I personally just threw myself for a loop and wouldn't mind some advice. I shoot VAPs and went to 92gr stainless inserts a couple years ago for strength and energy to expand broadheads, instead of my previous aluminum inserts that did bend in a few instances. The dilemma is I chronoed my older, lighter VAP and it is FAR out-penetrating the newer, heavier VAP. 413gr vs 468gr 305 FPS vs 290 FPS Would appreciate any thoughts on if I should revisit a lighter insert, although I would never use Penetrator alumimuns again. For broadhead reference I typically quiver 3 100gr gravediggers and 2 Muzzy MX-3s. They pattern identical to 60 yards. Thanks!

If technology fails can you still make the shot?
CouesPursuit replied to 300RUM's topic in Long Range Shooting
I keep to a BDC reticle and stay within my practiced limitations using field notes. I've been interested in taking my shooting to the next level, look forward to the thread. -
Very nice post, Stanley!! Love hearing of great customer service and cool to hear your boy saved up and got what he wanted! I've sent my brother to Mark a few times recently and every time he leaves with what he needs at a great price. It is always worth giving Healy a call to see price and stock.

You didn't have to bring your hot nights at D&D into this..

Me and a buddy took a mule deer and a coues deer within 30 minutes of each other in over a foot.

I don't have the ability to be a contender but I would love to go see long range for what it is! Any chance for an amateur circuit? Lol

Congratulations on your successful trip and antelope, TJ! Looks like it was a great time!! I still can't believe you didn't listen to Peg though, you knew she knows best!! Looks like you are still in training

My first encounter with a centerfire misfire was my hunting partner shooting Corelokt at Rio Salado. The range manager was standing right there so I told him we had a round that did not fire. He came over, put the round in his hand, flicked it, and said, "bad bullet." He didn't seem to care and said it happens all the time.

Low-mid desert. There aren't typically does in this area, FWIW.

Coyotes hate the set up options and maneuverability of the Harris 13-27" as I can always find a way to get comfortable. The photo below was taken a couple evenings ago. The big male coming into the call got hung up on my far right side while I was prone on the left side of a creosote, quick switch over to the right and I was lucky to get to him quick. My favorite position is bipod legs extended sitting in the shade of tree with the stock nested in my shoulder while calling. Zero movement required until the trigger pull. My brother borrowed it on his deer hunt after having issues with the grass in the past. He bought the same bipod as soon as he got home from harvesting his deer this year.

Haven't listened to Jay Scott in a while and these episodes are great. Andy's knowledge is impressive. I respect his take on it 100% and glad I listened to that, didn't mean to be offensive with this post and wouldn't have posted it had I listened to that before.

Whoops, thanks GJ. I'll try to enlighten myself first lol.

Actually, I didn't, and now I feel like an idiot.. Can someone help with which podcast that one was? Thanks.

I opened this thread on my phone wondering who the idiot was selling "clips" - then I'm the sucker! Classic funny !! -
Make it a challenge and go with a wiffle golf ball! It really does sound fun.

OP, well done, have to get creative on a college budget that's for sure. I know they cost stupid money but having the slips that go over my normal hunting boot have eliminated a lot of noise and trouble. I snuck up on a sleeping coyote the other day and put an arrow through him so I have to say the $39 didn't sting quite as bad after that.

Just trying to show off your sweet cat rug I see!! I have several airguns that I don't shoot anymore, looking forward to getting them back out one day though. And yes, one is a Red Ryder.

CouesPursuit replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Thank you guys it really was crazy. I honestly thought he was laying dead until I put glass on him and was watching his eyes twitch like he was having a bad dream. Little did he know the nightmare was kneeling 15 yards away. -
turned it into a real dirt nap.

Smh, who cares what we think. It's YOUR tag.
