WTB Remington 870 Barrel 12 Gauge 26"+
CouesPursuit replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Classified Ads
Yikes! Yessir I'm sure. Thx. Pm sent for more info. Thx. -
I'm seeking a replacement barrel for my 12 gauge Remington 870. Must be 26" or longer, vented rib. May be a long shot but you never know with the CWT community, I'm thinking someone could have gone tactical and the stock barrel is laying around? If anyone has one that they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price, I'd appreciate a pm or post here. If you have an alternative recommendation, please share that as well! I'm looking for any options other than buying a new barrel for > $150 for a 300 dollar and 13 year old firearm. Thank you very much.

WTB Remington 870 Barrel 12 Gauge 26"+
CouesPursuit replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Classified Ads
Brent, I have no real preference, especially if the price is right, and from what I understand the blued is better at keeping rust away and it's going on a duck gun. Also 28" is preferred, just didn't want to get picky right off the bat. When you say "mod barrel" do you mean you just have a modified choke threaded in now or is it mod permanent? Thanks. Lance, that's nuts. Story? Someone accidentally push a 20 in first or have a wet shell fail to clear? -
Says the guy who has harvested 3 and witnessed 13 breathing! Nice pics, 6ANut!

question... shooting targets versus animals
CouesPursuit replied to naturegirl's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
If it's not this, it's some level of control as mentioned variously above. For me: As fluttered with butterflies and excitement as I may feel, or have imagined it, I'm taking something's life. I'm not thinking 'I hope this ends up well, I hope it doesn't move, oh my goodness..' NOPE. I am thinking 'I know this arrow will hit its mark, this animal is (expletive) mine..' Everything in my body goes numb except that little piece of working brain I have left and my trigger/release finger. For that split second, I treat that innocent critter like it murdered my family. Works for me -
I will be out tomorrow in my stomping grounds straight from work and for the weekend. Deer was tagged in January, can't justify a bear without being able to afford its taxidermy at this time, so I have to decide between sitting water for turkey/lion/other or predator calling for lion/coyote/other. Obviously I'm going to do some of both but I'm torn on what I want to focus on. I haven't shot a turkey or a lion. What would ya'll do? Oneshot, I know you would say call for lion!!

They fixed that problem. Get a new metal magazine and you won't have that issue anymore. I just searched this and it seems to be a common issue and fix. Thank you very much, definitely worth a shot.

Like that cuz much? Make sure he.learns the safe way to clear it. I had a similar Rem .22 as a kid. Think they called them nylons. First one was tube mag and was flawless, but we ran over it with the '48 Willys. Returned it and got the model with the banana mag. Had to find the sweet spot for it to feed. Part of the reason I posted that comment.. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on my intentions! So, thank you! I have been taking him dove and duck hunting several times over the last few years and make him recite TAB+1 every time I pick him up and every time I drop him off, he does all of his own unloading and reloading, etc. But, he definitely still needs to mature a bit. Not living under the same roof, I'm thinking he'll get it for his 15th birthday and I'll give the mags and ammo to my Aunt to keep in her secured location of choice. Had a close friend who got jammed up with the same thing, during hands down the best duck hunting experience of my life. In layout blinds, we had thousands of puddlers pouring in - landed in our decoys, landing in our decoys, from 10 - 1000 feet up, circling everywhere, with birds still coming in as far as we could see. I was in absolute awe, we watched for 15 minutes before finally a group of geese came out of nowhere. As I called for shot and for him to get his first ever goose, his mossberg failed catastrophically and was in the trash that night. He was devastated after cussing, crying, and laughing all in panic. We did not get the geese through the mishap but quality ducks were plentiful. As you can see, the dog is still watching birds pour in and out of the lake and I couldn't get his attention away. 2 drake sprig and 1 greenhead are not pictured as they were stowed away for mounting. Based on the story above, me neither!!

I bought a Remington .22LR, model 597, jamming POS from the day I got it even with trying different ammo. I haven't shot it in almost a decade, just waiting for my 13yo cousin to get a bit older before I gift it to him for a birthday.

Echoing the above. In 3 posts I see must, might, and chance. Even with the best possible bullet weight and composition, you're handicapping yourself and risking a buck. Magazine size is irrelevant when you put that first one in the right spot. AR down them yotes instead!

Didn't mean anything bad just saying it is worth a search

Just saying, this is one of those topics that can be searched and sifted through for a quite a while, lots of existing content..

My bet would be that boat runs 30 +/- 2 MPH. And yes, it is really clean!

I don't see this lasting long, I like the approach/pitch too!

If you want to read, jam out, do a crossword, it doesn't matter as it's all good in the woods. Different strokes for different folks. And I can't resist, bradbaker, as I said on the trout shooting thread, you really outta think before you post. Calling out one's way to hunt says a lot about your character and maturity level. If you want to be viewed as a narrow-minded, inexperienced kid on this site, you've done a good job thus far.

I would say a minimum is 12ft and 10hp but that is an absolute minimum and it will take you a while to get upstream. I've ran it several times in 14-16ft boats powered by 25-60hp motors.

I would agree on the quail comments. I saw a few covey of quail having their second clutches in the last couple weeks. Haven't seen that in a while! -
Who's getting ready for otc archery!!
CouesPursuit replied to goinhuntn's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
I know I am, only 147 days to go! Good luck to everyone fortunate enough with only 15 days to go. -
Not newborn per se, but I ran into twin WT fawns on the August OTC opener a couple years ago. They were leaping over every manzanita in their way, I was absolutely amazed, that's what it takes to survive I'm sure. Thanks for sharing!
