    Quail hunting

Any of you guys hunt north of Tucson...Willow Springs, Olsen ranch, etc.? Used to hunt that area years ago when there was plenty of birds. Tried it 3-4 years ago and couldn't hardly find a bird at all.

We Lost one of the good ones

A needless loss of a man who will be hard to replace, regardless of the reasons why. Hopefully his family will be able to remember the countless acts of courage and the strength to stand for his convictions. Getting harder all the time to find people in public life who will resist the pressure to conform and compromise. What about his replacement??

    Another Border agent killed

It is way to late to keep politics out of the border problem. One of the reasons the problem exists is because one political party is profiting from the flow of illegals...in the form of votes. Border states are going to have to take action to protect their own . Their own law enforcement agents and their citizens. My prayers go out to the families of these men. It is a sad day when your own govt is the biggest threat to liberty. No more of our agents murdered by these people!! Round them up and stack their dead bodies on the border!

    Thoughts on Thermal Imaging

At what point does it cease to be hunting...and become merely "killing"?

    Archery Lion!

Nice cat. Had a guy on a lion tree a few years ago, we were communicating by radio. I asked him how big and what sex. He said" a tom about 150 lbs". He shot it and by the time he got back to the truck it had gone down to 80 lbs and became a female. She had her tail bitten off by an angry tom apparently, leaving her about 6" of tail. Not much of a lion but a whale of a bobcat! Anyway, you have had some great adventures with good fortune. Congrats.

Two nice dogs ---- FREE to good home

look like good dogs...be aware that there are people who will take free dogs and use them as bait for dog fighting! Hopefully you can find someone you know or at least can get a reference on.

    Prairie Doggin'

We can be our own worst enemy sometimes . Public perception is very real issue when it comes to hunting. You have every right to engage in the sport of shooting prairie dogs, and it is beneficial in some cases. Does it contribute to a positive public perception of hunters when we publicize it in this fashion? I seriously doubt it. To each his own, however .

Need the opinion of any AC techs

John, I am a trane dealer here in N.M. You covered it pretty well. Our industry has gotten a lot more complicated than it used to be. Gone are the days when 3 main refrigerants covered 99% of the equip. R12, R22, and R502. Typical govt meddling along with environmental idiots simply means the cost goes thru the roof.

Need the opinion of any AC techs

Dye is pretty reliable way to find a very small leak...most times oil is present at a leak, but not every time. Fixing the leak will depend on where it is located. Professional ac techs will be hesitant to try to fix something that they don't feel like they can gaurantee. That does'nt mean it can't be fixed. If you have a friend or someone who is willing to try and fix it for you with the understanding that it might work and it might not, then so be it. Replacement cost will depend on a few things, such as the age of the unit, etc. I own an hvac business and I have some contacts in Az that might be able to save you some money if you do have to replace the unit. Most of them are in Tucson. Don't know where you are, but I will help you any way I can.

    Just A Thought.....

Attacking people in a negative fashion rarely produces anything positive. On the other hand, some people don't know how to handle opinions that are contrary to their own. They view any difference of opinion as a personal attack. I think we should be able to express differing views and opinions without anyone taking it personal. I have people who I respect highly, while disagreeing with some things they do. Nothing personal. This is a great forum, and I hope it continues to maintain the balance that it now has.

    Guns for Sale

Definitely interested in the double barrel Berretta, if u could get me some info.
  13. We are still smelling the smoke from the "little bear fire" where I live in Lincoln county, NM. This fire could have been put put when it was 10 acres in size. 2 different agencies were standing by to move on it. The forest service ordered them to leave and let it burn. 40,000 + acres and 254 homes later it is finally done. I evacuated for 3 days from my home. Our forest service is being dictated to by a bunch of idiots and it is swiftly destroying our forests. The management of our forest. Needs to be in the hands of local, county, elected officials. Not a bunch of bureaucrats who don't care if there is a forest. Now we have road closure signs all over the place with the words," for your safety" . Sorry, but I don't need these people to keep me safe or to protect me. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself. I am going into the forest whenever I choose. These people need to be reminded of the fact that they work for us...not the other way around. There is an "elitist mentality" about this gov't that makes me sick. We are just a money machine without the intelligence to determine our own course. Just shut up and keep the wheels moving on the machine. I for one am fed up with it!

