    Need a little Help.

can't say I ahve ever been questioned by the BP or Fish and Game or anybody except when I did not have it on. Wear it and hope you do not need to use it. I would say 33 is a better bet but the truth is hunting is dangerous regardless fo who is out there. As for the bow thing I must admit I am darn good "Try to shoot through the neck of a 2 or 3 litre bottle with your uncle breathing down your neck" Even with that confidence what would you do if you encountered a lion in position to have a taste of you or the piggy you are trailing or the coues you just shot. I belive I am going for the .41 mag on my hip. I guess we each decide what to do. Stop by a camp or two they will be glad to have you stay with them. I have never been turned down.

    Area 33 Archery

Ther are no deer in 33. Stay out of 33. Bad weather, wind, snow, burrrr! If there are any deer in 33 I will let you know. Ok Reddington Pass is a good idea. The whole unit is a good idea. I suggest you try unit 34

    Camping situation

Bret I am heading out later today. Had some business that delayed me. I think I am goingto try to work my way north toward Lobo Peak. I used to be able to get way up there in my truck.. We will see. I think its time for me to get away fro the Cerro's for a while. Its real crowded.

    Camping situation

Bret I saw some real bruisers on Batamote while I was scouting a few weeks back. Where did you camp and did you get one of them? i will be in Thursday the 10th Probably going to abandon the Batamote spot and go deep. Cerro's behind BAtamote or Lower Serritas Lobo Peak. Gonna decide based on traffic.

    36A Nov Hunt

I will be there on the 10th Hope to see you. We will stop by.
  7. Thats one skinny lion! Not sure it was him eating those bucks. I think he was looking for scraps. I bet if you look around there are much more dominant lion tracks and probably a lot bigger.
  8. I spent the first 15 of my hunting years Eastern Whitetail.. They are great. Some wonderful door as smart as anyting on feet. Their size is the disadvantage. After the first couple years it seemed very easy to find respectable bucks. I had great success. Could hunt the same area year afte ryear and have the same success. In fact we actually had a shoot your first deer spot. Over the course of 10 years no less then 6 hunters shot and killed 8 pointers 4x4 out west. All substantial and all basically shot within 100 yards of each other. Its thick and if it you stay still and downwind there is little chance you will be found out Out here if you are lucky enough to find a Coues buck now you have to shoot it. The terrain is rough and open so whatever you can see can see you. The things are like ghosts and have skills like a mountain goat. Not that Eastern Whitetail hunting ever got old. Its just this is a much more even playing field.

    question on my deer

Casey No matter how many shots you took you bagged the deer. That was your goal. Even fi you took him onthe first shot somebody would have made up a reason to make fun of you. We are jealous! As long as you achieved your goal ther eis nothing to explain. I was in camp near Batamote last November. Not feeling great I was resting on the truck hood watching some guys on Batamote. They shot no less then 10 times at a spike at the bottom. Not a single hit. Now that sucks, but I bet if they had any more ammowith them they would ahve kept shooting. I think it was because they were hunting and until the game is dead you are still hunting. You hear lots of stories about the old he was 325 yards with a cross wind and I knocked him over with one shot. They are not that exciting really. Yours sounded exciting and reminded me of the hunt. I am in this weekend 36A thinking of heading in much farther this year. Had some good scouts in Oct so I hope it pays off. Your welcome to come glass for me after all the money you spent on glass you may as well use them a little. GN

I generally camp in the same area. You camped on the right(north)side just off near Champurro Wash. I will be there on Thursday the 10th. Dark Blue Ford Crew Cab F150 We spend most of our time in the Cerro's but I am thinking of heading over to the North side of the ranch into the lower Serittas I was scouting the area and saw some very impressive Mulies near camp. the Coues were hiding!

    I need help

I grew up hunting the Hudson Valley in NY. It took a while to learn the ways of the Coues. I would be happy to help you. I have a Nov rifle tag. and always go after the rifle season for Over the counter bow tag. It is a completely different scene but its still bow hunting. I will take some heat for this but except for the stand shot back East the Southern Arizona terrain is much easier to glass and shoot. Only problem is there is really no place to hide. If you are hunting upstate its not a lot different then back East. Just a lot more open under the pine canopy. If your interested let me know. I live in Phx.
