    about time

Yea, at this rate the next thing you'll see is people pumping water from hydration packs in a mist out in front of them walking to cushion the stalks. May have something here. Anyone packing a 50 gallon water pack yet? EEEEEEHHHHH!!!!!! Dan
  2. The legs worked the best this season. A lot of cactus thorns pulled lately though. The sportsman warehouse $3.99 tripod chairs worked only thing we wore out 3 glassin between Aug and Jan. And before you guys comment I ain't a fat boy either. New camera worked great with the scope. Downloading pictures did not work. New Encore works but did not have any work. 80.00 Plain frame pack worked good haulin out a friends MZ elk. Last I probably worked to much. Dan

    24B Porkers

There will always be pigs in 24B,...glass harder they are there. My wife has a 24b HAM hunt as well and I have never gone in there without finding pigs. The apache trail area is loaed with them,...... plenty ofareas to glass for miles. Glad to hear your scouting early though. I gave up on the southern end of the unit with all the quads, quail hunters and renesaince festival people, the norhtern portions of 24b always have a few good herds. Try near davis wash or pine creek their there. Dan

    Did I hit it?

You won't have to worry about any rain washing away blood should have plenty of time to go back and look around again. Or maybe,....Send me the GPS coordinates and maybe I'll go try to locate the skull later. This topic makes me wonder what the AZGFD does with all the surveys that people return each year showing if they hit an animal that was not recovered. Dan

    Help with an outfitter please

Contact: Dan Lackner at China Peak Outfitters. He packed us in couple years ago for a 10 day hunt in 32. It was awesome. He will drop camp you or guide which ever you chose. Walk or ride in also. He providied excellent service. Met us at deer creek parking lot and loaded it all up. P.S. Hope you don't take my tag. Have fun, DAN
  11. Thats what happened to all the killer quail, javelina, and mule deer huntin I used to do near the superstitions. Gold canyon and Peralta road wiped out access to some awesome area. I think some of it was set on fire years ago deliberately so developers could move in. I even have 2 WT sheds from on top the flatiron. Wonder if there still up there? Like the agent said on the Matrix. You people are a plague. Just keep spreading, using up all your resources,..theres like this film or stench that I can't get off of me. EEEEEEEHHHHHH Dan

    Anbody Seeing Pigs

Yea, I have had the baby footballs running with mama calling for them and I mimic'd the mama's crying by mouth in 22 couple years ago and had the babies running back towards me twice. It was intended to "Lure" the mama for a shot but she kept her distance. Thought that was cool. I will attempt the mouth method some time when I am in a herd again. Dan

    Anbody Seeing Pigs

Billl, that is a cool design, I may make me something like that. Kinda cool using the sling method. It was easy walking. The J-13 has only failed me once in atleast 5 times other 4 we tagged out. Down by Oracle in 37B we had a herd just turn and haul butt the other way. In 22,23, and 24b it has worked every time. Go to Yahoo type j-13. He has live instructions. I just followed his methods and it works great. A few pigs Sunday came in hair standing straight up. I was thinking I may have to use my bow as a bat. But I just stood still and took small steps and they just were'nt sure of it all. Couple others just ran right to me and stopped. They were to small. They were just not sure what was standing there. I ducked down and called again and they all came right back. Hoping to call for a friend in 23 this weekend and 24b for 2 others the last 2 weekends. Then the wifes 24b HAM. She's nervous after watching the whole calling thing again. This is her 2nd time experiencing the j-13 calling. I spotted 2 huge coyotes 2 weeks in a row on the same hill. I need to dedicate 1 morning and hike with the .243 to try and take atleast 1 of them out. I want a full mount yote for my pool room. Dan

    Anbody Seeing Pigs

Drilled mine at 20 yds yesterday in 23 with some help from the wife spotting from a distance away given hand signals until I got close enough. Couldn't see any once I got in the spot so I pulled out my J-13 and started screaming. They came right in 6 or more. Had to pick and chose. It was cool. Figured out the easy way to pack him out. One of those slip on rifle slings fits snug over front and back legs. Found 1 decent little 3 pt WT shed on the way to them. And a 3x3 Muley lion kill Sat in another area. Been a good Dec/Jan for me and the sheds and lion kill heads. Found 4 Kills 2 WT,2 MD and 3 nice sheds allready in past month or so. Sent a few friends into 22 where I been driving by to my area they found a herd of 16 but his string came off drawing back. Sure they'll o back at it Sat. Dan

    Carp

Carp, the best description of why they are called Carp came from "Bullwidgeon" I did not see it in the thread you brought up. I remember his explanation something like because they are the deer that dwell in the lower altitudes hanging on the Bottom of the desert floor like a mud sucker "Carp". I had a 40 yd shot at a 2 point Carp opening day of 2006 and passed. Needs to be a little bigger than that to sacrifice the whole year with no other deer hunt. Now if it were the last day of 2005 I would have tried to fill my tag. Unfortunately I got no closer than 100 yds to a few 3 point mulies the last week of o5 w/no shots. Still fun to shoot pictures of though. Dan

    archery javelina

Spotted a Herd of 9 in 23 a week ago bow huntin Deer and found only thier dried up pig dung yesterday. I'll be back Sat/Sun to try again. Saw a few in 22 along 188 numerous times driving down the road on my quad. 1 was hit by a car even. 2 I took pictures of at 40 yds. Dan

    Test post

I found this set in 87' about 10 miles in on the reavis ranch trailhead. I have dozens from out there been back packing in there quite alot for over 20 years. Got some good spots. I found a nice lion kill in there and a couple other decent sheds earlier this year. I'm gonna take my bow in there over x-mas. I glassed up 2 really nice bucks at that time and am curious to see if they are still around. I will post a few nice 4 pointers here soon. Gotta crash have to get up at 4:00 a.m. Thanks, Dan