    Cool color phase bear

Nice looking bear...give him a year or so and he will be a trophy you can be proud of...no trophy right now if you kill him with a slingshot! You can find bigger , more mature boars, and you will help the bear population and have a bragging size mount . I don't like to kill any bear that is smaller than my dogs, even though they run the hide plumb off of my pot lickers .

    LOOKING BACK

Great post Bill...I was a kid in Tucson in the 50's. i lived off of 22nd and wilmot when there was little to no developement east of Kolb rd. I roamed the desert constantly, chasing rabbits and anything else I could find. I recently came across a picture of myself with my parents and sisters that was taken on Mt. Lemmon in about 1957. I rode up there on the back of a flatbed truck driven by my uncle who had 1 eye and 1 arm! What a different world it was then. Went fishing on Lake Mary that same year...caught perch like crazy on a can of corn. If I could only live it all again! Do you remember the " pied-piper of speedway"? By the way Bill, don't let 123456, frustrate you. I'd hate to miss out on some great recollections because someone tends to major in the minors. Onward and upward.
  16. Been a lot said about lions being responsible for deer moving out of an area. Apparently the prevailing thought is that a lions presence in an area will spook deer and they will leave. I recently got called to help a friend try to catch a lion that was living in a subdivision. This cat has been seen by numerous residents, as well as county sheriff deputies. We walked a small canyon behind a bunch of houses, and found several dog, housecat, and deer kills. Accompanied by Game and Fish as well as deputies, we drove the area at night in an effort strike a fresh trail. There was no less than 50-60 deer hanging out in the very same yards where the cat has been spotted. The dogs struck a track behind some houses and ran it right thru both deer and elk herds. So...why haven't these deer packed up and left the area...or is the idea that a lions mere presence in an area will cause the deer to relocate, a bunch of misinformation? Would like some insights into this deal. I just realized that I put this in the " bear forum"...sorry about that.

    Kaibab Forest Travel Management Plan

" public input"...when did that take place and where? Nobody I know had any input...or was it confined to those who agreed with the predetermined agenda?

    Buy American

I own an hvac business and we recently bid on a project on an Indian reservation. The project is being funded by stimulus money and it was stipulated that the equipment had to be manufactured in America. Kinda surprised me, but I was glad they did it that way.

    WOW

Well, thank goodness it's over. Pretty sorry performance by the Cats. I'm thinking someone did'nt really want to be there, and it showed. Mighty bad year for the pac-12 in basketball. Cal got hammered today in the big dance. Oh well, hopefully this next class coming in will bring the level of play back up to pac-10 standards of years gone by. On to mens baseball. Spring training and sunshine...all is well! Go Cats!

    WOW

Well, good game...congrats to Colorado, they earned it. I think Sean Miller should get pac 12 coach of the year for taking these guys as far as he did. Short handed in the tourney because he refused to let one spoiled kid become bigger than the program. Still was able to be competitive. Nothing but good things ahead for the Cats! This was probably ASU's best shot to even sniff AZ's rear end in basketball. You delusional, and desperate ,ASU fans might want to start reserving time with your favorite shrink for next year. You won't be having a lot of fun. Only a matter of time until Rich Rod. starts kicking your butt as well. Ever wonder why ASU can't attract class acts like Lute and Sean Miller? You might want to talk to your illustrious AD...she seems to be a real winner. She would'nt make a good equipment mgr. at a real athletic dept. Oh well, you kids try to sleep well tonight. Sweet dreams and go Cats!

    WOW

Onward and upward...go Cats! Like to see Colorado pull off a win tonight. Might make it a little easier for the cats tomorrow. Oh well, might as well face the best. Gonna need their "A" game!

    WOW

Great win against UCLA! Hopefully OSU used everything they had against Washington. We really need Chol to step up and flex some muscle tomorrow night. Go Cats! Can they win it all? Maybe so. Hey Lark, alka seltzer might relieve that pain in your gut! You're really a closet UofA fan aren't you?

    WOW

Washington goes down to Oregon St. Let's go Arizona! Pull this one out against UCLA! Looks like anybody can beat anyone in this conference tourney.
