I bought the Axis Compact in 243 back in early 2017. One of the holes for the scope mounts wasn't threaded properly so I sent it back. When I got it back they had mounted some cheapy bases on it so I took them off and put on some LW Talleys and mounted a Zeiss Terra I had bought a year or so earlier for about $175 that was on clearance. I also took the stock off and recentered the action as one side of the barrel was tight against it. Off to the range with some factory ammo and soon discovered that the factory 6 pound trigger had to go so I ordered a Rifle Basix from ER Brown for another $90. While I was waiting for it I sent the bolt to LRI and had it fluted as my goal was to have a light compact rifle for Javelina and Coyotes. The trigger was a 10 minute install and while the rifle doesn't drive tacks it does well under MOA with factory ammo. All told I'm probably into it for north of $600.

I have an Axis and will say there are better rifles out there for about the same cost.

A fellow forum member used his to take an antelope but I don't recall what caliber it was.

It is what it is. -
Seemed to be the only piece of info missing. Dependable engine.

I have no use for it but that would be perfect for Coues or Antelope out to 300 yards.

Is that a Ford V10?

Great catch. One of the few fish I've never caught. They taste great, mild and firm.

Happens every year.

Lance are you building this?

Exactly. That's only .48 ounces.

That light you think you see right after the burnt powder melts your retna is the bullet becomming dust. -
Thanks for doing this. Going new is a nice idea.

I would like to build something that with a scope tops out at 5.5 - 6.5 pounds. It should have a conventional shaped hunting stock. Barrell no more than 23", trigger about 1.5#'s. Either a 6 or 6.5 mm shooting a 115 to 130gr bullet at 3100 to 3300. The magazine needs to be flush with the stock. Price range of $3500. Scope, something with turrets FFP probably no more that 20X since it's for hunting not looking at the milkyway. 44mm Objective with 3.75 - 4" eye relief with probably a 30mm tube. No real budget but I'd like to keep it under $4K.

HaHa, Pickles would probably shoot first and ask questions later. -
How come you don't own that place yet?

As good as a howitzer?

Everyone is there to try and grab the Gold Ring on the Merry Go Round. Each person thinks they deserve it but no one has a clue who holds it so between grabbing arse and kissing arse the backstabbers don't want to be the one to ruffle any feathers.

What do YOU need a 28 Nosler for? You only get drawn for Javelina and those itty bitty deers my friend. LOL
