    Crossbow permit repeal

Here is a copy of the letter I sent to Game and Fish, the Gov office, my State Senator, Pres of the Senate, 4 diff media outlets, and a couple ADA groups. Please contact Game and FIsh and make your opinion known. Even if you disagree with me, you have an opinion, its wrong 😂, but express it just the same. there are many reasons besides lack of strength to draw a bow that can cause someone to be unable to draw, hold, aim and release accurately an arrow. In my case I have nerve damage/neuropathy, essential tremors, shoulder injuries, and an auto immune connective tissue problem that causes my ligaments and tendons to rip away where they are supposed to be. Its not a strength problems. 3 shoulder surgeries to put things back in place forced me to look at other options. My surgeon at the VA was the person who told me about the program. The VA has been pushing disabled vets to get back to doing what we did prior to our injuries, especially outdoors with our friends and families. It sometimes requires adaptive means. Taking away options because some people have abused it, doesn't seem like a good idea. Go after the bad players. I know its extreme but Lets get rid of all handicap parking because some people inherited their grandparents old placards or lied..... https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScYIhOra-8hsDSgR8mjOmG99pSydNfhvrvufWo8B3zbBRfAtg/viewform rulemaking@azgfd.gov Subject: why is AZ Game and Fish taking away hunting opportunities from disabled hunters that are not disabled enough Arizona Game and Fish Department 5000 W. Carefree Hwy Phoenix, AZ 85086 Subject: Opposition to Repeal of R12-4-216 and Advocacy for Equitable Hunting Opportunities Dear Arizona Game and Fish Department, I am writing to express my concerns regarding the proposed repeal of R12-4-216 and the growing discourse surrounding crossbow use in archery-only hunts. As a committed advocate for equitable and fair hunting practices, I believe this change could alienate and disadvantage certain hunters, particularly those with physical disabilities who rely on crossbows as their legal method of take. The argument that crossbow technology has advanced beyond "standard archery equipment" does not hold when weighed against the progress of other hunting technologies. Compound bows to high-powered scopes, technological advancements have benefited all hunters across the board, offering more ethical and efficient harvesting opportunities. Singling out crossbows is an inconsistent and inequitable stance. If technology is a concern, should we not then limit compound bows, inline muzzleloaders, or range finders? Clearly, this approach is neither practical nor fair. Furthermore, statistical claims about the increased number of crossbow hunters are misleading when contextualized with Arizona's growing population and hunter demographics. With a population increase of 9.9% since 2015 and more individuals entering the sport, a proportional rise in crossbow permits is inevitable. The 1.3% of permit holders using crossbows represents a minor fraction of the total hunters and cannot reasonably be classified as a problem. Assertions regarding quick harvests and over-the-counter (OTC) unit closures fail to account for practical realities. Disabled hunters with crossbows are more likely to act on their opportunities due to limited mobility, while other hunters often prioritize trophy harvests, which extends hunting durations. It’s worth noting that nearly half of the OTC units remain open, debunking the notion of widespread closures due to crossbow use. Recommendations: Refinement of the CHAMP and Crossbow Permit Application Process: Introduce stricter accountability for medical professionals authorizing crossbow permits to ensure legitimate use. Transition to Draw-Based Archery Deer Seasons: Implement a system where all hunters, regardless of method of take, compete equally through a draw process for archery tags. This ensures fairness and mitigates concerns about overharvest by a specific group. Public Representation and Transparency: Include representation from crossbow and CHAMP permit holders in stakeholder discussions to ensure their perspectives are considered in decision-making processes. Arizona Game and Fish has worked hard to build rapport with non-hunting constituencies. Repealing R12-4-216 without adequately addressing concerns risks damaging the Department's reputation and undoing years of effort to foster public support for responsible wildlife management. I urge you to reconsider the proposed changes and instead work toward solutions that maintain equitable opportunities for all hunters, honoring the diversity and inclusivity that defines Arizona's outdoor heritage. Thank you for considering my concerns. I am confident Arizona Game and Fish will act in the best interest of all stakeholders. Sincerely, Steve

    Crossbow permit repeal

I read a different tone in this response. My problem with the way this whole thing unfolded is it was based on unsubstantiated allegations and anecdotal accounts of fraud, technological advancement restrictions only applyed unilaterally, initiated by biased groups trying to protect a doomed OTC deer hunt, targeting a group of people who already have many personal challenges. Are there people who cheated the system? Probably. Does it need to be reworked? Sure. Had it been worded as simply as the following, in my opinion the division in groups and anger by those who feel attacked would have been much less. The current Crossbow and CHAMP permit programs have become unmanageable in their current form and the Commission is proposing a purge and restart with new requirements. Public comment period is from .. to .. . (Given facts, purposed new requirements and restrictions on equipment)

    Crossbow permit repeal

Sorry to hurt your feeling. Not really. Low budget mentors are needed. You are Savage. I hope you get your 50yrs, some of us didn't and didn't abuse the old system. Yet still we get painted by others as cheaters, cowards, ect. Some of us went into the military as able bodied and are now unable to pull and hold a bow. Thank you for your future low budget mentorship.

    Crossbow permit repeal

Jdown, This crazy thing called the ADA let's people with disabilities still be able to get to the second floor, drive cars, access buildings, and even archery hunt. Hope you never need it.

