Do some searches. This has been a topic on here several times. The good part about buying top of the line stuff is top of the line service when it stops working like it should. There are many affordable options if you only want to range 400 yards.

For me backpacking in is about getting away from all the people and 4 wheelers. Good deer can be found in many easy to get to places.

I recently knocked my Swarovski 15X56 binocs out of alignment. They were stellar to deal with and ended up sending me a brand new pair. My question is this...If I were to buy a used spotting scope how would the warranty work, or would the change in ownership void the awesome warranty that they have. That is one of the craziest thing I have ever seen. I have seen pictures of 2 animals locked together, either way, I can't imagine a more awful way to die. That is a way cool find though, and I'm glad they let you have it.

I don't know what gets into people, I alway's used to think my stuff was pretty safe in the woods. I would like to think it was non-hunters doing all this cr**, but I know better. I think trail camera's are pretty harmless and no matter what you think about using technology, it doesn't make any sense to vandalize other peoples stuff. Chances are good you won'd find out who did this.

Both are similar in performance, with lots and lots of choices of bullets and powders. You really can't go wrong!! Depending on the weight of the rifle, you are going to feel plenty of recoil, I would still consider a good break if you don't like getting thumped. Just my 2 cents worth.

If it is an archery hunt, I would go with the big .50 pistol. I have been in grizzly country a couple of trips but never had any close encounters. I saw 4 last year in Alaska at 1500 yards, and that is the range I would prefer to see them at Good luck
