I'm not familiar with moultrie, but I have noticed windy day's will produce a lot of pictures of trees and grass moving. Are you sure there were deer there to be missed? If you got a fox, I'm pretty sure you would get a coues deer. If at all possible orientate your camera where it is facing N/S not East/West. The sun will mess with it at times as well. Clear out any branches or brush that you can close to the camera.

Thanks for the post. I also have the 1200 and love it. Hopefully they continue with the great customer service. I'm not going to mention any names but your experience is the exact opposite of what I got from a cheaper more popular brand of range finder. They offered to sell me another RF for what I could buy them at cabela's for...some customer service. I said no thanks, I'm going to put my money into something else where they may back up their product.

Those are some great pictures!!!

Leica all the way. If money is an issue, save until you can afford them. There are a bunch of other strings covering this subject by the way

What a great bull!!!!!

Looks like a really wide buck, can't tell too much other than that. Good luck getting him in the freezer.

Great pictures.

Very nice, I'm jealous

The lithiums sound like a great option for those camera's that are hard to get to, a couple extra bucks for the batteries are a small price for a longer life. That covert takes great pictures by the way, going to have to get one soon!!! Nice little spot you have there Amanda

Nice bull Mike, maybe we can find some like that next year -

Very cool, thanks for sharing

Mine says 10 feet. I think that is going to be close enough to call it "muzzle". I don't think I want to try any closer

I know exactly what you mean. Because this is when the draw results come out there is alway's a buzz around my place and an unexplained urge to get into the woods

Man What a way to hunt deer!
pwrguy replied to Ernesto C's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Wow, I think that deer may still be up in those trees -
Goats are tricky. They get a lot of their score from mass, that one looks like he's lacking mass and length to be a "good" one

You didn't mention budget That would effect a lot of the decision making. Hard to beat remington 700 actions, but there are some other customs out there for just a little more money. For me, I would look for a good stainless action, and then go from there as you can afford it. If it is a remington you want and you are on a budget, start with a used factory rifle and then spend the money as you can afford it. It is real easy to put 5 grand into a rifle, but it doesn't sting as much if you do it little at a time. I'm still trying to decide myself on caliber, I'm going to stay away from barrell burners in the future. I like the bullet selection in 30 cal, but .284 is pretty good as well. I am interested in building a 280AI or a .308 I think for my next custom. Ask me about the.338 edge at the end of September, hopefully I will be using 308 nuts to put down a moose That's my 2 cents worth.

Best rangefinder for the money at a true 550-600 yards

+1 on the Leica. I have the 1200 and love it. Small, compact and very reliable. -
I don't know about a name, but nice choice on the rifle. I would like one just like it except in southpaw. The 280 AI looks very interesting to me, I think that it might just be an excellent balance between recoil and flat shooting for the dispatching of whitetails. Please keep us posted on your load development and the groups you are getting.
