Awesome, now I have an excuse to go over to Young, not that I needed one since that is right in the middle of my favorite hunting grounds. Looking forward to it!!!

yeah I thought that bull was kinda funny, that's why I added that picture. Here is one more Bear I wanted to post.

I went out this morning to check my trail camera and scout for elk. I was happy to see the camera still up and running after 2 and a half months. Here is a small sample of over 1300 pictures taken.

Welcome and thanks for sharing. Trail cam pictures are the first things I look for when I log on. Looks like you got some good shots

I have 19. I still don't understand fully how the bonus point pass works with sheep and which hunts are not even possible to draw with 19 given the ammount of people with 22 points out there. I would like to understand it a little better before the next draw. Getting a sheep is something I have alway's dreamed of.

Some good pictures there. Can't wait to get back out this weekend.

It is not that hard to hunt country like that...all you have to do is move, that is what he keeps telling me

While out looking for Deer last weekend I spotted this big guy cruising around on the hillside. He didn't waste any time heading for cooler places though, I only had about 5 minutes to get picturs of him. Notice what is at the bottom of the picture.

Looks good, you might try some other brands of camera...you are now officially hooked

Range finders with adjustment for angle
pwrguy replied to apache12's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
If you are going to shoot long range, you have to be able to compensate for angle one way or the other. Like Lark I have chosen to put a device on my scope rail that measures the angle and gives you the multiplier. I also love my Leica, and the only other option for me would be the new Leica with the angle compensation built in. -
Not bad Whale...you haven't seen his older brother around have you

Great lookin bows. I need to get out!!!

Drawing Results Contest "OVER"
pwrguy replied to Santana Outdoors's topic in Contests and Giveaways!
I'm going with July 19th 10:35 AM -
they do look good. I am currently in the market for something like that, but those are a little out of my budget.

I have a pair of 8X32 swaro's that I like for under 500 yards and hiking. Over that and I am usually setting up a tripod.

You make some good points. I really think the key is in the management of the forest, not the users. Morons will alway's find ways to start fires even when there are restrictions in place.

2010 December Whitetail. Back from the Taxidermist!!!!
pwrguy replied to bustedknuckleinc's topic in Taxidermy
That is a great typical buck, good length width and mass. Love it!!! -
I also am right handed left eye dominant. I have shot scoped rifles all my life left handed and that is the only thing I do left handed, I even shoot bows and pistols right handed. For me putting a scoped rifle up to my right eye is the most uncomfortable and awkward thing you could imagine. I would let the kid decide what he wants to shoot, forcing him to use his non-dominant eye may handicap him for some time. I have shot many critters with right handed rifles, so you don't have to run out and buy left handed rifles right away. That being said, I think he could learn to shoot either side over time.

The rifle I shoot most of the time started out life as a BDL. I had the trigger worked over by a competent gunsmith 20 years ago and have been quite happy with it. I have also known several people that have not. I would agree that trigger is #1 and you might as well put in a high quality adjustible one. Handloading is #2 in my book, you have to have the ability to give the rifle what it wants. #3 in my humble opinion is a good quality adjustable (turrets) scope with high quaulity rings and bases. #4 is stock. If you can afford Mcmillan or similar, pretty hard to beat, if you cannot afford, at least bed the action and float the barrell of the one you have. If you do these things you will have a good place to start provided you don't already have a burned out barrell. Everyone has a different opinion about cartridges and caliber, I think you can make almost all of them accurate, I would see how far you can go with what you have before jumping into re-chambering or re-barrelling....just my opinion. Good luck!!
