The tabs are combined into one now. I guess that I would take my chances, and cover the fish tail and the turkey legs with the tab. The deer or the elk are to nice to cover. Only a real jerk cop would give you a ticket for that violation anyway.

shoot, and I thought Arizona was just damned hot. All the guys a work think I am stupid for having a full rain suit in my truck until yesterday! They was crying and wanting to go home.

I have a CVA buck hunter model, and paid $139 on sale at Bass Pro Shops. I think the muzzleloader is the most fun to shoot at the range because you are not just knocking out boxes of ammo. You have to keep it realitivly clean to maintain accuracy and you can play with the load and powder combos. As in any of the hunting methods, I would purchase the best quality equipment you can afford. There are lots of kits available with everything you need to get started, but they are plastic and not quality. Talk with your buddy's or the guys at the pro shops and buy the right equipment the first time. I also purchased a longer than standard ram rod that I use at the range. It is much easier to use than the ram rod that comes with the gun. If you need to pull a bullet, the longer length is much easier to get hands on. Also, mark your ram rods when the gun is empty, and with a charge so that you can easily check the status and don't double load. Good luck and have fun.

I was thinking that if you ate it, you could let us know how it tastes. Just throw it in the crook pot with mushroom soup, how bad could it be? Just kidding. Should make a real cool mount, who knows, maybe Cabelas or Bass pro would want it. They have squirels and other little critters.

I've had good success with mine. busted them up coming over a hill, and was able to call them back for an easy 20 yard shot. The bad thing is that there isn't much time to practice and get a reaction from the pigs. I taped the call from javelinahunter.com and then practiced to imitate in the car on my way to and from work. I got good enough to really annoy my wife and kids.

I have been thinking about this thread since I read it last night. I am newer to AZ and since everything is done by draw, doesn't it make sense that you could always say what unit, because of the draw. I seems to me that the number of hunters in a unit is up to F&G, so the only downside to answering "what unit?" is the quality of the hunters might go up in that unit. I am always interested in hearing what unit because I am looking for new ground, but just because someone got a good one doesn't mean that I bank on drawing that unit. Just my humble opinion. I was on the hunt just after Thanksgiving, and saw 7 does, no bucks

I made my choice first on best chance of getting a tag, then hunter success, then finding an area that you would want to get to know well enough to continue to go back. I had my first couse hunt in November, loved the southern AZ territory, and will return for hunts on other game.

When I heard about the hunter being in trouble, I was thinking that most didn't know they were in trouble until the food/drink ran out, and that the hunting should get better as the game would stay more localized. All the other stuff in this thread is just someone trying to get everybodys rocks off and should be ignored.

Nice buck. It is always more fun and memorable when the conditions are not as planned.

Good day all, I went on my first Couse hunt this past weekend, in unit 35A. No deer in the area where I had scouted, so we set off in a few canyons that I wanted to check out. We saw 7 deer overall, but no bucks. It made my trip just to see deer after I had scouted a buck group earlier in the fall and came up empty on the first day. Got real windy on Saturday, and deer were hunkered down, but saw that they were in the steep canyons, but just couldn't put antlers on anything. Had a "how many deer do you see moment", so that was cool. They hide right under your nose don't they! Camp got blown around but had a great time in a very interesting part of AZ. Wanted to stop the Border Patrol and ask them where the deer are, but didn't. I was just happy that I was able to find animals. Saw some Pronghorns on the way in, and about 25 turkeys, didn't get a fishing report but was too windy to fish on Saturday so I doubt anyone was doing any catching at Parker Canyon Lake. Thanks to all who have given info for this website, I learned alot about the Couse, and It helped my hunt. Pictures next year I hope.
