    My sons first turkey 2022

Great write up. We were glad to help him.
  6. I have a youth 20ga in Tucson that needs a ride to Phoenix either today or tomorrow. A friend asked to borrow it for his son's turkey hunt that starts Friday, he had another shotgun set up but that fell through. His son is on the smaller side and afraid of using a 12ga. I forgot that my son had my Beretta al391 it in Tucson. Im going down Thursday but its a day late.

Thank you for the all the offers to help. It shows that we as a community are willing to do, to help others, even when there isn't any personal benefit. The shotgun made it up here in time, I can't wait to see pictures and hear the tales of his hunt. Sent both my youth guns up, gotta have a backup plan.... This story started out with a friend looking for 20ga turkey shells, then progressed to me locating, transporting and upgrading my youth shotguns. My friend came over 2 weeks ago and grabbed a couple of boxes of shells. He has a couple 20ga shotguns but they are full sized. He had a youth model lined up, the owner thought it was a 20, but was mistaken. I offered my youth shotguns (have an 870 Youth Magnum and a Beretta 391) Went to get the Beretta from a safe, realized it was in Tucson. The optic system I had on my 870 was less than desirable, had an old weaver side saddle system on it that was modified to adjust for being a thinner receiver. I pulled the pins on the 870 probably 15 years ago and it took me a couple of days to locate them. Got them in and mounted a Holosun on a Truglo universal rib mount. Hopefully it works well for this hunt. I ordered a Scalarworks Sync/04 and when it gets here I will replace the rib mount and have the reciever drilled and tapped for the rail. I like them because it is the lowest method I have seen to mount a red dot optic. Getting it ready for my 9yo son, step grandson and younger family members. I have to get the youth all hunting so they can take me out hunting as I get old and more broken. Again, thanks for all the offers to help.

My son works till tomorrow morning, he will drive mine up. I just found out. He said " for a youth hunter, he would drive it to unit 1 if he had to." Enough people spent tons of time and money helping us when he was 10. His mom did a good job with him. Thank you all for the offers.

    ASNF Removal of Feral Horses

I have eaten horse on many occasions. In Europe and in Chile. Delicious. Just sayin.....
  13. The ATF can not search your house without a warrant. And just owning NFA items does not mean they can get a search warrant. You have to be doing sketchy stuff. But be aware, the ATF will shoot your dog if they show up, its what they do.
  14. Long story short, 8 years ago I bought heavier hiking boots to wear only a couple times a year. Stored them in my closet in a Rubbermaid Action tote. Because I had some medical problems I didn't use them for about 18 months. I had a 36 tag and decided to use them last Saturday. I had been wearing a lighter boot but I had lofty dreams to find a deer I had glassed up that was a ways back. About 3 miles into my hunt I happened to notice a situation. I had a very short discussion with myself, thinking about how to get back. Then I remembered I had a 1in roll of Gorilla tape that I bought on a whim. I made it out with bruised heels, but no cuts or thorns in my feet, so I consider it a successful repair. The lesson learned, all boots with this type of sole (non-welted), including all your favorites no matter how much you spent.... are susceptible to Hydrolysis. The lesson learned, Wear them more often. ( I'm guilty) Make sure they are dry before putting them away (not my cause) Store them in the open air. (I'm guilty) Inspect older boots before long hikes even if they look perfect (I'm guilty) I'm sending mine back to Lowa to resole them, at my expense, and will take better care know that I know. I am attaching info about the issue. The more you know...... https://www.lowamilitaryboots.com/the-sole-destroying-effects-of-hydrolysis-on-leather-boots and before you say not my ............ insert your favorite boot here, do a google image search...

    School me on getting suppressors

The ATF tutorial is great. A big delay is the FBI background check. That part is ridiculously slow. You can have a Top Secret security clearance, your CCW, a Fingerprint Card, and 60 other NFA stamps with some within days and you wait. Years ago each state was assigned to specific people at the NFA Branch. Not always but often we could call and have them combined stamps. If I had 8 stamps pending from different dates they would send them through for the background check at the same time. It made the decision to pick up a couple quick cans easier.

    School me on getting suppressors

as a suppressor addict for over 10 years, I'd like to say welcome all to the sickness. It starts off with "Im only going to need 3 cans, one for my 22, a 30cal for everything smaller than 30, and a 45acp can for pistols." then evolves into "I hate moving them around... I need just 1 more." I am now like the infomercial "Set it and Forget it!" put a can on and leave it on, no issues with POI shift. In the time that I have bought NFA items, the time has gone from 2 months to 6 months to 12 months and back to 6 and now to throw a dart. There is hope for the eform system, but I don't see the 30 day thing happening. The one constant with the ATF, is it is a government agency and efficiency isn't a priority. As big as a pain as it can be, the juice is worth the squeeze. Saving your and your kids/hunting partners hearing is priceless. Even with ear protection hearing loss occurs and once your hearing is gone, its gone. The "I always put my ear-pro in before I shoot" line goes out the window when a huge buck or elk surprises us, be honest. Recoil management isn't as good as a brake, however it is really good and people around you don't hate you quite as much. Accuracy is improved due to recoil, harmonics and flinch management. Confidence is improved. Pro tip- On your smart phone, get a scanner app. Make a file and label NFA Stamps. Keep a PDF of your stamps with you. I have never been asked by any sort of LEO for proof of legal ownership, and I'm not 100% sure the digital copy is legal (there is some debate on it) however my digital copy of my insurance card and other digital copies have worked in the past. again welcome the club. and to those waiting because the wait time is too long, the longer you wait, the longer it will take regardless. There have been many attempts to take suppressors off of the NFA side of firearm ownership. Some are waiting for that pipe dream, I too hope it happens, however my question to you is, when have you ever seen a government relinquish control of something that they can tax and especially get a triple tax? (11% excise tax, sales tax and the $200 stamp) Shoot quietly my friends!! 45acp at 100yd target. Enfield_Innovative_Arms_integral_45acp_2_(2).mp4

    Magnum Mike does good work.

Where to have shotgun drilled and tapped?

I have a Aimpoint Micro S-1 I use sometimes. It mounts to the rib. Not as low profile as the SpeedBead but easier to move around. More $$$ too.

Where to have shotgun drilled and tapped?

the Burris SpeedBead system is pretty good. Gets the red dot low to the bore. You are limited to what red dot you use but the Burris Fastfire is a good red dot. I have had one on my Super Black Eagle for years.

Where to have shotgun drilled and tapped?

from what I have seen in the firearm customization world, inexpensive/cheap work can be good but it also can suck and most often does. I've seen lots of bad work. The following are some of what we see at the shop where I work. Barrels cut crowned and threaded sloppy or non-concentrically choke tubes threaded off center, bolt knob installed crooked, holes drilled and taped in receivers that didn't line up with the mount, ruined receivers, sights silver soldered on crooked and other odd stuff. The places that charge more do make mistakes, however they have covered the cost to replace the damaged items or replaced them themselves without telling us until after. the old adage "You get what you pay for" is normally the case. I send my shotgun barrels to Briley, my HK work to RDTS, and other work to smiths that do good work and stand behind it. It costs more but I've yet to be stung by someone who specializes in what I have sent them. side note, same goes for inexpensive parts bought off of the internet. lots of knockoff, out of spec, crap is purchased to save money. Quality costs more.

    Colt ar-15

I built a retro rifle with all the take off parts that came with my m16. I got lucky that the guy I bought mine from kept everything when he built a M4 clone. Nodakspud wakes retro lowers that match the uppers for the period (lines and finishes). Still Frankenstein, but a little less noticeable. Good luck with your sale. My retro and my m4 clone.
