    Rifle rest

about 8 times out of 10 I will shoot prone with just my backpack if terrain etc allows. If time and terrain permits, I really prefer rear backpack with front harris bipod for those reach out and touch shots.

    What am I doing wrong???

Thats funny right there. I guess I can add my opinion, which is worth what you are paying for it. Salt can't hurt, it will get them to stop and give you a good picture opportunity most of the time. What baits, salt etc won't do is get deer to travel 5 miles, so the key is good camera placement. If you are getting a lot of pictures of people, and/or predators, it might not be the best place for a camera. I look for area's that are well away from known roads and look for heavily used game trails between water sources and bedding area's. The one camera I have out right now that is producing the best pictures has been in the same spot now for nearly 2 years. It seems to be getting more deer all the time, and I don't really know the reason for that, could just be coincedence and nothing I have done? If I could find a seep in a canyon bottom, that I didn't think anyone else was going to, I would try that as well, however, so far no luck with that. The problem with creek bottoms is there is usually so much water, it is hard to come up with a spot unless you can find a major game trail leading to it. Good luck figuring it out...let me know when you do

    Desert Tactical Arms

Might be kinda cool to have a 36 inch long rifle, I'm not sure about the "shootability", it does not seem like it would lend itself to a comfortable shooting position, especially prone? I would love to try one though.

Natl. Geographic vs. Garmin MapSource TOPO!

I am currently using a product from a company called montana mapping. You purchase one state at a time and it is like $130.00. You can view it on your computer or on a GPS. The cool thing is you get free upgrades for life, and if your gps takes a dump you just re-download to your new one. It has contour lines, very good detail, different colors for different land ownership. As of the last download I did they did not have hunt unit boundaries, hopefully that is coming. I'm still learning so I can't say much more than that, but I have been pleased so far.

    Alaskan Yukon Moose

Well, I made it back to Arizona 9:30 AM on Wednesday. 200 pounds of moose meat are safely ensconced in my freezer and one very large box with antlers also made it in one piece. I have a lot of catching up to do so I can't tell the complete story yet. Here is a little taste of some of the "fun" we had. Keep a 4 wheeler intact is a very large part of the battle on these hunts. We all experienced some type of overheating issue due to broken hoses, punctures radiators, clogged radiators and failed cooling fans. At one point Micheal had to go all the way to Fairbanks to have Charlie's radiator repaired after a stick drove it's way through it. I spent 3 weeks away from home, but the actuall day's hunting was around 8. All the other day's were spent getting ready, hauling meat and bone, repairing quads and processing meat. We also had at least 2 full day's of travel time, except for me...I had a couple of flying day's as well. ...to be continued........

    Amazing Bull!!!!

    finally

You made a great choice. A well set up .308 will do amazing things. I was shocked when I learned the kind of velocity 308nut was getting out of that cartridge with his custom 26 inch barrell. I personally downed a WT at 500 yards even with that sucker last year.

    Alaska!

Hey Jeremy, as Mike said we made in back in one piece. I will try to upload a picture or 2 here in a little bit. I will be doing the red eye tonight, getting into Payson around lunch time tomorrow. I will start a new topic here in a little bit, and probably work on it after I get on a familiar computer Regards, R
