Crazy thing is the plane had at least 250 miles to go before it was out of Iranian air space and the airport is about 20 miles from downtown Tehran. It was probably only in the air for two minutes. I wonder if the Iranians specifically targeted one of the passengers.

My nephew sent me one of those "Save the Date" cards about five years ago for 9-12 so me being the dummy I am though he was planning something for my birthday. Boy was I surprised to find out he was getting hitched.

I looked at the airport and crash site on GOOGLE Maps but didn't see a base. The area it crashed in was open land close to a big residential area so the casualties could have been much higher if it went down there. We may never really know what happened.

The crash site is about 10 miles from the airport.

If you hunt hard in any unit that has a decent population you will find deer. I have used Optics 4 Rent for probably 15 years and they are great to work with. Get a tripod for the 15's or even for 10's when glassing. The stability they offer can't be duplicated even with 10's. An extended weekender before the hunt would be invaluable to understand the type of hunting and nuances of desert hunting. Many of us would be happy to take you out and explain the country to you so you can understand things you won't read in a book or learn from a website.