    Crossbow permit repeal

Oh, you will, just with an airbow or crossbow.
  7. I have seen a few shoot off the end. Its actually how you remove a Surefire carbon locked can. Turn the collar and shoot it off into a berm. The reason I choose SilencerCo, Diligent Defense and Otter Creek Labs over other companies is for their customer service and warranty. Personal experience and customer experiences tell me they are the best. Others warranty their cans, but my experience with them have not been great..
  8. Definitely feel free to post your pics and comments. When I first got interested in suppressors, I had so many ideas from what I had heard over the years. I had a friend induct me into the cult, and since I have been helping others become addicts as well. I'm not the absolute authority on all things NFA, but I have a solid base and all my own opinions. Mostly based on facts-as I see them, others based on what I have heard. Suppressors have changed so much in the 15+ years I have been doing this, and so has the process to own them. They have lightened my pocketbook, but really helped me enjoy shooting/hunting with my family and friends. I am available to answer questions. I work at a shop and obviously we do it the best, however I actually don't care where you get started, I want people to be informed and be happy with their purchase. Im inserting a couple pics of things I uploaded on CWT over the years. Just for fun... Enfield_Innovative_Arms_integral_45acp_2_(2).mp4
  9. The Zero tax stamp doesn't go into effect until Jan 1, 2026
  10. have you used many steel cans? My first 30cal can was a titanium HTG Predator, they went out of business. It isnt very light, but I dont remember what it weighs. My first 30cal steel cans weighed 24oz, a Specwar 762. My Silencerco Scyth weighs around 8.4oz with the mount. Diligent Defense Enticer STi with the mount weighs 9.3oz. The old style uses baffles inside a tube. The new computer welded Ti baffle stack style is much lighter. The 3d printed ones have been a little bit heavier, but who knows what will happen.

    Crossbow permit repeal

My question... Will the proposed changes to the use of magnified and red dot optics pertain to the Air Bows as well? I didn't see them mentioned on the slide. Some states allow 1x scopes or unmagnified red dots on both crossbows and muzzleloaders due to eye focus issues that happen at old age. I do hope all the limits that are proposed for both Crossbow and CHAMP permit holders are likewise be applied to what is now considered traditional archery equipment. Here is the response I got when I asked about the comment period and to what weapons the rules in Article 2 would apply. Good morning The public comment period will begin July 11, you'll be able to review the draft language at that time and provide any thoughts, comments or suggestions. At this time, within Article 2 the Department did not focus on optics for any other weapons other than crossbows.

Suppressors, NFA, and the BBB ?

The zero tax stamp goes into effect on Jan 1, 2026. I know people that are going ahead and buying their suppressor and paying the 200, just to have their can for hunts this fall. A ultra lightweight 28 Nosler with a can might be worth an extra 200 to somebody...
  13. Nomad Ti is a good one. For hunting cans i stay away from the Ls. Starting with 1, I'd go with a 30cal can. Diligent Defense Enticer STi is my favorite 30cal based on performance, weight, length, and how the company takes care of the customer. Silencerco Scythe Ti is another favorite. I treat suppressors like optics. Set up a rifle with a scope and a suppressor and dont move them. Where do you live? Maybe meet up and try a few?

Suppressors, NFA, and the BBB ?

I think how it happened is awesome. A suit was filed to abolish the NFA based on it not being a tax. An argument can be made to abolish the tax on machine guns now too.

I will take it. Sent text.
  18. Im against the sale of our public land HUNDO-Percent. That being said, the map we are looking at is not from the bill, it is has been produced by conservation groups Other conservation groups have calculated the amount and mapped the locations of BLM and Forest Service land that would be eligible for sale under Lee’s bill. It totals 120 million acres across 11 Western states. This map visualizes the 250+ million acres of public lands eligible for sale in the Senate budget reconciliation package. If they want to get rid of the land, give it to the states. As to which party is responsible, my take is there is only 1 party, its Big Money. Both the Dems and Repubs take money from the same people. They don't care about us until its election time. They promise, blame, make excuses, ect, just so they can stay at the feeding trough. Picture if you will WWF Wrestling. The promotor decides what each side fights/stands for, and the battle rages on. Back stage they just share the loot. And plan the next battle. Who are Sen Lee's donors? Developers I bet are some of the big ones. The BLM, Forest Service, and National Parks lands are to be managed by the rules set up in the 1976 Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA), lots of words.............. Congress recognized the value of the public lands, declaring that these lands would remain in public ownership. Land can be sold, but its not supposed to be unless it falls into one of 3 categories They are scattered, isolated tracts that are difficult or uneconomic to manage; They were acquired for a specific purpose and are no longer needed for that purpose; or Disposing of them will serve important public objectives, such as community expansion or economic development. I dont trust Sen Lee to decide for us....
  19. I certified 2 this morning, a scythe and a spectr9. The times have been erratic. Was down to 24 hours in some cases, but 2 to 3 days was common. Lately we have been 2 to 3 weeks, but still have some 2 to 3 days pop up. Typical government operation.
  20. SilencerShop has many tax free, or a 200 dollar credit also. With the fast turn around that has been going on, you can go to a place with a Kiosk and you could be approved in under 2 weeks. Get them in time for your deer and elk hunts
  21. Don't pay more. Silencercentral sucks. They also were fighting to keep suppressors on the NFA.
  22. I have a Salvo12. My brother in law has the JK ones and I know a couple guys with the RexSilentium Seg12s. I like the Salvo12s the best. Then the RexSilentium and dont like the JKs

Bowhtr, I agree that things have long since passed the point of being primitive. Get ready for the flood of used Garmin sights, magnified lenses and clarifiers. OTC deer tags are the next target.
