This is a great question.
In order for the Ward buck to be considered for the world record they would first have to strip the velvet and then wait 60 days to score it. That would only be a temporary score until the spring of 2011 when P&Y has there biannual convention where the buck would be panel scored. Some of you are saying P&Y does take bucks in velvet and, yes they do but there is a catch. If you enter a buck in velvet into P&Y they do not list it with the current ranked bucks it will be listed in the newest P&Y book under the velvet category. The buck would not be published in any other books after that. Velvet animals are not considered for the all time book. The state book allows you to enter velvet bucks in it but they take 2.5% deduction after the 60 day drying period.
