    Bear canyon/Chevlon

Well....I answered my own question. There is still a barricade across the road, although it looks like plenty of people have been driving around it. I don't need a trout bad enough to risk the ticket. We went to Willow instead, did OK but not great, the fish were all very small.

    Bear canyon/Chevlon

I was thinking about taking a little trip up and do som fishing. Does anyone know if the road to Bear Canyon Lake is open. Has anyone fished any of the lakes in that area recently..within the last couple of weeks, and had any luck, if so what was working.

    Bear canyon/Chevlon

Brian, this is from the page from that URL. note the "all but" not sure what to make of it, sound like people have been driving around the barrier In the high country, all but three lakes – Lee Valley, Bear Canyon and Knoll – are now accessible. That’s the good news. Riggs Flat in the Pinaleno Mountains is not open yet either. That’s to be expected. The stores and boat rentals at both Big Lake and Woods Canyon are open. That’s also good news. The bad news is that it appears Carnero, Crescent and Lee Valley suffered fish kills; price to pay for such excellent snow pack. We’ll get them stocked soon.

    Outfitter Killed

I saw no mention of him being an outfitter or outdoorsman? Anybody know any more about this guy? Sad regardless of what he was doing down there.

    Boycott "Los Suns"

I sent them a nice long letter. I am sick of this crap. Why do they even keep using the word immigration to describe these criminals? This is not a race issue, we can't even afford to take care of the people that are already here, if they leave this border open our already piss pour economy is going to be on par with Mexico.

    wtb rifle

You coming to the grand opening Rex? Drag that 803 nut with you. I'm definitely going to check things out. I don't think 803 nut is gonna make the trip from Anchorage though

    wtb rifle

This subject has been covered before..many times. I had a remington 700 ADL in .308 set up for my son when he was 9. I just cut the factory stock down to his size. I also opted to have a muzzle brake installed, although, I'm not sure if this was a great idea or not. At that age, I think he had more fear of the noise than the recoil. Anyway...when he turned 14 or so I just purchased an un-cut stock for next to nothing online and he was good to go. He is 19 and still using the same rifle. He has made several one shot clean kills with it in excess of 300 yards, including an elk and WT at age 10. It looks like a cousin may get her first opportunity with it this year with a Jr. cow tag, not sure what stock she will use though, we'll have to see how it fits her.

    Congrats
  12. OK, I'll try this again. I don't think my first post worked. Here are some pictures from opening day. This was a special hunt, my uncle and son got to sit in the trees right behind me as the birds filed past. This Tom came in as was no more than 15-20 feet from where I was sitting. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good, and this was one of those times

    Carp bone

That is an amazing pile. From all the whites you found there must not be too many people collecting them in that area. Great job!!!!

    Need advice for GPS purchase

I like the availibility of an electronic compass. my current GPS (etrex vista hcx) has the compass and the previous one did not. I would agree that most of the time you just turn it off, but sometimes if you are just standing there and want to get your bearings and not wanting to move, it is a great feature. I have not played with touch screen GPS but I know they can be annoying on phones...read a lot of review's before purchasing would be my advice.
