Which rifle stock and why?
.270 replied to Stickflinger76's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
before you by anything from hs, google lon horiuchi. he's on their staff. then decide if you want to give your money to them. Lark. -
go build your house outta mud and quite being a hypocrite. every logging contract has provisions to return things to gov't standards. fix or remove the roads. reseed. etc. it's more than likely a gov't thinning program, trying to avoid another wallow fire. Lark.

if i ax nice will somebuddy splain green tip ammo? i shoot a lotta .223 ammo. in my remington 788 rifle and an ar-15. all hollowpoints and some soft points. even have a few plastic tipped 40 grainers i loaded specially for 'splodin' coyotes. i've loaded a few fmj's over the years. but what is a green tip. guess i've never seen one. seen ap's and stuff. loaded a buncha 30 cal military ap's with the hardened steel rod inside once in my .300 because i was pissed off about some stuff. but ain't ever seen a green tip. are they a steel jacket? do they have a steel rod in em? or are they just an fmj? what's the deal? AZGFD DOES IT AGAIN
.270 replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
there's a surefire way to access all these millions of locked up acres folks seem to think Az has (go to about any other state and see what kinda private land they have) it's called walking. get on ol' shanks mare and hump it in. there are a few checkerboard places that a guy doesn't have much access to, but for the most part Az is wide open. azgfd has something else in mind and they are using this as an excuse to do it. Lark. -
not just democrats, communists. remember that warthog krikpatrick and her cowboy boots? what a liar. yet folks voted for her. grijalva is a commie, probably card carrying. no way you'll ever root him outta tucson tho. keep chippin' away at the wall until it falls. folks best wise up. Lark.

Vaquero outfitters..... Ouch that'll leave a mark
.270 replied to joelpresmyk8's topic in The Campfire
i'm sorry offended ya slider, if i ax you your address will you tell me to it so i can send you a dollar. use it to buy a sense of humor. i keep telling you guys to give up on ethics. there are too many opinions to use "ethics" as a reason to change things. nobody has the same opinion on anything. everyones likes and dislikes vary. use the laws as they're written to your best ability. if something is legal but doesn't seem ok to you, then don't do it, but don't hammer folks that do. this helicopter deal is a direct effect of $$$. guys with a lotta money think they deserve better than joe hunter. they paid several years wages for a regular guy, for their tag and then that much again for their posse and they want results. the folks that guide these guys are attracted to the money, celebrity and power these guys have and get sucked into the tornado. don't know this smith guy, but he's in a lotta trouble. seems like i saw him on a hunting show in mexico chasing coues deer once. if it's the same guy he was a real jerk even on tv. whatever. this kinda action is offensive to everyone. if you axed this smith guy before this happened he would say it was something that folks shouldn't do. same with the guys that hunt with him. as long they don't get smeared they don't care what went into the equation as long as they get the answer they want. cool can't wait to see how this one plays out. now i gotta ax the question. is this unethical? sounds like it was ethical to guys in the chopper. when you have guys paying 6 figures for tags, they really want some special results. folks that are willing to cross the line are in high demand when big $ are laid down. Lark. -
what if you're 30x2+some? am i twice as unethical? and i still maintain there are only 2 unethical things in hunting. 7mm08's and liver. i hate em. Lark
-
So guides are bad? Ok. That can be #4. But I think guides are ok. So I'm "unethical" I just don't like the posse deal for rich guys. That can be #5. Anything else we can make unethical? I still don't get the -30 guys being unethical? But, it was said so we gotta put it on the list. I hate liver. Can I put that on the list? And I dont think that there would be nothin said if some guys done the face to face. I think it'd be a big ol fistfight. Lark.
-
So guys under 30 are unethical now? I gotta make a list. 1. No radios. 2. No -30 guys. 3. ? Yet to be determined. Lark.
-
So a radio isn't fair chase but hiring a dozen guys to keep tabs on an animal until some guy with a lotta money gets time in his schedule to jet in and shoot it? It wasn't too many years that this was expressly illegal, but now if you have a lotta money it's not only legal but considered fair chase. Boy how times have changed. To each his own. Legal=ethical. Lark.

