Awesome, elkhunter. Isn't that like 30 consecutive doubles for you and your pops?!
-
I never disagreed with your statement that one should always put in the tougher draw 1st choice.
-
I should have worded the last sentence to say - If there are tags left for your 1st choice when your number is pulled, you will draw 1st choice, otherwise it checks for your 2nd.
-
What you said is spot on for the BP pass. But the random draw takes the single, lowest random number you were assigned of those from each BP. If there are tags left for your 1st choice when your number is pulled, you will draw 1st choice, then it checks for your 2nd.
-
Good luck! Not great odds but beats 8 points by a large margin and we should have tags by '23.
-
I am at a similar but tougher spot with 9 BPs. I'm on the fringe of the pass in 2 units I like.

Shotshell reloading questions.
CouesPursuit replied to Presmyk's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I thought I saw discussion about them in my research but I didn't go that route. It may have been limited to pre-primed, unfired hulls. This doesn't get you the cost savings but it gets you tailored rounds not available elsewhere. -
Shotshell reloading questions.
CouesPursuit replied to Presmyk's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Just went down this road recently myself and I can share some info. Readers correct me if I'm wrong - To load the types of shells you listed, the setup won't be the simplest unless you buy all hand tools, which may be your answer. You might shoot steel for waterfowl and hevi-somethings or lead for turkey and predators. In an all-in-one system, this brings you to at least a MEC 600 with interchangeable shot bars for the different shot type and weight. I'm not familiar with 3.5" reloading but I believe it would take a higher-end model as well. In metallic reloading, you can swap case brand, primers and powders and "work up." A big difference in shotshell reloading is following recipes exactly and finding those components right now. Hull-primer-powder-wad-shot-etc must all match. Hand sizing, powder/shot measuring, and "rolling your own" might be the best setup option for hunting applications. -
Says the guy that justed posted the same complaint in 2 success threads that he has had 4 very difficult years finding them. Lol

Pioneer Pawn in Mesa is $15. Excellent transactions there. -
I have a couple young shooters I would like to help outfit with a youth model 20 gauge. Pump or semi, good condition, shortened/modified stock LOP OK. Local inventory is decent but does anyone have one laying around from Phoenix to Payson for a good value? Please pm me. Thanks!

I did say yes to both pm and text. We just weren't in a hurry. -
Do and share some of your research before asking for advice. Post back with the results of a hunt or tactic after receiving advice on the site. Be constructive more often than not. Keep threads on good topics on topic. Use some punctuation. Don't chit on someone's classified ad, send a pm, unless the ad is about selling puppies with no pictures.

Sandbagger! Nice buck and shot!

Guess you didn't see this thread was about purchasing a tag, not a license.

How about some coues deer posting! Finally got a late tag in one of my favorite units. Opening weekend had several easy passes and I had time to get a few in the spotter. With the big guys absent, the small 3x3s were bachelored up with lots of sparring. The mulies were solo. It looks like 3 more days of weather and a full moon coming just before Christmas. I can't stop thinking about where I'm going back when vacation starts next week. 🙃 Anyone else??

Close Encounter - Lion/coues
CouesPursuit replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I had a rifle with me for 30-35 consecutive days in the field in 2021 with 600 yard confidence, then this happens my first day out with only a bow in 2022. One can only laugh. -

Is there anyone with better video software than I that would be willing to download the videos and combine them in order? Or recommend a free/low cost video editing software that I could get started on? Thanks! -
I've got my opinions on ethics, spirits and laws but whatever weapon someone chooses, I hope people consider that sneaking into the herd is part of a javelina hunt. Getting to 5, 15 or least under 30 yards for every kill shot is beyond doable.

Close Encounter - Lion/coues
CouesPursuit replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I had only a bow in my hand 580 yards away. I found the doe and buck bedded at 7:04 AM. They were in an extremely killable position but I just got done processing my last deer a few days ago and decided to stay put. When they got out of bed at 7:50, I started scanning around them and saw the lion broadside just 50 yards upwind. Initially, it looked like it had no idea the deer were there, then they started feeding towards the lion and I started the swap to my spotting scope from my binoculars. Once I started filming, I immediately focused on the deer for a while thinking I was going to get an attack on camera. The lion was within 25 yards or so on two occasions, but it was like he/she knew they weren't close enough and tried their patience. I swear it was like the deer knew it was there and just maintained their 30 yard barrier and fed away until ultimately flagging, blowing and weezing a hundred yards over and slowly away. Eventually you can see the lion kept its pursuit but the coues deer had the upper hand this morning. Like so many encounters, if only the stalker saw the coues deer sooner. -
Nice work, Evan. This is one of the three main reasons I bought into shotshell reloading this past year, it is tough to find lead BB loads for coyotes anymore, in stock or manufactured. That and the price is unbelievable when you do find them.
-
Welcome to the group, Comanchero, and please keep shooting them coyotes!
