    Rude hunters

Should this topic be changed from rude hunter to quad hunter??? Cause there is just as many complaints about rude hunters on foot and in trucks as there is on the quads. Whats the difference here? You that are completely against quads "Theres been a few" be sure to carry that SIGN huntin with you every year that states if I'm in a life and death situation here,... please keep going if your driving a quad. VRRROOOMMM Like that samurai movie I like good conversation.

    Rude hunters

Quads???????,.....We hunted 22 (Reno Creek Area) in Dec for 8 days and brought our polaris (jeep w/handle bars). We rode it every morning in the dark to the end of a road parked it in the brush, and did not return until dark every evening to ride it back to our parked rig. And that extra 2-3 miles of road we covered on the quad every nite in the cold was sure nicer than walkin after all the terrain we covered during the day. But we could see the road hunters and quads up and down the roads all day. We never saw another hunter on foot the entire time we were out there. We actually spotted 1 nice size buck from a mile away watching 2 quads drive under him less than 600yds. We also saw them ride out after dark while we were wlaking back to ours after trying to get in for a shot at the one we glassed up. All in all quads can be a convienence and a nuisance. With a little distance between you,...you should,...Kinda like when helicopters and airplanes fly over. There will always be assholes no matter where you go. Stillbetter than working. Right. Dan

    Rude hunters

Yep, Scotts right. Why destroy a nice truck. Wev'e all seen the road hunters on quads but don't be to quick to judge. them because you may not own one. One sad thing though is the keys don't have the electronic button to make the flashers and lites blink. It sucks trying to find the quad in the dark returning occasionally in the thick stuff. Plus they are ideal for the rim roads scouting for elk. You can cover a heck of a lot more ground up there. Just have to respect the other hunters. But I'm not riding my quad to work today even though its street legal. Dan

    Unit 22 Rut action??

We were in 22 from opening day till last Thursday and the bucks we saw were chasing does every morning till around 9-10:00 with their noses buried to the ground. Saw some spikes running around like crazed banshi's to it was funny. They would bed for awhile it seemed warm for a the first few days. But they would get up around 2:00 in the afternoon and continue. Saw no humpy going on or battles but saw some nice bucks we wanted but just could not pattern them and get close enough for a sure shot. It seemed as though with the full moon they were covering a lot of ground during the nites. Wed's we had one WT 2x2 (the one my wife shot Thursday) come in on 5 mule deer does scents and almost got a photo of this 3x3 muley all swollen necked head down (pissed) charging the WT. That was neat to see. Dan

    matched sheds

Nice sheds I have done that a few times in Unit 24b I will send photo's in over the holiday. Man I just got home from 22 and covered a lot of ground and found "0" sheds. Sometimes you score sometimes you don't. Thats why its killer when you do find one. Only saw 3 WT spikes and couple does. No ruttin going on. Dan

    swarvoski problems

I had that problem at first and I noticed by habit sometimes I try to push the cover on the eyecups when out I was packing it up. This process damages the little plastic piece inside thats shaped like a teardrop. A little pin is all that locks it. Like widgeon said leave em down more. They wil replace free just call them or e-mail. I used mine for awhile pushing/pulling straight in and out till I got the new pieces. Keep on glassin Dan

    Looking for quail

Deer creek 32 has a lot in that area power cabin trailhead from water tank to yellow grass mesa that area along the cliffs has a lot. I saw turkey in there last year. Dan
  20. This unit is a AZGFD profit $$$ unit for sure. 250 x 2 x 27.50 man,....Anyone know the code to get into the Dragoon Ranch gate?, seems like the entire unit is locked up. Have to purchase an ultra light to get into the good areas in this unit. This area also looks like it has recieved no rain in quite awhile. I didn't even hear or see any quail walikng all day yesterday. Curious out of the 250 tags if one was filled this past weekend. I only saw 2 hunters. I think the week off for my Nov. 30b hunt may go towards bear hunting and scouting for the wifes 22 dec hunt instead. Oh if we go it will still fun to explore new areas. Have fun!!! Dan

    30B access to any part?

Yea, I agree I think AZGFD should pick 1 unit every year and leave it alone from rifle hunters and see results. I am going to the Mules this Sat to check it out. Thanks for the info. Dan

    Hunting the Fringe...

Dec, Janis a good time to see a lot down low in units 21-24's I was in 24b saturday shed hunting in a favorite old spot and saw 2 really nice whitetails. Elev. was 5000-6000 though. Put my cheap instant camera up to my 10x42's and took 5 pictures only one developed. You can see the one has a nice rack in photo the other was turned. Didn't try to get any closer for pics. We went about our way. I did find a rack (lion kill) decent 3x3 and 2 sheds. 1 totally chewed by critters the other is average size 3pt. I was impressed with the amount of whitetail sign we saw. If I can ever figure out how to post pics on this site I will scan at work and post later. Have fun, Dan
