The ever-enlightening Thom. Thank you so much for clearing up the question. I'm not sure where CWT would be without you.

In a sense, duh (on me). And thanks for the reply. But, does that mean that the next 5 guys with 20 points did as well? There are that many people making the second choice accidental BP pass mistake? Also, what about the 2, 20 BP second highest holders, they both drew their first choice? Seems like a ton of random for the particular hunt.

Are new broadheads too dull - Good article
CouesPursuit replied to Viper's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
Interesting, informative, to-the-point article. I always thought if your arrow passed through the animal, the blade was sharp enough to fulfill its purpose. I even thought a dull blade with today's speed bows would do more tearing along the way, increasing surface area for blood loss. I now understand the contrary. Thanks for sharing. -
My Savage 223 even without the accutrigger is STUPID accurate. Great deal here.

Fantastic stuff, Cody! Congratulations to your wife, daughter and family. -
There has to be some wisdom out there that can enlighten me.. Males have bigger, actively defended home ranges, aka fewer lions eating game. With everything we know about females taking essentially any sized game they want, not to mention wolf numbers increasing, etc., why is so acceptable to let females walk? I understand the business and passion from a lion hunter's point of view, but for those of us that don't chase lions with dogs, and would like to see more game in the field, it's like we praise these lion hunter's to leave breeding females to live. Are we afraid of supressing lion numbers, are females not as cool, or ? Please, genuinely, I'm not trying to knock lion hunter's here, but why?

If I get what you're asking and was to be a snobby native for a second, it depends on which species of deer you're after. Not a distinguishable subspecies, but I've always thought Arizona "Desert Mule Deer" deserve some type of designation after living where they do and as old as they can. I picture saguaro/ocotillos with creosote/mesquite/paloverde habitat, somewhere near a dry wash that sees water as often as I do a deer season. Coues are coues, and Flatlanders post summed up the units well.

Central AZ archery rut hunt - advice needed
CouesPursuit replied to vegasmike's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
This. Commuting is wasted time. Many people I know have killed a buck in or just outside of camp. -
Congrats, great write up and very cool your wife shared your experience with you! You did it right!

Congratulations and well done, Marrisa!! Good job on the rest l, Dad and company!

14' Deep V should be just fine, what's powering it? Even if you didn't hit the main channel right away, launching your boat and fishing in and out of the marina at Saguaro is so much better than Tempe Town Lake or anything less. Lots of bass at and near the launch ramps and marina.

As someone who went from total beginner to something intermediate in the last few years, this is growing to be one of the best "how to get into reloading" threads CWT has had. Lots of great info here, especially if you couple it with some of Lance's load development threads to illustrate the process. If WOW comes to mind when reading all of the "needs," really consider whether reloading is for you or not. I started with a rock chucker kit and went from $350 invested in my reloading setup to doubling that several times over in just 3 years. I would think the same holds true for anyone under the belief that if you're going to do something, you gotta do it right. It is tough to just buy a kit and seat bullets into cases once you see how everything works, and crave to understand what you don't know yet. Quick example, I have a $300 savage that shoots 1/4" groups at 100 yards. I'm still playing with new combinations and chasing new loads. Then of course you have to wait for your barrel to cool in between shots, so now you need another rifle to chase loads for, and another.. It's sick. If you're still thinking yes, do it! It is extremely rewarding.

I have a 160cc/5hp Honda that needs a crankshaft diameter reduction and possible lengthening to fit a custom PTO for a project. Any recommendations on someone capable in the east valley ? Thank you.

Great info, thanks Matt for your offer to help.

Thanks guys. I could write a novel here, but essentially, this Honda that I purchased used on a screaming deal is supposed to have a 3/4" diameter and 2-7/16" long shaft according to any spec list and photos I find online. However, after purchasing a longtail mud motor kit based on that 3/4" spec (and the largest PTO offered for the kit), the shaft on the Honda ended up being 7/8" and the PTO won't slide on. Not sure how or why but it is what I have in front of me. It isn't the PTO manufacterers issue as I did specify 3/4". They don't offer a 7/8" but I sent them an email asking anyway. I don't want to buy another motor or swap a crank if I don't have to so I'm still looking for a professional to attach the PTO to my existing engine so I can move on with the build. Regarding adapters and bushings, I am not sure how far I can extend the PTO off the engine and still have the rest of the kit and shaft fit together. Not sure how difficult honing out this 3/4 to 7/8" would be either but it beyond my skill set.

Congrats, Lee. Sure hope it isn't your last! Good luck on making it to a few more.

Very cool hunt. I'd bet you've earned how easy you made the hunt seem. Congratulations to you and the hunters!
