Kyle, great meeting you. Good luck on your hunt.
-
yep. I have been burned by this once. Never again.

my lion was killed on a coues hunt. She was 5 years old and weighed 90-100 lbs. She is a nice cat but not one of the beasts my cousin has killed. She was mighty tasty and made a nice rug. Id really like to shoot a big male, however I will fill another tag with a female given the opportunity. She resides in my bedroom next to the 1950's navy spy glass I got from my granddad.

I use a bipod on all my hunting rifles even when I have it set up for my Larue tripod mount. I like being able to leave my rifle resting on the bipod while glassing. Keeps it out of the dirt. I didn't put the bipod on for this picture.

Thanks, guys! I was looking at them on Midway yesterday, comparing prices to Cabela's. The more I look at it and research brands, the more I realize that Harris is the way to go. There was one on Midway that was half the price and had great reviews, but I keep leaning towards this and something I read by Cactus Jack in another post: "I try to follow the buy once, cry once rule." Pretty sure if I couch in terms of it being for the kids, my wife will understand. She wants to see them succeed! your wife might end up hating me.

I have the Leica Geovids10s with the range finder in them. They are great. Quick to give range as the spotter. I wouldnt ever buy them again. The electronics get old and outdated and out of warranty way before the glass does. Leica offers a 5 year warranty on them, Swaro with range finder I believe is a 2 year. A lot of money for something that will become obsolete or antiquated. The other problem I have with them is the button to activate the laser is on the left side of the binos. Thats not so good for right handed bow hunters. I have Shreck hands so I can extend my right hand finger over and hit the button. My 15s are Swaro hds. I just upgraded from a pair of Swaro 15s I bought 15 years ago.

backpacking tent and bag recommendations

Lesson I learned. Whatever you decide to go with, take it truck camping for a 2 to 3 night adventure. Take back up equipment in case you have some equipment malfunctions or surprises. I learned I hated my Nallo3gt because my feet touched the top of the tent when I was on my cot. I'm 6'5" and the angle of the roof bugged me. I sold it and bought one with a door on both ends. A Kaitum3gt. With the huge vestibule on one end and a small one on the other. We have slept 3 people in it. 2 in the tent part and one in the vestibule with the footprint down. We divide the poles, pegs and footprint and tent among us to pack in. Been stuck in both of them for a prob 36 to 48 hours. They performed perfectly. Since you put them up and take them down with the rainfly/outerwall attached, if you have to take it down in the rain, move and re setup, the inner tent stays dry. Not a normal occurrence, but a nice safety net. -

do you want a 2 man tent and a 2 man bag? or a 2 man tent and a 1 man bag? Ok. that said. I like Western Mountaineering bags. What I have learned from talking to manufactures of sleeping bags, there is not a rating system that is standardized in the industry. Some go with, "It will keep you alive at this temp" and others fudge the numbers and some keep you comfortable. Western Mountaineering keeps you comfortable at the rated temp. Which is a pretty open ended claim, but from what I have experienced is accurate. I do use a pad and an ultralight cot. (LuxuryLite) My tent choice is Hilleberg. Weight to strength/size ratio is unmatched. The price is high but they are amazing. They are a full 2 walled, 3 or 4 season tent. The tent goes up with the outer wall attached so the inside stays dry even when setting it up in a downpour. Look at their site. The Nallo 2 is a great 2 man tent. I try to follow the buy once, cry once rule. But I haven't always and have a garage full of lessons to show for it. -
Are you looking for Insurance Replacement Prices or current ballpark used firearm prices?
-
Look at sold prices minus commission. The commission is 5% of the first 50.00 then 2.5% for anything above that.

Also pictured is my Stevens 22 Visible Loader, LMT308 the 25-20

I shot the 25-20 this morning. I bought 5 boxes of remington from cabelas. I was shooting at my Mr Target ar500 target with a hostage flipper. At 100 yards I ht it several times, however it wouldn't flip the plate. My uncle told me it was a shooter, he wasn't lying. I had a blast shooting it. I took some friends out and let them shoot my m16, mp5, lmt308, and a bunch more suppressed rifles and pistols. They thought my Winchester looked cool but they went for the NFA stuff. I stuck with the 25-20. Only thing missing was my magneto speed. I forgot it along with my shooting mat when I loaded my truck last night. I guess I need to take it out again. What torture. The m16 is by my friend's dad's 410 and marlin 357.

those are awesome. I have seen lion guides using them. Great radios.

The Shields are a decent gun in that price range. Not to crap on your thread or choice if you so choose, but I continue to get complaints about the Taurus PT111 G2. They have a great warranty however I wouldn't want to depend on it in a crisis. my 2cents

I will take it.
