Costas and all the other hypocrites that want gun control won't call for stricter alcohol control because they more than likely have some alcohol in their fridge...you have to be drunk or high to come up with the stuff they spout!!

Bigfoot, ufo"s , Obama....delusions one and all. Why would people prefer to buy into a fairy tale when the truth makes more sense and costs less?

A country that allows itself to be hoodwinked by this clown we have for a president...no problem believing other fairy tales!!!

Replacement for nativity scenes
muleskinner posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
For those who have a problem with traditional nativity scenes, I suggest we use the following for a substitute: A full sized poster of Obama as santa clause, with an assortment of gifts such as, food stamps, welfare checks, free cell phones, and free vouchers to your local abortion clinic. Instead of lambs, jack-asses would be in order! -
Pot Smokers and College Bound

Bryson, very well stated and I appreciate your perspective. I don' t think our founding fathers would recognize this country at all. There is a conscious effort being made to sever us from any ties to the principles and values that made this country great. Where to start? We better start making a lot of noise in the right places. It seems that until now, the idiots have been making the most noise! Why are the only people that scream about being offended, are the liberal, left wingers that want separate us from any vestige of faith and christian values? How about those who are offended by the removal of nativity scenes from public areas? The removal of the 10 commandments from public places? I think it is time that we start making the most noise! Talk long and talk loud every time you get the chance! I want to believe that we still are in the majority...we just haven't been making the most noise! I still believe in God, country, family and the flag, and the rights of the people! -
I had the desire to live the outdoor life from the time I could read...my dad was'nt a hunter and my 2 older brothers were married and gone by the time I could hunt. I spent every available moment running around the desert around Tucson chasing anything I could find. I remember standing in a friends yard on Pima st. and looking up on Mt. Lemmon and vowing to have a cabin up there with a pack of hounds. I was about 8-9 yrs old. I have had several packs of hounds, but still no cabin on the mountain! I guess my hunting education came mostly from reading evry book on the subject that I could get my hands on. Thank God for a love for reading!

Moose acted like he knew the guy was trying to help him! Thats pretty cool, glad it worked out.

You're very fortunate! I had an older hound and a young pup that ran a javelina into an old mine shaft one night while coon hunting. Took over 100 stitches to put the pup back together. Totally broke the old dog from messing with em. After that, if he smelled a javelina, he would beat it back to me and stick his head between my knees and look in the direction of the pig. Glad to see your little guy survived!

Sometimes sports takes on more significance than it deserves. Fun to bat it all back and forth...especially when its in good spirits. ASU fans won the right to bask in the glow of victory for another year. I will take solace in the upcoming basketball season and try to root the cats on to a final 4 appearance! The loss to the Sun Devils doesn't begin to compare to the debacle of our recent presidential election! Too bad we can't recover from that as quickly as we can from a football game. Oh well, now i'm starting to get irritated again!

ASU has made 2 Rose Bowl appearances, the latest being 15 years ago. Surely ASU fans can come up with something more relevant to brag about. Like maybe a recent championship in baseball...no, wait, that was the UofA! Or maybe a legitimate run in March Madness? Don't guess you have that either. Bragging about something that last happened 15 years ago is like saying, "because I can jump higher than you can, I can get closer to the moon than you can." It really don't matter much! The truth is that even with ASU's well deserved win over the cats, neither football team has a whole lot to brag about, other than exceeding expectations. I hope Rich Rod stays long enough to build a winning tradition...then we will have some bragging rights in football to go along with baseball and basketball!

What kind of bear is this? Nutrioso, AZ
muleskinner replied to Norteno's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Nice bear for sure! Not exceptional though by most standards. I agree, you can do things with creative photography. The front pads/claws definitely are not grizzly equipment. We killed a 330 lb. cinnamon bear last year for my grandson. Very similar coloration. This bear has nice head for sure. You have every right to be proud of this one. -
Sun Devils made the plays when they had to. Congrats to them. Give Rich Rod time to get his own personnel on both sides of the ball and I think the Wildcats will make life hard on the ASU faithful. Nobody really expected the cats to be as competitive as they were this year. The defense seemed to be hanging by a thread most of the time. The coaching staff did a remarkable job with some very average talent on both sides of the ball, with the exception of Carey and Scott. ASU fans better enjoy this one; might be a while before the next one!. GO CATS!!

