    i hate you. Lark.
  2. what i'm sayin' is to quit even using the term ethics when refering to hunting. do you think peta thinks hunting is "ethical". hel l no. we have a set of laws that should determine how you go about your business in the woods. the laws have been intentionally written to have room in them so that folks can still have some area to do things their way. forget your dam "ethics". it's just your opinion. you're welcome to it, but don't expect others to have the same opinion and don't think your opinion is more important. if we let ethics start governing hunting, then hunting is over. if you think i agree with everything folks do in the woods, think again. there is a buncha stuff i really disagree with, but will not complain about because it is legal and i don't want to prescribe to anything that keeps folks from hunting. to me it's "unethical" to not hunt. the azgfd has tried to instill some "ethics" in the last few years. all they've ended up with is a buncha real vague crap that makes it easier for them the hassle folks that are just trying to hunt. we need clear, precise, laws that are still broad enough for folks to hunt how they want to and that have enough leeway so that if you move one inch in the wrong direction, you're not breaking the law. not vague "ethics" that each and every person has a different view of. in my opinion, if it's legal, it's ethical. Lark.

    Species ID please?

Yes. I will kill every rattler I see. You listed all the exceptions you have to killin' em. Well I have a bigger list. We ain't talking about other states either. I've known lotsa folks that have suffered greatly because of rattlers. If you wanna call someone that kills a rattler a poacher, that a real stretch. Oh well. The ethics cops at work. Lark.
  5. Nerd. You think anybody can wound an animal the way you described? Just gonna waste an arrow. But it's probly ok to shoot 1000 yds with a $6000 rifle and a $1500 range finder tho, ain't it. Legal, ethical, same thing. When you try to enforce ethics, aka your opinion, things really turn to $h!t. If someone wants to be stupid that's their right. And it takes quite awhile for anyone to get the experience they need to be deadly. Lotsa trial and error. Nobody needs the ethics cops squeelin like pigs hindering their progress. Hunting is a very intense process and folks hafta be able to make a few mistakes along the way. We are all trying to do the same thing, kill something. But we all do it in different ways. Folks need to support others who hunt legally and get off their "ethics" BS. All it is, is your opinion. In my opinion, folks should hunt. Lark.

    Species ID please?

Yeah, but we are snake killin' @$$holes. If a rattler is near me its endangering something, most likely itself. Bang. Problem solved. Lark.
  7. People pull the word "ethics" like a gun. They think the argument is over if they use it. Ethical=legal. It's legal to miss, therefor ethical. Lark.

  12. keep showin' bob all these photos and he's gonna get so jacked up he'll end up with the shingles. bob, you best borrow uncle rico's time machine and go forward to elk season or you're gonna end up in the hospital. the 2 worst nightmares i ever had are- 1. i'm suddenly workin' back at the corndog. 2- i have an elk tag and and i forget opening day, my truck won't run, rifle won't shoot, no ammo, cant find en elk, it's the last thing the last day, people shootin' elk in front of me all over the place, people everywhere, the roads are locked up, etc. but don't think about none o' that stuff bob. i'm sure your truck will run fine and such. Lark.

Bullets that just won't shoot well?

if you're like me and always shoot great big stuff, 30 inch groups ain't too bad. just hafta make sure you shoot stuff that is over 30 inches. actually, if you're shooting 30 inch groups, you have some serious problems somewhere. not just one problem either, multiples. i've shot out many a barrel and never had anything even close to that. do any of the rounds keyhole? .040" off the lands seems kinda excessive. don't see it as 30 inch kinda excessive tho. let us know what you figger out. .264 diameter is kinda fickle sometimes, when you start shooting really long bullets. requires a lotta attention to barrel twist. these new bullet designs where a 140 gr bullet is same length as a 165 useta be, cause folks problems sometimes, if they ain't twisted quick enough. one of my old .264's groups went to hel l all the sudden once, when i went to some 140 gr sierras. i figgered it was the bullets. so i loaded some 130's, same thing, then 120's. then realized the throat was burnt out, and it just happened to get real bad at the same time i swtiched bullets. it wouldn't shoot anything well. but it didn't look too bad. took awhile to figger out what the problem was. but it was a lot better than 30 inches. has this barrel had a lotta rounds down it? Lark.

jeffro, my offer is still there. let me know what you decide. 33- this is my original comment- Only difference between a .556 and a .223 is barrel twist. Cartridge is exactly the same specs. .556 nato has a faster twist to stabilize longer bullets. Any .223 bullet of any weight will shoot fine out of a .556. .556 weight bullets may not stabilize well out of a .223. Still shoots, just don't group well. Lark. read it, if you are capable, of have someone else read it to you. i'm talking cartidges, you are trying to turn it into rifles. trying to change what i said to prove your wrong argument. the cartidges are exactly the same. exactly. no difference what so ever. identical, as the info i provided stated. provided you with all the proof that is needed, at least to someone with a room temperature IQ, i can't help it if you are stupid and refuse to face up to facts. again, the .223 and .556 are the exact same cartridge. and nothing you can do or say will change that fact and for you to continue to argue that is irresponsible. Lark.

So you wanna change the argument? You go find chamber specs if you want. The cartridges are exactly the same and that's all there is to it. You can argue with yourself if you want. This one is over and you are wrong. Period. Lark.

show me a difference. first one is the official case dimensions for the .556. second is the .223. the last comments are what the international folks say about it. again, the cartidges are exactly the same. difference is rifle twist, throat and leade. some manufacturers have different barrel face designs for better full auto and semi auto cycling. again, the cases are "exactly" the same. if you have a .556 lock up your .223 it's because the bullet is too long and it's in the lands causing too much pressure. and again, as in my first comment, any .223 load will work in a barrel marked .556. Lark. According to the official Commission Internationale Permanente pour l'Epreuve des Armes à Feu Portatives (C.I.P.) guidelines the .223 Remington case can handle up to 430 MPa (62,366 psi) piezo pressure.[6] In C.I.P. regulated countries every rifle cartridge combo has to be proofed at 125% of this maximum C.I.P. pressure to certify for sale to consumers. This is equal to the NATO maximum service pressure guideline for the 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge. The SAAMI pressure limit for the .223 Remington is set at 379.212 MPa (55,000 psi), piezo pressure.[7] The dimensional specifications of 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington commercial brass cases are identical. The cases tend to have similar case capacity when measured, with variations chiefly due to brand, not 5.56 vs .223 designation. The result of this is that there is no such thing as "5.56 brass" or ".223 brass", the differences in the cartridges lie in pressure ratings and in chamber leade length, not in the shape or thickness of the brass.[11][12]

I've loaded both for over 40 years. Same set of dies. Just finished loading 2000 for both. Same dies. The .223 rem and .556 nato cartridge are exactly the same. And any .223 will shoot fine out of anything marked .556. Military .556 May have a long bullet that will be in the lands in a .223 and cause higher pressure, but there has never been anything definitive agreed on. The .223 and .556 shoot cartridges with the exact same dimensions. Chambers may vary for longer bullets and to cycle full and semi auto. Lark.