i thought we couldn't talk bad about muslims on this site anymore? Lark.

careful, he's gonna call J. Noble Dagget. Lark.

that .44/40 is a rare one. that's cool. i'd take a .30 too, but i really want a .25. be an excellent saddle gun. i wish they woulda necked that cartridge down to .22, like the savage hi power. be a great little pump gun. Lark.
-
slander? uhoh, str8 guy is gonna sue us all. now that we got that str8, if we all do what he says we'll all be better for it. crap, i liked it better when i was allowed to have an opinion of my own. now i'm just shakin' in my clod hoppers. not. pathetic. Lark.

bite the bullet and get a good one. we have the biggest one cabelas offers. i think it's 1 3/4 hp. whatever, it's their biggest one. i wouldn't mind having a bigger one. there is a placed called industries in an industrial park south between 1-10 and the airport that sells commercial grinders. but most of them are 220 and some are 3 phase. with the cabelas grinder we bought the burger tube equipment and the tape dispenser. everything was around a grand. if you and your bunch hunt much you can save that much in a season. and you know what you're getting and can cut it up the way "YOU" like it. we also got a couple of the real good vacuum packers. i learned how to butcher years ago in a butcher shop in a grocery store so i have a leg up. but it ain't all that hard to master. at least to get good enough to please yourself. and then you can start makin' all kindsa stuff like venison chorizo and elk brats and sausage and on and on. it's a little spendy, but get a big grinder. once you do you'll always be happy with what you get back from the butcher. Lark.

it isn't real safe to load pointy tipped centerfire ammo in a tube magazine because there is chance that the tip of a bullet can hit the primer of the shell in front of it hard enough to make it fire, during recoil. they put the spirals in the mag tube so that tips of the bullets will be cocked off a little and not hit the primer in front of it, making it safe to use spitzer and other pointy ammo. i lust for a model 14 in .25 remington. they are fine old rifles. be sure you hang on to it so you can pass it on to someone who will keep it and pass it on. if it's a model 14 it could be over 100 years old too. the newest a 141 or 14 cn be is about 75 years old. Lark,
-
they're both great old rifles. do you know why it has the corkscrew looking deals in the mag tube? Lark.
-
cool. been there, done that. it's more exciting than you can imagine. good cat too. a couple of the photos are really good. lucky the dogs didn't get cut up. good job. everbody needs to bay a lion at least once. Lark.

real interesting. if they are gonna use the beefalo excuse then maybe that will open up an avenue to get rid off the dog/wolf curs they are trying to pass off as mexican wolves? real interesting double standard the gov't takes on things. we have condors from california, chukars from iran or turkey or wherever the he ll they're from, cur dogs bred with half breed wolfs, elk from wyoming, bighorns from the rockies, trout from germany, any number of species brung here from some foreign place and they wanna shoot all the bison because they are part cow? and the wild donkeys and horses are completely protected, even with all the data that shows what a detrement they are to native species? real interesting. guess that's where the term "government mule" comes from. (mule=1/2horse+one half jackass) all the gov't guys are at least half jackass. Lark,

the only thing in hunting that is truly unethical is the 7mm/08. Lark

i think deer have some natural cycles that even biologists don't understand. like "global warming". folks make too many assumptions without enough good info. my grandad said when he was a kid they seldom saw a muley, in what is now 31 and 32. lots of whitetail, but would go years and never see a muley. then later in the century, up into the 60's, it was the other way around. abundant muleys, whitetail hard to find. and there were several times fewer folks then. i can remember when Az passed a million in population. now where are we, 4 million? 20 odd years ago there were so few deer in unit 13 that they didn't even let out tags for a couple years. biologists were really worried about it. they still don't have near the herd they did in the 60's, but look at the size of the bucks they shoot every year. the posse mentality, game cameras and chute planes might have a lot to do with it, but still, they are shooting some monsters up there. the biggest problem Az has is a ballooning population and a down cycle in precipitation. unfortunately, ain't a lot we can do about either one. when you guys are my age and older you'll talk about now being the good ol' days. Lark.
