How much scope time does she have? More magnification isnt always better, the 6.5x on close or moving stuff can be hard to locate your target. the 4-16 or some scopes are now 6 times, 3-18 are really good hunting magnification levels. When I have my kids on the gun, I zoom it all the way out, have them find the target then zoom it closer for them at first. then they figure it out. but I always carry my gun on its lowest setting, until I set up. I have the Viper PST 4-16 and the 6-24 both FFP. great scopes. I also have a Viper HS 6-24 FFP and Viper 4-16 on other rifles. Good optics. Great service. Great price point.

This year I decided to process my own deer and anything else I, or my family shoot. My 16yo daughter shot her first deer and I took a big bodied small racked forkie, to add to the 40 lbs of meat I got off of her deer, and it was a good cull buck. I worked at Smitty's at the meat counter when I was in college (24 years ago) and know a thing or two still. I bought a grinder, a sausage stuffer and other odds and ends to get it going. I have a small 6x8 walk-in cooler in my shop, so Im pretty well set up. I put the meat in ice with salt and let it drain, until the water ran clear. Then I put it on the rack to dry. Trimmed it up. Cut and tied roasts, cut steaks out of the loin and straps. The rest into stew meat and sausage. I found a sausage recipe I thought looked interesting. It called for bacon trimmings and I added cleaned and frozen green chile. Turned out pretty dang good. Now I need to get drawn for elk to really test my skills.

Trying these here and then on to Ebay or ? I have a HHA Optimizer Speed Dial for crossbows that I no longer use. I would like 100.00 for it. I have the stickers and instructions for it. It worked well, I just went a different route. I modified the knob on it to work with my Tac15i. It still works the same on all other bows. I will put Alumi-black on the shiny parts. A Slik aluminum tripod. It is an old one but works great. It is a M310 Master Deluxe. Extends to over 6ft tall. It is a good tripod. 40.00 sold pending Pachmayr tipoff mount for a Savage 99C. I have used Harris for most of my life. I bought a rifle that had an Atlas on it, and I love it. I recently bought a Smith Enterprises Lightweight QD MIL STD 1913 Bipod just to try it out. It is beefy. The Harris' only weakness has been lack of panning. Now that isnt a problem, as long as you drop another 80 bucks. That being said, I avoid all cheap knock off brands. I have seen to many of them break.

I like the Kodiak cabin tent with the porch. If you use cots it has the most vertical sides. More square footage at cot hright. I hope that makes sense.

Light Weight Deer Gun?
cactusjack replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
180gr accubond next to a loaded 168gr berger. Up until last year (or 3, time melds together ) I had to fireform. I haven't shot it much since I have gone the way of the suppressor. -

Basically yes. Brad Stair is the builder and developer of all the Tejas calibers. He loaded some 168 bergers for me that were screamers. 96grs of r22. I sent them back and he sent me some with 95grs. 3750 to 3800 fps was too fast. 96grs worked in Utah but in Casa Grande was too much. -

If and when I want to reach out a little further I break out the Cross Canyon Arms 300 ultramag Tejas. I just got stamped brass so I feel legit. Nightforce one piece ring/base with bubble cap. I had a Nightforce 5-25x56 on it but I hated the weight. The pst 6-24x50 FFP moa has been great. I had been fire forming brass from ultramag stuff. Hopefully can get enough new brass to end that. -
