I love WT hunting and prefer them to Mulie's any day, however, you have way too many bonus points to throw in the towel on a trophy mule deer hunt. Find a way to do it!!! You can have a late WT tag in another 3-8 years, less in some units.....just my humble opinion.

Congrats to Ty and his hunter. Wish I coulda been there.

How much does 'canting' your rifle affect accuracy?

The ongoing story of my Dec. 2010 hunt

This year was actually my first time applying for the December tag, I guess I got lucky. I wish I could hunt as many days as you did. Did you end up getting one? Yes I did, I didn't find the exceptional buck I was looking for but in the end I did connect with a nice buck that I am pleased with. I truly enjoyed the hunt, the success at the end was just a bonus. It took me 5 years to draw the tag. -

I had a December hunt last year. Hunted all 19 days including Christmas day You waited a while for the tag, might as well get your money's worth. -
I got the opportunity to help a couple of friends with their elk hunt. Here are a couple of pictures of the lucky guy. We glassed this thing at 450 yards at day break opening day, right from where we were sitting. We got a bullet in him but it wasn't a clean kill, we had to move the shooter several hundred yards down the ridge and wait him out most of the day. Finally got him killed in the afternoon. Saturday we arranged for some help packing and went in and packed him out. He was in some rugged country and I was sure glad to not be doing it alone. I don't have any good pictures, but here are a couple I took from my phone.

Great job on the story Mike. I think you did a great job of condensing 19 days of hunting!!!! -
Great camera, I had the same one and sold it for the same reason. I wish I could afford this one right now!!!

I don't own a 257 weatherby, but I have taken a deer with one. Most of the calibers discussed on this forum will take big game at 500 yards. It is almost alway's about bullet placement and the shooters ability to place it there
