Agreed. I have a Nikon Prostaff 3X9 with BDC reticle on my weatherby Vanguard 30-06, and love it. No issues and drives tacks.

Don't let any LE officer kid you that there is no quota. They have to write a report about their day, and their boss will not believe that they couldn't find anyone doing anything wrong in a shift. This type of government waste is what I find so offensive.

My thought was, "you'll poke your eye out" on that ride.

baiting doesn't equal automatic success. Bait also benefits the birds, and other small critters. If it's not out of hand, why screw with it.

+1 on best vehicle I have owned, and wished I hadn't sold it.

Thats a good looking site. I like it when they are not too cluttered. Looks easy to navigate, and all the info is easy to find.

Just wondering what your budget is? There are lots of youth model guns. My daughter is about the same height and weight, and she isn't ready for my remington model 710 because of the fit. A ruger M77 compact or something like that might work well, and comes in lots of calibers.

CHECK OUT WEATHERBYS LATEST CREATION

It looks to me like they are competing directly against the Thompson Venture. I have a vanguard in 30-06 and love it. It shoots sub moa at 200 yard zero with Hornaday ammo. The price is right for a good all around rifle that you can scratch up and not really care. -
Blue gill and crappie are some of the best eating fish! +1 on the Keystone Light... May make good beer batter, but tough to drink.

I also want to spend more time outdoors than watching it on tv. There are so many cool places that everyone on this site have given us a taste of, and I vow to go explore them more. I have lived in AZ for 5 years, and still haven't gotten to the Grand Canyon! Lame!!! I hope everyone and their family has a great new year. Dave

I think you pass the shot and slowly back out. Maybe with time the buck would give you another opourtinity. This very situation is the problem with putting in for southern units. I hunted 36A last year, and believe that this is what I would have done. Live to hunt another day. Oh, you can bet that I would have gotten a good gps coordinate for the BP.

In the old days, I have woke up in the morning feeling like that while walking out to the stand.

how to get the funk out of my new blind...
deercrazy replied to Codywhi's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
How about setting it up in the yard, and let a buck bomb off all over it. -
I thought the show was well done. There have been a couple of episodes so far. I was checked the first time I went out hunting in AZ. Thought I was way out in the boonies, popped up out of the desert onto a two track, and along comes the warden. He told me about some javelinas he had just seen, and I went and wacked one. They are good people doing a great job for OUR wildlife.

That looks awesome!

I just got a flyer from Cabela's, and they have a Sako A7 .243 on sale for $599. Just wondering if anyone has an A7 and how you like it compared to other rifle brands. I am also looking at either a Weatherby Vanguard (regular or carbine) or buying used. Any thoughts would help me.

My hunt last year was in a southern unit in AZ. I just stayed in an organized campground (state or national forrest), and I got up earlier to drive to my hunting area and had no problems. As posted earlier, during the day you are in camo and mostly sitting, UDA would probably just walk past anyway.

Playing games is a good way to stay quiet and still. I have a video poker game that stays in my hunting vest just for sitting. I think a blind is just more comfortable, and is the best way to go in the rain.

The more the better on 36B
deercrazy replied to Ace High Benny's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Thats a pretty good idea. I hunted 35A last year and stayed in the established campgrounds, but saw that lots of camps were in close proxcimity along the back roads. There should seem to be more safety in numbers. You have to get off the beaten path in that unit anyway. -
I hunted their last fall, no problems. Just stayed on my toes. Saw 12 different deer, no shooters. Got to get off the beaten path.

There are hundreds of thousands of guys getting ready for "eastern whitetail" hunts. If you didn't draw, like me, your watching on tv. They use their ad budget to meet the masses. I wish I could afford to go back for an eastern hunt. At least I would be in the woods.

It looks good, and like it should work. Kinda expensive though.

Great post. Too bad things like this need to be said, most of it should just be common sense, but that is uncommon these days. I hope every hunter is happy with their trophy, what ever that is to that hunter.
