No question that is a wide one. It looks like a good solid 16 plus. I would have to agree with Gino, the typical deer you see that matches ear width is around 14-15 inches..on coues of course, not flop ears. The ear position changes all the time so it is hard to be precise, but it is a safe rule of thumb. That deer looks like one 308 nut shot a little over a year ago that measured 19 plus outside spread.

Gino, I agree. If harvest objectives are really needed (I don't buy it) then lets have harvest objectives. There is a bunch of "junk science" that goes into these proposals. I think using a bow is un-sportsmanlike...is that a word? Anyway to be fair to the deer I think you should have to jump out of a tree and take them down with a machette. Whadayathink

I know mine went through, but I applied Jan 20th. It is alway's a relief to see them clear, I might not expect to draw, but HATE to loose the bonus point if something got fouled up in the mail.

If the extent of your practice is going to the range and shooting paper at 100 yards, you should ethically limit yourself to 100 yards....period. Like the previous poster said "some people should not be allowed to carry a rifle". It really boils down to personal resposibility, I for one do not advocate trying to legislate ethics,,, there is no way prove anything, one persons long shot is anothers close shot.

Great question. I could definitely be satisfied with staying right here in Arizona if the tags were availible to do so. We have a lot of great hunts for species that I like to chase, it is just that the competition is tough for the limited tags. I have not done much out of state hunting, but hope to draw some tags over the next few years in Utah, Colorado, NM and Nevada. I have a number of accumulated points in Utah and Colorado for deer and elk. Because I only put in for high quality hunts it is doubtful I will ever see a New Mexico tag, but I put in anyway. And then there is Alaska. I go there because the hunting and fishing is great, and I have a good friend who is an avid hunter, who can usually steer me to an opportunity...and, I don't have to DRAW!!!, just show up and buy the tag. I look forward to reading what others are doing.

Excellent tent. I have been using mine for around 10+ years now. Mine is 12X14 and I paid around 1000 for it 10 years ago, so this is a great deal for someone looking for a big tent.

You know there will be someone there bidding at least something under the weight price of the antlers trying to get a deal, I have never been to one of these "auctions" so I am not certain of anything.

I have heard them go off slamming a car door, pretty much anything will work, I use a crow, but a lot of guy's like coyote calls before dawn. If I was going to use one call, it would be a Lynch box call, but I also like to use a slate as well. Good luck!!

I finally got out to chase deer. I saw this guy bedded about lunch time, but could not figure out a way to make a move on him. The wind was coming from the only direction I had a remote chance of approaching from. After a while the doe he was trailing moved in the opposite direction I was hoping for. It was great to get out though, might go try to chase him again next week.

I don't know about the buck looking similar to the Goodman thread buck, but the terrain looks like units apart. No question, terrain is completely wrong.
