Magnum Mike does good work.
-
I have a Aimpoint Micro S-1 I use sometimes. It mounts to the rib. Not as low profile as the SpeedBead but easier to move around. More $$$ too.
-
the Burris SpeedBead system is pretty good. Gets the red dot low to the bore. You are limited to what red dot you use but the Burris Fastfire is a good red dot. I have had one on my Super Black Eagle for years.

from what I have seen in the firearm customization world, inexpensive/cheap work can be good but it also can suck and most often does. I've seen lots of bad work. The following are some of what we see at the shop where I work. Barrels cut crowned and threaded sloppy or non-concentrically choke tubes threaded off center, bolt knob installed crooked, holes drilled and taped in receivers that didn't line up with the mount, ruined receivers, sights silver soldered on crooked and other odd stuff. The places that charge more do make mistakes, however they have covered the cost to replace the damaged items or replaced them themselves without telling us until after. the old adage "You get what you pay for" is normally the case. I send my shotgun barrels to Briley, my HK work to RDTS, and other work to smiths that do good work and stand behind it. It costs more but I've yet to be stung by someone who specializes in what I have sent them. side note, same goes for inexpensive parts bought off of the internet. lots of knockoff, out of spec, crap is purchased to save money. Quality costs more.

I built a retro rifle with all the take off parts that came with my m16. I got lucky that the guy I bought mine from kept everything when he built a M4 clone. Nodakspud wakes retro lowers that match the uppers for the period (lines and finishes). Still Frankenstein, but a little less noticeable. Good luck with your sale. My retro and my m4 clone.

welcome to the party. A 22 can is a gateway drug btw.

Another possible option . Get a muzzle brake for a suppressor, and while you wait to get a suppressor, get a blast shield. https://silencerco.com/shop/asr-blast-shield/

Im 99% sure you need a 5/8 x 24 thread protector, but I'm 100% sure you need a suppressor. For the thread protector, try calling Ruger customer service and see it they will send you a free one (it happens sometimes) if not free they can at least get you one that has the right outside diameter.

I just found the dies for mine. I'm gonna keep mine, I figure I will use it in Hawaii, I got invited to hunt Sitka deer there, and no suppressors allowed.

when I bought it.

I have a Sendero. I bought it here a couple years ago. Lance had worked up a load for it for the guy I bought it from. I shot it a couple times, but switched to suppressed rifles, and it shot so well I didn't want to get it threaded. I can send pictures of what I have. The load info book Lance put together, probably 80 rounds of the Lance loads, some once fired (20 I think) , a bunch of unfired new brass and maybe 4 boxes factory ammo. If interested, let me know

I grabbed one of the 1895 Dark 45/70s for 850 from Sportsmans about 2 years ago. It suppressed amazingly. Black butterfly loads tons of stuff for it. Last time I checked they were selling above 2500.

a ROUS!! Rodents of Unusual Size!!!

the 2 main causes are increased back pressure and changing the harmonics in your barrel due to added weight and changing how the energy is mitigated. I chrono with and without the suppressor and have seen a 40 to 50 fps increase due to increased back pressure and you will a POI shift. And in most cases it is repeatable. If it isnt repeatable check the mounting system. I have seen problems with people using crush washers to time muzzle brakes, not tightening the can all the way or differently, barrels threaded not concentric to the bore, badly designed suppressors, to bad combination (just like some guns like different ammo/load). If you have any other questions or issues, send me a PM or come see me at Mr Silencer. I work there a couple days a week. Steve aka Cactus Jack

I had a pair of dress shoes crumble out at dinner. I thought the problem was only in that brand. Nope. It was the same problem. Wear them more seems to be the answer.

Yep. Camino GTX

What barrel length? 20 or 29?
-
Can you take a picture with a round through the trigger opening with a flying squirrel about to land in the background?
-
Mine. Not for sale. I bought it stock, put a lift on it. Now taking it back to original, glad I kept all the parts.
-
I was wrong. I only have 1 box of the 180s. Not worth changing anything for 20 rounds. Good luck finding the 150s. BTT
-
I have a couple boxes of the SSTs in 180gr, not 150s. Would need to be rezeroed, but they are available.

I will take the 22. Pm inbound

AR10 build need scope recommendations
cactusjack replied to ctafoya's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
That Nightforce 2.5-20 in your cart is nice. if it is a truck gun, or you have a Sherpa, go with as big and heavy as you can afford. I have a friend that I just helped set up his AR10 and he has a S&B 5-45x56 PM ll High Power. Best optic I have ever got to play with, imo, but about 4k out of my budget and heavier than I would like. I really like the MK5 in the 3.6-18. I'd watch for a demo/display model to pop up. I use the VX5 and VX6s. Im not an operator or contractor so I don't need a battle rig. -
REMINGTON 700 ULTIMATE Muzzleloader
cactusjack replied to marlin's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I can remember 2 different ones. The original and the ultimate. The ultimate being their long range one. I have the ultimate. I'm probably going to rebarrel mine in .45, I keep reading about the silly distances, groups and kills people are getting.
