Cabelas Geodesic Tents - Instinct worth it?
cactusjack replied to Norteno's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I have the Kodiak Canvas cabin tent, I like it better then the flex-bow style. The side walls are more vertical, so more room for cots. I also have the Cabelas Alaknak 12x12 that is great. Used it in 6a during a youth elk hunt about 5 years ago and we got snow, sleet and rain. Stayed dry and warm. My boss used it on the youth Kaibab hunt last fall and loved it. Having an option for a wood stove is nice. A good friend has the Geodesic Alaskan Guide and he loves it, but not with cots. He told me he wishes he had purchased a tent with vertical walls. So my answer is, all good choices, depends on how you like to sleep. I hate air mattresses. Always deflate on cold nights, or leak. -
Give Trent a call. I'm not an attorney, but I did drive past a Holiday Inn express once

Be very careful with the trust you get. It's only as good as it is written. Remember the law isn't based on what is right, just, wrong or unjust. It is how it is worded and how it can be twisted. With the political environment now, I feel much more prepared to protect not only my NFA items but all my firearms and related equipment. I think it's like finding a taxidermist to do a mountain lion. We all have seen really good cats and we have all seen the Pink Panther one that was floating around. When it matters, go to someone that specializes in what you need done.

I just restated my trust with Trent from Azgunlaw. Best money I have spent. My first trust did not do what I had been told it would. A Trust attorney is worth the $. 480-360-2776 Go to his site, www.azgunlaw.com I'm not a paid spokesman, just a satisfied customer

I won't go to Dick's. Nope. Ever since I went to Staples and saw that they sold staples, I just won't risk it. -
I will throw myself on the alter. I've poached lots of things. Eggs, salmon. Ok 2 things.

First hunt with young dog
cactusjack posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I started on the quest for another hunting dog about 3 years ago. I have had GSPs in the past and wanted something with the same nose, same drive but doesn't shed. I settled on a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. Then I had to locate a breeder. There is one breeder in Az, but he didn't have any pups. Called a bunch of breeders and found 2 of them with litters due. I settled on a breeder in Colorado, High Country Griffs. Money sent, waited. March 23, 2016 I got an email with the joyous news. Pups on the ground. 12 to be exact. I got lucky Female #4, here to be known as Harley. Made arrangements to have her flown in. I was going to go pick her up, but the time she was ready wouldn't fit my work schedule. She was a crazy ball of sprinkler digging up/chewing on everything of joy. I knew I didn't have the ability to train her properly so I sent her to Summer Camp last year with Todd Yamamoto – RockSolid Bird Dog Kennel. She did great. She likes to chew on birds some, but not too bad. I wasn't able to take her hunting last fall due to an injury to my leg, but I finally took her out for about 2 hours last Saturday morning. My first 2 spots had pig hunters in them, so I had to go to my 3rd choice. (ranked by cholla scarcity) Out of the truck for 5 minutes and we got our first point. They flushed and I missed. We chased them and we got our second point. I hit one, she went and got it. We let them go, and searched for another covey. We hunted about another hour till my leg was starting to get sore, and I didn't want to wear her out. We packed it in. Successful day. Planning on going a few more times before the end of the season. She will go back to camp this summer, get some polishing up.- 10 replies

Headed to Wilcox, hunting today and tomorrow. Will post updates -
I love seeing crockers hunt. Great dogs.

Those dead elk feed the coyotes, foxes birds and bugs in Az, so are they truly lost? Sweating the small stuff is what game and fish is all about. Lost revenue is lost revenue.

Dumb move - lost shotgun

send me the location you were hunting and I will take my dog down and look for it. She is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, aka The Gun Dog, she should be able to find it. Sorry for your loss. -
Having just finished Hunter's Safety for the 5 time. (my 10yo just finished) I get the whole "for the good of the country.." thing. But what keeps coming back to me is the "These are your animals, you pay for the opportunity to hunt them, don't let others that aren't paying for them steal them." I know they mean poachers, but we still lost the opportunity to hunt them and their offspring. Fair market value might be more palatable. but if you If they would have said, the Harvest goal is 60 elk, and to harvest 60 elk we sell 300 tags plus licenses for 2000 people.(give them the resident rate and base it off of % draw and % harvest) 300*148= 44,400 2000*56= 112,000 1700*13= 22,100 $ 178,500.00 loss to our state. If we charged out of state fees 300*665= 199,500. 2000*160= 320,000. 1700* 13= 22,100. 541,600.00 If we want to hunt our elk in West Virginia, we will have to pay out of state rates.

Anyone hunting in Arizona with a suppressor or other states
cactusjack replied to n2horns's topic in The Campfire
The wait time differs if you buy it as an individual or with a trust or Corp. Individual are 4 to 5 months, trusts and Corp 8 to 11 months. Still worth doing the trust, imo -
