how did you guys come across the fox? Trap,calling or just spotting them.

 

We were deer hunting, but we knew there were a lot in the area. Just spotted them running around the hills..

I've been shooting like a 15" group at 110 yards... My sight can go to 125, then it starts getting too close to the broadhead.... Never had the opportunity to shoot a live animal that far.. "Just let 'em keep coming in..."

[what would you do?]

All i can say is that a 100 inch Coues' buck is not worth your life (or 10 years in the can).. Just be careful. We've all heard horror stories. And a bow is a deadly weapon so be careful on your word choices and actions. There's always more bucks in the next draw....

A lot of people here seem to have an interest in the Alaskan Sitka Blacktails, so I though I'd post some pics from my rifle hunt a few years ago on Afognak Island (neighbor of Kodiak) My dad and I went up there for 4 days, had some rough weather, but made it happen on two decent bucks for our first time. Whales, deer, brown bears, waterfowl... What a trip! MY buck is the bigger one..

The EASIEST and most EFFECTIVE in my opinion is put it in the freezer ASAP. When it's froze solid, ship it overnight to a taxidermist that has a freeze-dry machine. They freeze dry it for 30-80 dollars and send it back to you. Preserved! No liquids, cutting, injecting, etc.. I know of a few of them if you need some references.

Yes sir, that is a Sitka Blacktail taken on Afognak Island, Alaska a few years ago. I'll be back up there this fall, with my bow this time! ;-)

Well those Over-The-Counter hunts aren't a waste of time after all! I know Timberland Outfitters on here guides for them.. Hope we didn't take one of 'his' bulls!
