    How nice is it

Narrow-minded comment, now you're becoming ignorant beyond your logic. Not all plants go dormant. Elk eat more than grass. "Of course it would be more optimal" is precisely OPs point. You went negative. If you can't see that perennial vegetation and hydrologic conditions will benefit significantly from the current precipitation, then there isn't much left to say. Enjoy the weather 😎

    How nice is it

Your comment on growth is just incorrect and your logic is ignorant to seasonal hydrologic and biotic relationships. I like OPs word-use "primed," a great way for our watersheds to be going into moisture during any month. Very nice is the answer to OPs question!

    WTT 2000 Honda Foreman 450ES

I have a 2000 Honda Foreman 450ES. It has been a solid machine and runs great. Family-owned. Parts of it could use some love but everything works and it has a 3-ton winch. A recent SxS purchase eliminates its need. I would prefer to trade for something the family can enjoy, starting at 50+cc dirt bikes and quads, but would entertain 400ex or 450r, 12x Swaro, Kowa Big Eyes, others. I value this machine at ~$2.5k and have cash to offset trades as needed. Pm any interest, thanks!

    Bedding a cheap stock??

Action screw torque is crucial in tupperware stocks. https://www.accurateshooter.com/technical-articles/savage-action-screw-torque-tuning/ I have only bedded one polymer 10 stock and it did help, but it was relatively stout to begin with. If yours is one of the really flimsy stocks, with the bedding effort involved, I'd consider an upgrade. That said, bedding can't hurt and could make good practice for a future bedding job on a better stock.

    Diesel repair

I have been planning on coming here to throw some support and kudos back Hunter's way. He took a call about a non-diesel auto repair and gave instant advice contrary to most of the internet belief. Well, Hunter was right and his advice saved me and my 300k Tundra from the junkyard. He also went through a lot of trouble to load the appropriate sections of the service manual for my timing situation. Thanks again, Hunter. Your name and number will make it through my circle for diesel repair and parts.

Building a boat for Lee's Ferry

This 40HP is a workhorse and I really do love it. That load pictured runs about 24 MPH upstream, 28 MPH downstream, 29 MPH empty on a reservoir. My previous 60HP on the same boat was 35 MPH empty for reference. A previous 55HP powerhead in the original 60HP outboard was about 33 MPH. The 40 - 60 HP OMC's in that era have mostly interchanging parts, including the prop size. Yes, I've had multiple engines and almost every repair imaginable to keep it running over the last 20 years that I've owned it. Lessons learned - 60 HP - change the impeller every year, especially when in service as a duck boat. 55 HP - running an engine with a sieve-leaking carb, even to get back to the ramp safe in bad circumstances, will scour cylinders! 40 HP - regular maintenance and learning the engine is worth every penny and effort. Keep fuel stabilizer in the tank and run the engine frequently.

Building a boat for Lee's Ferry

Skip 25hp if you want 3 guys and gear. 1. My boat used to have a console but 35 year-old failing parts were easy to rip out when a tiller became available on this site. For a boat this size and the utility I use it for, I couldn't be happier. I wouldn't go out of my way to replace a working console setup, though. 2. Buy a CNC for whatever outboard you get, this also takes care of 3 and is just sweet to have. Each adjustment of the trim through various parts of the channel, in different wind conditions, with different loads, or a dog walking bag and forth, is money well spent. 4. Yes. 5. You don't track deeper than your prop. My 14ft experience was in your same hull. I wouldn't be concerned any more with your boat than being new to running the river with any boat with an outboard. HuntnTAT2's advice on following guides without jets is key until you start learning the seams, as well as understanding the current river elevation. Dam operations allow for some shortcuts that one ought not assume in all conditions.

WTB Ready to Hunt Archery Setup

Have a friend with a 28" draw looking to get an archery setup with something used and reputable from the last decade or so. $300-700, 60-70 lbs, decent sight, quiver and a couple arrows and ability to safely shoot prior to purchase. Anyone selling? Please post here or pm with details. Thanks for looking.

    Elk Rut Update

Granted it was my first time in the best unit in the state, I watched a couple great bulls push cows for the majority of Friday and Saturday and they wouldn't leave their side, surely breeding. Not even one satellite bull around, just ragorns and spikes, which were ran off the herd if they let out even the faintest of bugles. These bulls never made a peep or allowed a bugle in the herd, yet I talked with the cows for hours. It was strange. Bugling and/or raking just pushed the herd a few hundred yards and they would settle back down, then we would try again. The hunter took a small bull we called in with cow calls yesterday.

    Charlie Kirk

I fear that guy was one-of-a-kind. What a terrible loss for conservative voice in a much needed demographic. Maddening. Sad. RIP Charlie.
  22. Great hunt, I left all 3 of these guys alive in 2019, each in a separate mountain range.

    Poacher Report

I would never say none but I fish there aggressively and I bet your theory is not a bunch nor even a worthwhile population. The lures and flies that have caught 100 smallmouth at Willow Springs in past few years have been used equally there and no bass have taken one. I could see it change in the next decade if things trend as they are. I probably just cost you a lot of effort to prove me wrong, and I wish you sincere good luck. I would love more and better smallmouth and walleye fisheries in our state.
