guards as a point on whitetails, they are counted on every other whitetail east of here. It's funny to see this pop every couple of years. I think it is an east vs west thing because the west is predominantly mule deer country and you don't count eye guards on them. The majority of coues hunters do not seem to count them.

I will definitely be trying those 210 in my 300Wm that is in process, that is just the size I have in mind for the new rifle.

I don't like the idea of antler restrictions. It's just one more thing to get cited for. You have to ask yourself what the objective is. More deer, larger deer, both. I spend a lot of time in area's that should hold a lot more deer than they do, plenty of cover, plenty of water, plenty of food. The thing all the area's I hunt in have in common is plenty of predators. I don't have an answer for the predators, but if they could be managed, the deer herds would improve drastically. PREDATORS are the single biggest problem to declining deer herds. Controling the harvest by humans is the easy part. As far as quality of the hunt, yes I would love to be the only one with a tag out there but that is not going to happen. We hunted with the crowds this past week and both managed to harvest deer. There are still places in AZ that you can hike into and be pretty much alone if that is how you define a quality hunt.

Need some expert Coues glassing advice
pwrguy replied to twigsnapper's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I saw bucks every day of the hunt. They were never with does, and seldom did I see them before 11:00 AM. Glass North and Northwest sides of the hills, that means you are usually sitting in the sun -
Great shot. Don't worry about the haters, some can never be made happy. I missed a 300 yard shot this weekend that is typically routine for me. Misses happen at any range.
-
I would be curious to know the answer to that one as well. I suspect the penalty would be the same for anyone and I also suspect the penalty would be the same if you told g&f as well.

Suggestions on which long range gun to buy
pwrguy replied to Big Browns's topic in Long Range Shooting
Hey Adam, how ya doin. On that budget I would say you are on the right track with Savage. Having little felt recoil and taking elk sized game over 1000 yards might be tricky. You better consider a good muzzle break. -
congrats man

Sorry, the cape went fast. It is gone.

A buddy of mine just shot a small bull that he is going to do a bare skull on and doesn't need the cape. Anyone interested PM me.
