    Late Season Bull Elk Hunt

Nice late season bulls, good job guy's!!!
  2. Wow str8 You are really a glass half full if you think there is any collaboration coming from the G&F for anything other than busting hunters. But seriously, you ask why are people on the defensive, well I for one don't live in a "glass palace". What I mean is I "might" have a couple lion kill skulls with no tag. I "might" have expired tags on my Samurai. I "might" not have a Copper tag on my motorcycle. I "might have too much gun powder for reloading. I "might" have more venison than a G&F think I should have. My kid "might be shooting his bb gun as we speak. Heck, my dog "might" not even have a license. Of course this is all hypathetical. Great points made. I don't buy into the police state, and the end justifies the means mentality. If they have REAL evidence get a warrant and make an arrest, or write the ticket. I am all for stopping poaching and support the fish cops in that regard, but I don't want some yahoo knocking on my door fishing for evidence. That is wrong no matter how you try to justify it. Because you are defensive about this kind of behavior, does not mean you have something to hide, it might mean you enjoy your freedoms and would like your country to remain free and un-invited guests to stay off your doorstep.

    Excellent Coues In Mexico

Sorry, it was a last minute sort of deal Mike. He is around 105 gross, but have not put a tape to him. They were all over 100 inches.

    new fish and game Gods

+1 I grudgingly went out and bought their stupid tag as soon as it became availible. It's just another stupid tax that creates nothing but hassle and cost. Can anyone tell me what my money is going to do other than possibly hire more enforcement officers....maybe?

    Long hunt

Well...after 21 days of hunting and searching for just the right deer, my friends and luck came through for me in the last hour of this 21-day marathon. This deer worked us over pretty good for about 5 hours as we attempted to get into shooting positions. We ended up at 4:00 PM on the opposite side of the canyon 500 yards from this buck bedded with 2 does that he had been actively pursuing. I had a self-imposed limit of 400 yards on my rifle due to the accuracy being diminished greatly from its former glory days because of high mileage. Fortunately Mike (308nut) was there with his very accurate rifle and ballistic program. We had plenty of time to set up the rifle and optics and wait out the deer. About 30 minutes later one of the does stepped out nervously, and we were able to see the buck behind the cedar, as she moved off, we knew he would be following, and he did about 5 minutes later. I waited for him to stop and was just about to touch it off when he started walking again. He took about 5 steps and stopped for an almost perfect broadside. I touched it off and was able to get back on him with the scope and actually watch the hit. He folded perfectly. I'm not going to name everyone, but a lot of people helped with this hunt, some but not all are in the pictures. A lot of work goes into a quality hunt, and this was probably my best. What a fantastic time we had in some awesome country. Mike had the same tag as me and you can read his post also on this forum. Fortunately for him we were able to secure his within 3 day's of his arrival from Alaska. His post can be found at http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...showtopic=16660

    Best Rangefinder????

I got the Leica CRF1200 last year, used it quite a bit on my hunt. Very pleased so far. There should be a thread where this question was asked just a couple of months ago.

    October elk action

Well, I finally went to change batteries and memory card in the trail camera this afternoon. Because of my late season WT tag I had neglected in since mid-October. I wish I had taken the time to keep it up these past couple of months, no bucks at all, but check out this bull.