Sounds like a topic for archery hunters...I get highly irritated every year listening to guys tell about the animal they stick and never find. Every shot was supposedly a kill shot, and they just can't figger out why they couldn't find it. I know the unexpected happens with all hunters...but there is less margin for error when you're using a bow...please be as selective as possible before you sling an arrow ! Not referring to anyone on this forum, just some archery hunters here in my neck of the woods.

If i'm a muslim extremist, a spotted owl, or a queer, i'm dancing in the streets today. If i'm an unborn baby...i'm scared!

Apparently the cats forgot to take the defense with them. That was total domination on both sides of the ball, which surprises me. The defense has been suspect all year, but I expected more out of the offense. Oh well, still have a few things to work on. Still feel better about the future than I have for some time.

Conspicuosly silent...ASU fans all headed for therapy or what?

Wildcats 39, USC 36...How about them Arizona boys? Is that the 3rd ranked team they have taken down this year? Maybe we can start sniffing a Rose Bowl berth somewhere down the line huh? Give RR a chance to bring in some of his own recruits...who knows what might happen!

Is it just me, or is there an element out there that wants to portray people who stand up for their rights as fringe lunatics.? Insisting on constitutional rights does'nt mean that you are against gov't, law enforcement, or law and order. The document has proven to be a pretty reliable, and balanced piece of work, that protects us from over zealous and misguided authority. It should be mandatory reading in our schools, if it is'nt already. I don't have to a reason or an explanation for exercising my rights!

Shot a mulie back in the early 80s that had a drop tine on the right side. The back foot on the opposite side was deformed. Game warden told me that an abnormality on one side of the rack normally coincided with an abnormality on the opposite side foot or leg. Never confirmed that, and that is the only buck I have taken that had a drop tine. Shot that buck north of Oracle Junction. Would have won a contest at the Cash Box in Tucson if I would have registered prior to the hunt. My luck, a day late and a dollar short!

Be interesting to know how many of our law enforcement personnel have ever read the Constitution,,,which they take an oath to uphold, by the way. There is a ton of ignorance in our country when it comes to constitutional rights. " Probable cause", seems to leave a lot of room for abuse of our rights. No doubt, it was born out of good intentions...but the road to heck is paved with good intentions!

I have been stopped numerous times here in New Mexico, always with a firearm in plain site. Never have had a state trooper or a county sheriff run serial #s on my guns. Is that specific to Az?

My brother adopted a german shepherd from the local shelter. 2nd day with him and he walked up to the recliner, layed his head on my brothers leg, and dropped dead in his tracks. Heart attack, apparently. I lost a good hound to a tumor on his spleen. The vet cut him open and the tumor was the size of a soccer ball. Tough to lose a good friend like that.

If you decide to try a mule, you might contact some of the outfitters in your general area. Around here, some of them are cutting back, and even getting out of the business. If they have a mule for use in their business, then its probably a decent mule. Unless you are ready to spend a good deal of time learning the ropes, and figuring out how to train a mule, you would be better off buying one already trained. You might be surprised at the prices of some pretty good mules, especially with the economy like it is. I would insist on seeing an animal actually do what I plan to do with it, before buying. I rode mine, watched him drag logs, slung a rope around him, etc. before I bought him. He ain't perfect but he gets the job done. Most of the time he has better sense than I do about whats safe and whats not. A good mule will take care of himself and you too. Good luck.

Mountain lions would probably prefer that you use goats. I use mules and never have had any issues with predators. I never leave them unattended after dark. You might want to buy a tracking collar to put on the mule in case he does wander off. I just packed a 6x6 bull elk out of the mountains on my mule. He is 16 hands with big stout legs. I packed both hind quarters and both front shoulders in one trip. Started out of the mountains at 1:00 A.M and got to the truck about 2:30. Mule never missed a step thru some pretty rough country in the dark. A good mule is hard to beat for that kind of work. A bad mule ai'n't worth killin. Might make you wish you were dead! With canvas panniers you can ride in and then pack out. The goat deal is pretty interesting. How many goats would you need to pack 300 lbs of meat out? Of course if things go bad you can always eat your goats...probably taste better than a mule!
