    Adoption

our agency came over and did a mock home study with us to help us get our house inline. I had to put trigger locks on all my guns, it doesnt matter that they are in my safes, we had to buy a pool lifesaver hook and throw (like you see at a public pool), we had to adjust our water temp down a couple of degrees, fire extinguishers, evacuation map and plan. They interviewed our birth children and asked them how we parented. I was hoping I hadnt screwed up my kids and they weren't telling me, turns out, we had been doing just fine.

A home study is just what it sounds like. They come and look at your household. Do background checks, make sure your property is safe, financial review....

What 2guns said. It's an emotionally rollercoaster and there are no guarantees the kids will be "normal", (I was warned by a friend). I responded with Thank you for the warning, but what is normal and what guarantees did we get with our birth children? This journey has forever changed us for the better. It hasn't been easy, but when has life ever been easy? It has taught us compassion, understanding, gratitude, and unconditional love. One of the biggest things I gained, is gratitude towards my parents. They weren't perfect parents, but they made sure I was fed, clothed, housed, went to school, did my homework and followed the rules of our home. If the street lights were on, my butt had better be inside our house. A lot of the kids in foster care, have parents that were in foster care. It can be a viscous cycle. We do our best to love the kids and keep them safe for as long as they are in our care. We can not control when they go, but each day is a blessing to us and hopefully to the kids. Btw, my wife is the amazing one. She has been the force behind us being foster parents. missing one. My oldest is in Peru.

    Adoption

I have heard that adopting native kids can be difficult because the tribe can come stop the adoption as long as someone from the tribe is willing. They have to notify the tribe as well. Any truth to that? That is true in most cases. Our situation is different, the kids are in the tribe's system and have been from the start. The law governing native children is called ICWA. Indian child welfare act.

    Adoption

We have been foster parents for 10 years. We adopted my 4 year old son, who was a foster child. He came into our care at 2days old. The adoption happened when he was 19 months old. It was stressful but be is awesome. We now have 5 kids and 2 foster kids. The 2 foster kids are native American and have been with us 6 1/2 years. We would adopt them but we are not native....my rambling is basically to suggest foster kids.

    Hunting with a 9mm carbine?

Arrows and bullets work in completely different ways. Not a good comparison. A 357mag pistol is used for deer, the energy from a 9mm carbine should be similar

What I remember reading is they are going back to it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/world/national-security/fbi-moves-back-to-the-9mm-round-which-it-once-shunned-as-ineffective/2015/10/31/d7d0b994-7e80-11e5-afce-2afd1d3eb896_story.html

    Hunting with a 9mm carbine?

Im gonna say yes. Depending on bullet type and weight and shot placement. The 16+ inch barrel you get good velocity and energy. It wouldnt be my first choice but it will work. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/9luger.html and there is an energy chart you can open too.

    Family sues Law Enforcement

It's easy to make judgement calls from afar. I know a few of my fellow Vets that due to a TBI or PTSD are now cursed by demons. He served a brief combat tour and got an honorable discharge. It's a shame he ended up doing what he did, and dying from it. I think about things a little differently, we are all one chemical imbalance or head injury away from being in a similar situation. Just a different point of view

    Long range scopes

You are missing the full range. 3-9 without the triplet and 9-27 fully engaged

    Long range scopes

The only downside to my setup, is the lack of clarity, the intense headaches and lack of eye relief, but other then that, its awesome. I can shoot out to 2000 yards with it. I call it my first focal+second focal special

    Long range scopes

Im working on a new setup. I have a Simmons 3-9 with my Jim White Tripler attached. It gives me quite an advantage, 3-27 power. It is quite a setup.

backpacking tents.... what are you guys using?

Nice. My favorite part of the Hilleberg system is that it is a double wall tent that you set up with the outer wall and inner wall at the same time. In a rain storm, the inner tent stays dry. Great design
