There are crappie to be caught. Unfortunately, it just hasn't been at Roosevelt (in any big numbers). Think west, I'd rather not derail the thread but did figure some would be interested. Lol at comment about bait shop making the reports

Will I have any friends ?

I'm a proud ASU grad and I don't buy into the feud. What college you went to doesn't make you as a person or a friend. Congratulations MPH, hope your daughter has fun and gets a good education.

    Who?

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the Best Patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from New York , says, 'I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything Inside is numbered.' The second, from Chicago, responds, 'Yeah, but you should try Electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.' The third surgeon, from Dallas, says, 'No, I really think librarians Are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order.' The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: 'You know, I like Construction workers...Those guys always understand when you have A few parts left over.' But the fifth surgeon, from Washington, DC shut them all up when He observed: 'You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine. Plus, the head and the butt are interchangeable.

    Dogtra 300m shock collar $170.00

I have been using the Dogtra 280NCP with my dog for 5 years and it is a great, dependable unit. I'm also a big fan of the vibrating "Pager" function instead of the beeping "Call" most other units use. Although, I don't use it as a warning, I use it synonymous to our "heel" command. It has a lot of advantages IMO. Good luck with the sale!

Vortex Viper Riflescope 6.5-20X50 (Brand New)

Same scope here in the 44mm objective. I'm far from the level of many on this site but this scope in BDC serves my < 500 yard hunting needs perfectly. Good luck with the sale, JW.

    WTB Jr. Golf Clubs

It'd be cool to find another dad who was good at golf and do a hunting for golf lesson swap. Since you're always helping people anyway, put up a flyer or 2 at your local club house for the heck of it!

Wolf news hits close to home

OP, You missed the most important part of the article. "If you’re against the ongoing experimental wolf program there’s a few things you must do: Get behind US Rep. Paul Gosar’s bill H.R. 2910, Mexican Wolf Transparency and Accountability Act which aim is termination of the USFWS final rule of Jan. 2016. You can read the text of the bill by clicking HERE. Sign a petition in support of Rep. Paul Gosar’s bill H.R. 2910 by clicking HERE: Learn more on this situation at People For Safe Neighborhoods on Facebook by clicking HERE. Contact your representatives and tell them how you feel about the matter. Find them online at HERE. If you have a wolf sighting, take a picture if possible, and report it to the me and the authorities."

    Carp reports

Thanks for the response. I just upgraded setups and was planning on converting my old Bear to a fishing rig, figured that was the way to go, then just sight it back in for hunting arrows a few weeks before August archery deer to have a backup on hunts for the rest of the year. As for a report, I bass fished Sag a couple times in the last few days and didn't see any carp on the surface and only a few bass mustering up some beds. As you probably know already, I do typically see a lot of carp and buffalo at Roosevelt about this time crappie fishing though. I'll keep the thread updated if it stays alive.

    Carp reports

sorry for this unrelated question, but do you guys run your fishing tackle on a back up bow of sorts, or do you run it on your primary setup?

    Bird dog help please

It's not the only way to have a successful bird dog but if you decide to get a dog and train it yourself, your best bet is get a good pedigree dog of your choice as close to 49 days of age a possible, and get a DVD program and read a few books about the particular type of dog you want. I assume by your posts on the site you are looking for an upland hunting dog. I'm sure it is possible to rescue a dog and train it to retrieve birds but you could have a lot of bad habit undoing on your hands, the dog could have developed a fear that inhibits proper handling and/or the trust relationship that's required, etc. Lastly you can buy a trained gun dog or training for it, but it's going to cost you and it's my opinion the experience of training is well worth it! Good luck, it's hard to describe the greatness of the overall experience. I also think your wife will forgive you if you buy a puppy and let her hold it as soon as they meet.

    Most Prized Waterfowl

Scout. Get to the hunting grounds well before legal shoot time. Set up "the spread," by placing decoys of varying species and number to create as much realism as possible with the intention of directing birds into shooting distance or, "the hole" you would like to see the birds lands in. Set up a place to hide really well near "the hole," whether you build your own "blind" on the spot with native vegetation, have a layout blind (like hunting out of a coffin), a boat blind setup, whatever it takes. Drake has his own place in the boat blind. Obviously it still requires effort and some degree of scouting, but jumping tanks is like road hunting deer in my opinion. Not passing any judgement on how others enjoy shooting game, but at least for me, there is a much different reward felt for outsmarting critters into their demise instead of coming across them and pulling the trigger.
