If you put a free fire wood sign, no one will touch it. It you put a firewood for sale sign out, someone will steal the whole thing.

When my son turned old enough to hunt,he and I went squirrel hunting. We were walking down a 2 track and saw a muzzle loader hunter sitting in a blind. We backed out and made a wide circle around him to not disturb his hunt. What happened was that we kicked up deer to him and he shot and the whole herd of about 20 deer ran straight back to us. there were deer running into trees and we had to take cover not to get run over. One of the deer dropped within feet of my kid. I walked out and found the hunter, he never saw us, and led him to the deer. We still talk about that squirrel hunt every year as small game season comes around.

I like the idea, and would participate. I too try to leave a spot better than when I came, that was instilled in me from Boy Scouts. It is amazing to me how people can walk away from their mess. We were at Canyon Lake yesterday, and the kids were dragging sunglasses and plastic wine glasses out of the lake.

+1 for Fred Bear. Now a classic for hunt prep.

Does anyone have any experience with a Sightron Scope? They have excellent reviews for short action guns. I am going to scope a Remington Model 7 in 243, and am looking for a compact scope. The rifle was only $500, and is a brush buster, so I am looking for a scope in the $200-300 range. Must be lightweight, and I am pretty set on fixed power. any suggetions would be welcome. Thanks

Well, its getting harder to find places to camp this year. I vowed to spend more time in the outdoors this year, but closing the national forests is not making that easier. I understand and agree with the solution, just whining.

Well, I'd like to ask everyone if they have ideas as to what would make a bolt hard to turn on an empty chamber. I have a remington 710 in .243 that I have to slap the handle down to get the bolt to seat. It is the same on an empty chamber as it is with a few shot ie... cold or hot barrel makes no difference. any help would be great.

Sorry for your loss. I agree that it sounds like a professional job, not drug addicts. The police us the term "tweekers" to cover up the fact that they don't really want to investigate crime. We have had all kinds of copper wire stolen from work by "tweekers" that knew what 480 volt wires to cut(live sets versus standby sets) with extra heavy duty cutters which they brought on scene.

After 20 years in the Coast Guard, and seeing alot of boats in all manor of shape, the advise of buying a boat that the previous owner took care of is a must. Trust your gut, and if it doesn't feel right, it is hard to shake that feeling and then you won't use it. I would rather have an older boat that was taken care of then something newer thats a "good deal." Boat= Bust Out Another Thousand

Darn suburban pests. Cool pics -
I work for the Avondale water department, and the other day I see a vehicle approaching with a big funky bolbus antenna on top. It was a google earth vehicle running all the roads in a subdivision.

Agreed. I have a Nikon Prostaff 3X9 with BDC reticle on my weatherby Vanguard 30-06, and love it. No issues and drives tacks.

Don't let any LE officer kid you that there is no quota. They have to write a report about their day, and their boss will not believe that they couldn't find anyone doing anything wrong in a shift. This type of government waste is what I find so offensive.

My thought was, "you'll poke your eye out" on that ride.

baiting doesn't equal automatic success. Bait also benefits the birds, and other small critters. If it's not out of hand, why screw with it.

+1 on best vehicle I have owned, and wished I hadn't sold it.

Thats a good looking site. I like it when they are not too cluttered. Looks easy to navigate, and all the info is easy to find.

Just wondering what your budget is? There are lots of youth model guns. My daughter is about the same height and weight, and she isn't ready for my remington model 710 because of the fit. A ruger M77 compact or something like that might work well, and comes in lots of calibers.

CHECK OUT WEATHERBYS LATEST CREATION

It looks to me like they are competing directly against the Thompson Venture. I have a vanguard in 30-06 and love it. It shoots sub moa at 200 yard zero with Hornaday ammo. The price is right for a good all around rifle that you can scratch up and not really care. -
Blue gill and crappie are some of the best eating fish! +1 on the Keystone Light... May make good beer batter, but tough to drink.
