    Big Eye Spotting Scope Brackets

just ordered the Docter 20-50x80 HD's. I hope to get them by saturday. I looked at buying 2 swarovskis and getting them mounted together, but that was going to run about 6k. I found a guy that makes the bracket, and the bracket at the Outdoorsman will not work. Steve

    hi cap mags being banned

If mags with more than 10 are too dangerous then cars that have the ability to go over the posted speed limits should be banned also. According to the 2007 Census firearms were used in 12,632 homicides in the US while motor vehicle accidents took 43,945 lives. That is almost 3 1/2 times as many people. Just sayin.

    leica vs swarovski

I say "yes" and I have both. I like Swarovski 15s better then the Leica because of the tripod mounting system, and I like the Leica range finders and spotting scopes better for their size and performance. Swarovski has better customer service but I hear that Leica is working on that. I have the Swarovski 15 + Great glass, great mounting system, fit my eyes great - heavy and Leica Geovid 10 +great glass, convenient bino/range all in -price, button on wrong side for r handed archer, only 5yr warranty Leica tele 62 +great glass, compact, light weight -its older and the eye piece disconnects (have to send it in they will fix it) Leica CRF1600 +AWESOME -Price Leica LRF1200 Sold it but it was a great design for its time. If and when my 10's die I will probably buy the swar 10el because Im trying to go with lighter optics. Just sayin.

    balistic calculator of the droid

I too downloaded Shooter on my Droid. I like it. I believe it is worth the 10.00 I spent. It was pretty cool to just point the phone at the target to get the angle. Im looking at a Kestrel weather station that links to it, not quite sold on it yet.

    Hunting on Camp Navajo

I thought drawing an Any Elk tag for the Disabled Veterans hunt was a lucky thing, boy was I wrong. I have hunted that hunt 4 times earlier, 2 with bull tags and 2 with cow tags and have had a good time. I have read the disclaimer that the Post (Camp Navajo) can close the hunt for any reason if they need to, but based on past hunts wasn't worried. Well, things have changed on the Post, new Commander, more training and there was a little thing called 5 or 6 tornadoes that pounded part of the base. I called after the tornadoes hit to see if the hunt was canceled, but was told things would be just fine. I kept planning, spending the mandatory $1000.00 at Cabelas, Bass Pro, Sportsman and local shops too, my buddy from Vegas still had plans to meet me there. Thursday, I took off from work early to get up there in time to see all the people on the Post and make sure everything was good to go. Things went from great, to good, to bad, to worse, to why are we all here. I will save all the details, but we ended up with a 2 square mile area with 28 Disabled Vets hunting with rifles! (for of you that know the post, they had us in the East buffer area south of Tappen Spings to Gate 14) It was like a Singles Club outside of a Military training base, all hunters no game. The manager of the hunting program was blindsided by all the events that were changed and handed to him to give to us. He didn't know about all the closers until thursday afternoon. Most of the hunters are already home, not one animal was shot in the first 3 days. No elk were even in that area, we saw a couple great groups of mule deer. I left last night, I didn't want to waste all my vacation up there. I'm not mad that I didn't get an elk. I understand that the tornadoes were not planned but the other events that were planned by the Army (NCO of the Year games and Security small arms qualifying) during the Veterans hunt show a disregard for us. I'm upset with the loss of my 5 bonus points, the fact that I didn't get to hunt, loss of time, wasting the time of my buddy from Vegas, the $ I spent, the wasted vacation time, and the list goes on. Camp Navajo has their hunting policies posted and they have in the first rule this "The intent of the Camp Navajo (CN) hunt program is to provide all sportsmen with a quality hunting experience." Well I would say, and I'm willing to say the other 27 hunters would agree, that they missed the target. Just warning those who are planning to put in on the Post, things have changed. Be warned.

    180 accubond, 30 caliber

I use 180gn Win Silver ballistic tips on everything. It does a number on coues, elk and anything I go after. the bullet flies great and hits hard. Nosler makes them too.

    Hunting on Camp Navajo

If these hunts go away it will be sad. I will not be playing anymore, but I have some great stories of Vets who would not have had the chance. The one that made the biggest impression on me was a Desert Storm Vet who lost his vision in the Gulf. His dad was with him and they had a rifle set up with the scope really high rings. They sat with the Vet in position and the dad lined up the shot. When the elk (I can't remember if it was a cow or a bull but it didn't matter much at the time) was in the cross hairs the dad tapped the shooter on the shoulder. One shot, one kill, one soldier who gave his site to his country with a huge smile on his face.

    Tripod adapter for rifle

The Gunclaw is awesome. On our unit 33 youth hunt, 3 boys (12 and 13) made long one shot kills on Coues. 187, 332, and 333 yard shots.
  20. Went to the range this morning to check the zero on my Tikka. When I first bought it 5 years ago it didn't group very well and I was going to send it back to Beretta to have them fix it. There is a MOA guarantee on the Tikka. Limbsaver sent me a DeResonator along with a buttpad for it about 2 years ago and now it shoots pretty well. I shoot Winchester 180gn Silver Ballistic Tips, other people have told me they have trouble getting them to group, but my rifle seems to be happy. Here are some pics. It has a Mark 4 4.5x14 on it, distance 100 yards, pretty gusty.

Spotted 3 of them @ Mesa gfd office

295 75 16s. Thank you for the comments on my little mule. I took that out over the weekend on my sons hunt and gave it a work out. I bought it because it has the e-locker in the rear. I didn't see any other stickers because I was trying to act like I knew a thing or two about CW.com. I was the tall ugly guy in Amanda's booth in the Firetruck yellow shirt. It was good to meet the CW members that stopped by.

    Youth Deer starts tomorrow

Good luck to all the hunters going out for tomorrows Youth Hunt. May the deer of your dreams show up in your optics. A special thanks to all the "old" hunters for passing down the traditions of hunting and good sportsmanship. Now, to quote a cop show from the 80's (Hill Street Blues), Let's be careful out there.
