Wasted My Late Dec Tag For Archery Buck

Awesome deer! I can't think of a better way to fill your tag. Donating your Dec tag would be great and if you were able to go along for the hunt would be the cherry on top. Great pics' thanks for sharing.

    Best Chambering?

Good article. It reminds me of the old joke, "why do I shoot a .45? Because they dont make a .46!" Since then they now make 46's and 50's. The quest for the biggest, fastest, strongest ...., has driven most industries, especially ones where our sensitive male egos are involved (motor sports, firearms, golf, ...). That being said, I can't wait for my 300 Tejas to show up!! With that and the Leica 1600 that showed up yesterday, I should be able to shoot out to FOREVER!!!

  6. I didn't see anything racist in the presentation until race was brought up. Term limits would be a good start. Just sayin.

    Antelope shoulder mount

Love that you had the kids in the shot. Great speed goat (trying to get that argument going again) It seems like you got that back really quickly! 10 months? A shade under 4 1/2 years? Thank you for posting it

    advice on a range finder

Leica is coming out with their 1600 this year. It is gonna be the swiss army knife of rangefinders. I am on several lists waiting!!! I have a 1200 and a pair of Geovids. Leica is where I put my $$$$.

    Custom Coati Mount

Nice mount!!! I went to your site and Love the job you did on the lion and bear. Those blue ribbons instill confidence. I won a bear hunt and if things go well, I will give you a call. My kids were looking at the mounts on your site and I heard "Is that still alive?" about 8 times and a "that is pretty" from my 7 year old.

    Thank You

I went in the the Mesa office last week and bought companion tags for javelina for my son and 2 of his friends. They have the early 33 youth deer tags. I thanked the ladies there and told them to pass the word along on the great job that they are doing at getting these kids addicted to hunting. I now have 3 boys totally jacked to go hunting in Oct and working hard to have the grades to go. Good on ya!!!!

    question

If his rifle is only a few months old, contact Savage and get it back to them. They will fix it.

    Need advice

Just a thought, if the problem is the limb bolt can not be backed out anymore safely cause they will not grab enough thread, check out Copper State Nut and Bolt and see if they have bolts that are the just a little longer that match. I dont know if that changes the angles too much to work.

    flying ants

both good eating if you have to.

    flying ants

those are good eating! Just dont try and eat the wings. Had that happened during Survival School while I was the Air Force that would have been awesome. Call me Mowgli! Here is what I found. Most ants in a colony are wingless, sterile females. When the reproductive cycle occurs, winged males and winged females (virgin queens) typically fly out in swarms, where mating occurs, after which the males usually die and the females lose their wings and each goes off to form a new colony. http://www.saguaro-juniper.com/i_and_i/ins...ts/sj-ants.html

    New rifle question

i have the synthetic stock on mine. It kicked like a mule, sighting it in wasn't a picnic. The pad made it all better.

    New rifle question

I have the Tikka T3 in a 300wsm, and love it. It shoots sub MOA with 18gn Winchester Ballistic Silvertips. Great rifle. Only complaints have been with their customer service, since they are now imported by Beretta. I ordered an extra mag from Beretta and it showed up 13 months later. I had given up and bought one off of Gunbroker. ($60.00 for a plastic mag also ) But it shoots great. I put a Limbsaver butt pad on it too, it kicked something fierce being so light. I dont know much about the Winchester. I have to go sight mine back in, I changed scopes, if you want to shoot one before you drop down the $. Let me know.

Maybe you could get in contact with someone at Matthews and get lighter limbs. I have 2 sets of limbs for my PSE bow.

    lion season

I think that Game and Fish is very happy with the 10,352 hunters that laid down just $14.50 (almost a roll of quarters and a half) in 2009. That was $150,104.00 that came into the coffers with only 246 lions being taken. Of that 246 only 167 were taken with dogs. It seems to me that if only people going to hunt lions with dogs bought tags then the our Game and fish would lose out on a huge chunk of cash that supports many other programs and species. Being able to have that tag with me and "accidentally" take a lion was the only way I was going to take a lion. I'm not in the position to hire a guide to run the dogs for me. I bet most of the 10k plus hunters that buy lion tags are in the same boat. (I see that lion hunts go for 3 to 5 thousand dollars, does that sound about right?) I always buy my lion tag in January, I view it as a lottery ticket that might win and did win about 5 years ago. (lion not the $) I don't condone road hunting but I can't see that as a valid way to even try to lion hunt, the lions that I have seen crossing the road were gone in less then half a flash. So bringing that up in this debate seemed silly to me. In the words of the great American, Rodney King, "why can't we just all get along"
  19. So for the last "forever" people have asked me "Who will do all the jobs if the illegals leave?" I have answered "The same people who did them before they showed up". Today I was at Taco Bell and noticed all the people working there looked young. I asked the girl at the counter if she went to school, and she told me that she was going to be a Senior this year at my local high school. My uncle told me he has noticed the same at the fast food places he has been going to. I see this as a positive in a few ways. 1. These kids will learn how to work that money doesn't just show up in mom and dad's account. 2. They will value the things they have to WORK for. 3. More money turning in our local economy, and not flowing south. 4. Hopefully they will see how much money they pay in taxes to help all the programs out there for those who are unable or unwilling to work and vote to make things better. I had jobs like these as a kid and so did most of my friends. The day I decided I belonged to the Republican party is the day I picked up my first pay check. 3.35 an hour x 20 hours didnt add up to the total on the check. Just sayin. BTW I took the family to Disney Land last week and was surprised by all the people who told me and my family how much they loved what our Governor has been doing. Most of the comments were from people from California, Oregon and Washington. Just sayin again.

    lion season

My wife has informed that size doesn't really matter However I will answer your question with a question " if you are hunting javelina in the January archery season, you have a deer tag in your wallet next to your bear and lion tags that you buy ever year, you get a 40 yard shot at a fork coues deer. You have never, ever, ever taken a deer with your bow, do you take it or do you take a picture?" If I am following all the laws governing legal methods of take, and following safe firearm procedures, why would another hunter have a problem with either scenario? Not accidental, but remarkable!

    lion season

thanks for the info. I would like to see how many tags are purchased by "accidental" hunters that go unfilled compared to how many are purchased by "real lion hunters" that go unfilled. I have purchased probably 15 tags for the 1 that i took. I've hunted over dogs for hogs when I went to Texas. I know it is hard work trying to keep up with them. It was fun, but I still would rather have a quite day glassing and stalking. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
